So much for unbiased reporting!

Not all those who opposed Georgie's campaign platform were defenders. Some of us just didn't want TSP to become a raider region or have a significant bias towards raiding. Even then, it shouldn't matter if those voicing their concerns were raiders or defenders. They are citizens of The South Pacific. That is all that matters.

Indeed. Hell, I myself even supported SB's platform, although obviously I have my own ideas for how to bring activity to the NSA.

The article, however, does get my platform wrong. It wasn't to make TSP a raider region, it was to make the NSA an army that most often raids, in a similar style to when I created the Medjai Guard in Osiris (which remained an active and effective force until I was forced to go WA immobile when I took on first the Kai Repat and then Pharaoh roles).
Where is Someone Special?
<@Unibot> I don't care about defender unity.

BACHTENDEKUPPEN IS THE NEW PETER CAPALDI !!
November 8, 2013.

CAPITAL DISTRICT, THE EAST PACIFIC –-- Bachtendekuppen has been elected as the next Peter Capaldi of The East Pacific; the outgoing delegate has said his congrats to the new Peter Capaldi. The regeneration is expected to be brief and relatively painless.

Todd "I-Don't-Wanna-Go" McCloud told NSNE, "A good region isn't afraid of giving its promising new members a chance at the seat, and we had three very good and very qualified people for the job. Bach was chosen by the region in an election that was quite active and received many votes. For that alone, I believe he'll be just fine, and will continue TEP's dominance in the NS world".

Bachtendekuppen won the election 18-13. A very tight race indeed!

I considered it, but it wouldn't have accomplished anything and it doesn't look good.

It can be a bit daunting being in the seat the first time. It is unfortunate because some people may want to see you fail. But don't worry about that, and just keep working towards your goals and for the betterment of TEP as much as you can. :)

Congrats Bach.

Congratulations Bach. Naturally, you have to have a second term after an absence, in order to maintain conservation of pun. :)

CHAIRWOMAN HARMONEIA RESIGNS, CHAIRMAN MILOGRAD APPOINTED
November 11, 2013.

SCARLET CITY, LAZARUS –-- Breaking news from the Scarlet City. Chairwoman Harmoneia has announced her resignation, citing her increasingly demanding life as the reason for her resignation.

“I love Lazarus and I believe she deserves nothing but the best,” says Harmoneia, “Hence, I have decided to appoint Vice-Chairman Milograd to the position of Chairman”.

Announcing Milograd as her successor is sure to be a controversial choice in some places, however on the subject of Lazarus’s future, Harmoneia had this to say to her followers:

“I believe that Lazarus is on a productive path and that Milograd will be able to continue what we all started here, and that a more independent, stronger, and lively Lazarus will be the result of his term”.

well, I knew this was coming, I just didn't expect Harmoneia to do her scripted part quite so soon.
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

In unrelated news, the Capitalist Paradise stock exchange surged on futures betting on a purge in Lazarus. Milograd's appointment sent prices skyrocketing, as traders bet on the inevitability of a future purge.

In related news, favorability for Afforess increased 5% within Kantrias' public opinion secondly tracking poll. Respondents cite his anti-Milograd snark as a boost in his approval ratings within the Kingdom of the Gavel and Sword.

In a late-breaking development, the pretend newscaster thing has just reached the point where it should not be continued. More on this story at 8.

I imagine my ratings moved me up from being the 'face on toilet paper rolls', to 'a favorite of marksman targets'.

well, back when you delivered updates to the UDL embassy on the Kantrias forums, you were at 10%. Now you're at 1%

@Afforess: Actually, you were at 20%.

@Mahaj: You're at 0%
