The Runes wrote:Osiris in Civil War Update

It's day 2 of the civil war in Osiris and thus far Venico is winning. Dalimbar and Biyah have been banned and are defiant in saying that they will go to war with Venico. Todd McCloud has issued a compromise to end the civil war but it has been rejected by Venico, the proposal would see the Empire members unbanned and that one of the coupers and one of the empire members would get an admin spot on the old forums which were to be used. Dalimbar and his supporters have taken to a mainly political campaign at this moment in trying to fight Venico and his Osiris Fraternity.

This is genuinely the first time I've known about anything important in GP before a news article has been posted. Am I a real GPer now? :ugeek:

Europeian Elections Underway

On March 4th, Nominations for President of the Republic were opened. Thus far, only Anumia and Malashaan are in the running. President Anumia is hoping for a 3rd consecutive term and unless things change drastically, he is sure to win it.

Malashaan is my Vice President. In Europeia, candidates must run on a President-Vice President ticket, so Mal and I are running together, presently against no opposition.

To be fair, if I didn't have context from, y'know, being involved in the whole process :P it would have confused me also.

Hell I knew the context and I still thought your own Vice President was running against you - and was a bit puzzled by that. :P

It can be said that regions are much the same; most have a founder and/or a ruling clique according to some people (I do not hold this viewpoint). Particularly amongst the feeders and sinkers, it is felt that many have the same sort of system of governance and that there is little difference amongst them. When I joined Osiris for the first time as a citizen recently, I was surprised to notice that the region was very very different from Balder.

In fact my initial thoughts were that the region was more Europeian than Europeia was! The presence of it's civil service; called priesthood there was very strong. In fact, in order to join the legislature there, you -must- be part of it and remain a part of it. The priesthood application also divides each section into smaller portions. In Osiris, from my brief experiences, it is my belief that you must join their civil service in order to advance your career there.

Both civil services are centralized. In Europeia though, it is not required to participate in the civil service in order your career. While it can help, there are more avenues to participate in initially. The Citizens Assembly being one of many of these. Hence, why I called Osiris more Europeian because the presence of the civil service is much stronger.

Despite the belief that Balder is most like Europeia because of the presence of prominent Europeians in it's founding, it lacks a civil service and has never had one. This, in my opinion all changes the dynamics and focus in the regions. In Europeia, the government has a very strong focus but it tends to be organized more loosely in the bottom. In Osiris, the focus on government is strongest, and at the low end is organized the highest. In Balder, the focus on government is lower and there is no to very little organization on the low end.

Strangely, Lazarus has a civil service called the "cadres" while TRR does not have a civil service. This for one tells me that systems of governance are not always exported and that each region has a different sort of focus for newer members whether or not it means to or not. Regions must think about improving -their- experience as the great leader Most Great Britannia would so often say. What is the experience of newer members in your region? What opportunities do they have? How does it fit into the whole philosophy of the region?

This is not always a structural, it is also dependent on the culture of a region which can change over time. For example, Europeia in 2014 is a lot different than Europeia in 2010 when I joined as a citizen. I recall, Oliver testing the government by posting an introduction topic with a fake new account and he asked questions and no one said anything. This was how Europeia was then. It has improved a lot since then through the hard work of many people who have changed it's culture.

In conclusion, I hope to examine this more and compare the different philosophies of regions as well as hopefully get people to focus on smaller parts and how they affect the whole.

Unibot Resigns Citizenship Amid Harassment and Sedation Charges

Unibot has resigned his citizenship today from The East Pacific after he was charged with a number of charges. These include acting deliberately to cause a public nuisance, severely harassing, teasing, acting with the intent to harm a citizen and committing sedition on the grounds of advocating for unlawful government changes.

I will note that I am also defending myself against this open legal case -- I just have also left the citizenry. Not much point sticking around when the delegate himself pursues sedition charges against you, despite chatting with you friendly the day before.

The prosecution has yet to present any of its facts in regards to what it has perceived was "sedition" on my part. I await to see what cock-and-bull story has been concocted.

EDIT: And no, I haven't "sedated" anyone.

Should the a trial be deemed necessary, evidence will be presented. In the meantime, Conclave is mulling over this case and a selection of witnesses.

If the Runes could write articles, as opposed to repeating sound-bites that regurgitate a more-than-a-minority interest in publicizing Unibot's various scandals, that'd be great.

Your CURRENT TITLE told me everything that was in that article.
