Because let's be clear what happened here. 14 years ago, a founder CTE'd. LKE decided that this region now belonged to them, including nobility titles and all. Literally this. Then the founder came back. LKE tried several times again whenever the founder CTE'd, every time the founder came back again. And now, 14 years later, they achieved a "victory" of sorts.

Actually LKE tried just twice before, in 2006 and 2009. Not several times. Both times foiled by the Founder returning. Defenders and the Founder then spent the next 10 years boasting about how great the native resistance was, including most recently a couple of weeks ago in the "Condemn LKE" resolution. So we put an end to it. Crushing the native rebellion with one swift stroke. Scoff all you like, for thats about all you can do for the beloved natives of Moldavia now.

Emblems of the Road to Glory Party and Lion Party

The recent Prime Ministerial election saw the two LKE major political parties run for the office of Prime Minister (PM) and Deputy Prime Minister (DPM). Incumbent PM Erica von Clair-Arcadia (Lion Party) was running with her DPM Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier (Independent) against Wilhelm Cransnikov (Road to Glory Party) and Azrael Dreemurr Wineholt (RTG Party). After the campaign, the vote took place on the regional forum on 30 December, and saw the Wilhelm-Azrael ticket winning with 60% of votes, while the Erica-Raeliana ticket received 40% of votes.

RTG Party's proposals have probably seduced a new electorate recently, that of newcomers very interested in the roleplay world developed by the region, and have high expectations in this area in particular. Several citizens who are relatively new to the region and to politics will thus come to government and will have to prove themselves, both individually and collectively, in order to implement the reforms desired by Prime Minister Wilhelm Cransnikov, leader of the RTG Party.

His Supreme Majesty thanked the outgoing PM and DPM, saying "I am glad that we shall continue to draw from their experience and their participation in government as they take their seats in the Estates Noble and the Estates Common respectively". Indeed, Erica, Baroness of Paraná, continues as Member of the Estates Noble while Raeliana won a seat in the Estates Common.

The general elections included the election of a new Estates Common, lower chamber of our legislature. All 5 seats were won by independents, a first under the 12th Constitution. The parliamentarians were able to swear the oath of allegiance to the Emperor, and the EC elected Nobunaga Oda as Speaker, while Julio Von Arcadia-Sova, Viscount Haifa, continues in office as Speaker of the Estates Noble.

Imperial Succession Day Honours List

The Imperial Succession Day commemorates January 8, 2018, when then Crown Prince Theoden Sebastian acceded to the throne the day of the formal abdication of Emperor, now Emperor Emeritus, Onder Kelkia. On the occasion of this special day, Emperor Theoden was "pleased to announce the first honours list for the year". Honours lists aim to reward deserving citizens, particularly those who have worked for the benefit of the region, and this may have been in a number of different bodies including the government, Estates General and the Imperial Army (LKEIA). Therefore, Emperor Theoden recognised Julio Von Arcadia-Sova, Viscount of Haifa, by awarding him the Most Excellent Order of the Realm for his "consistent and sterling performance in government". Similarly, Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier was awarded the Order of Achievement for her "commendable work in the Ministries of the Interior and Culture, and in the Estates Common".

Treaty News:
Non-Aggression Pact with The East Pacific and Amendment to the Treaty of Taunton with Europeia

In September 2020, a Non-Aggression Pact was negotiated and ratified by The East Pacific and The Land of Kings and Emperors. The NAP passed through both regions' legislatures without opposition. As well as a commitment to non-aggression and associated prohibitions on specific forms of belligerent activity, the NAP contains provisions extending full recognition to the constitutional governments of both regions. The LKE is committed to positive relations with TEP founded upon mutual respect for the sovereignty of both regions as embodied by the NAP.

Flag of Europeia

In December 2020, ratification was completed of an amendment to the Treaty of Taunton between The Land of Kings and Emperors and Europeia. Originally signed in 2011, the Treaty of Taunton is the LKE's oldest extant bilateral alliance bar our treaty with The New Inquisition and Europeia's oldest extant bilateral alliance. The amendment retained the overwhelming majority of the text of the original treaty, but revised out-of-date clauses and added new provisions relating to World Assembly cooperation and recruitment.

Estates Common: Independents Strike Back

In recent memory, the Estates Common has never been completely independent. The 3rd and 4th sessions of the Estates General had even seen the Lion Party take all the seats in September-November 2019. And yet this has just changed, while the Road to Glory Party has taken the reins of government and the Lion Party must now rely on its two members of the Estates Noble, the Estates Common is now composed solely of independents.

The recently appointed government will therefore have to deal with this unpredictable set at the heart of the LKE legislature. Moreover, it will have to convince the upper house, which is composed of a majority of non-affiliated members, i.e. independents, and a minority of the Lion Party.

For this new term, the Estates Noble and Common will have to look again at the Imperial Honor Act (2020) which should regulate honours and medals awarded in the region, but failed to complete the legislative process before the end of the previous session.

Roleplay Continues to Expand

The roleplay community of the LKE continues to grow, with new nations entering the fray. Indeed, no less than a dozen players have joined in the last month and a half. Crown Prince Valfor Talleyrand proposed a new charter for the Council of Rulers, now known as the Treaty of Genosha, strengthening its abilities and furthering its responsibilities over the entire RP world of the LKE, and it has seen initial support from many among this new generation of role-players, as well as from senior ones.

The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the players, proposed an enlargement of the map used, as this could leave more space for future players, and allow nations to begin colonising these new lands and fighting for superiority over the globe's seas and oceans. It is therefore a new stage that is taking place: a real arena of international politics, in order to make a place for oneself and one's RP country in this world filled with leaders who are so hostile, so unpredictable.

An Interview with Prime Minister Wilhelm Cransnikov

Arcturus Hollestra: Mr Prime Minister, you have just won the election for Prime Minister against the outgoing Erica von Clair-Arcadia, who has been multiple times at the head of the government. What made you want to run for the position of Prime Minister?

Wilhelm Cransnikov: I felt that the region was in need of a change at the head of its executive, and that I could help bring this needed change. I also believe that this allowed for constructive competition, which was and is important for the region.

A.H: Are you confident with the government you have set up, and how did you go about that process?

W.C: I am quite confident in every member of government I have appointed, so far, they all have met and for some gone beyond my expectations. Some choices for ministers were quite obvious, for example Lord Julio Von Arcadia-Sova has diligently served as minister for the exterior for a long while. Some other appointees were chosen not because of their long service in the government but rather because of their potential to exceed in their duties.

A.H: What are the main goals for your term as Prime Minister?

W.C: Internal reform is a major goal of my government, inside the LKE there are definitely things that could be changed for the better. To take a specific example, I intend to create a guide for new players entering the RP developed by both the ministry of culture and roleplayers, and also to work with the minister of the interior Zecheriah Stevenson to help integrate new members to the LKE community.

A.H: Are there any words you would like to add to those reading?

W.C: It is my hope that as Prime Minister I can help elevate the LKE even higher. TERRA REGUM IMPERATORUMQUE TOTUM MUNDUM REGET!

Imperial Army Activities

One of the many assaults led by the Imperial Army over the last months

The LKE Imperial Army conducted plenty of invasions over the last few months to train our soldiers and demonstrate our presence. In particular, recently promoted Colonel Nobunaga Oda planned the invasion of Insert Cool Name Here, where she has uniquely demonstrated her ability to lead. The Imperial Army also succeeded in capturing the delegacy of a series of regions, including Joe Biden, New Jaromiria, One True Moon, Oceanosphere, Social Democrats United, JON, and 15th Century Japan to name a few.

Soldiers of the Imperial Army also recently provided Europeians with assistance during their delegacy transition.

The LKE Imperial Army has once again demonstrated its influence, might, and strength in numbers on the world stage. The LKE remains a powerful force to be reckoned with. The LKE, together with our allies, maintains the military capability and capacity to make a significant difference in conflicts across Nationstates.

Civilisation Day

The Civilisation Day marks the opening of the first LKE Forums which went online in 2006. This is an important point in regional history.

In the course of the celebrations, Emperor Theoden announced major changes to the regional leadership. The first announcement was the retirement of Valfor Talleyrand from the Imperial House and his position as Crown Prince. Valfor Talleyrand served as a trusted friend and adviser to the Emperor and assisted with the leadership of the region throughout his service as Prince Imperial and subsequently Crown Prince. In recognition of his immense service, he was created as Duke of Crownchester, a title he held before becoming a member of the Imperial House, and appointed to the Guardian Council.

Linkin Maximus, for his great service and loyalty during the early and modern history of the LKE, was created as Duke of Westexshire.

To replace Valfor Talleyrand, Julio Von Arcadia-Sova was created as Crown Prince and the Archduke of Maxonberg. Julio served the region in many different positions and has shown unwavering loyalty to the region since he joined it on the 20th of July, 2017. During this time, he served both in the executive and legislative branches of the Imperial Government and as World Assembly Delegate, making several notable contributions to the foreign affairs and relations of the region.

The next important announcement was the creation of John Spencer-Talleyrand as Prince Imperial and Archduke of Vienna. Since he joined the LKE on the 18th of January, 2018, he has ascended to the highest positions of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the Imperial Government. He has served as the Speaker of the Estates Noble, Prime Minister, and currently serving as Lord Chancellor. In addition to his creation as Prince Imperial, he succeeds Valfor Talleyrand as Chief of the Imperial General Staff and professional head of the Imperial Army.

The Emperor further announced changes to the Guardian Council. Rayregalia von Arcadia-Sova was appointed Vice Moderator of the Guardian Council in recognition of his service to the region, while the Viscount of Shaftesbury, William Talleyrand, officially resigned as Guardian Counsellor due to real-life commitments.

Lastly, to commemorate Civilisation Day, the Emperor published an honours list rewarding members of the Electoral College who have worked hard for the good of the region. Zecheriah Stevenson von Arcadia-Sova was created a Knight of the Most Perfect Order of Ortho in recognition of his assistance in the maintenance of public order and security, and other contributions in the field of Imperial culture and community affairs, and Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier was awarded the Order of Superbus for providing considerable assistance to the development and growth of the World of the LKE, and regional activity in general.

Developments in Foreign Affairs

IRC Treaty

In early 2021, the LKE formally joined Inter-Regional Chat, a discord server with the aim of fostering and promoting friendship between regions by creating a common space run by and for the benefit of member-regions. To ensure that, every member-region whose World Assembly Delegate has more than twenty-five endorsements appoints a representative to the Board of Representatives, which is tasked with the administration of every aspect of the organisation, with the Administrative Team being tasked with ensuring that the policies enacted by the Board are carried out on a high level, and through their own policies, ensure that the users of IRC are protected and the Discord Terms of Service are complied with, and the Moderation Team being tasked with enforcing Board and Administrator policy.

Treaty of Claidheamh

The flags of Kantrias and The Land of Kings and Emperors

The Treaty of Claidheamh between The Land of Kings and Emperors and Kantrias was negotiated and subsequently ratified. The treaty formally reinforces the ties of friendship and unity between both regions which date back to 2012 when the Treaty of Friendship Between The Land of Kings and Emperors and Kantrias was signed. Back in 2015, the Treaty of Friendship was repealed. In spite of that, the friendship between both regions endured and has once again been formalised which commits the signatories to cooperation, aid in defence, and non-aggression between the other.

Inductions into the Hall of Honour

The Hall of Honour was created to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to the greater good of the LKE. John Spencer-Talleyrand, Archduke of Vienna, Julio Von Arcadia-Sova, Archduke of Maxonberg, Rayregalia Von Arcadia-Sova, Earl of Paddington, and Erica von Clair-Arcadia, Viscountess of ParanÃ¡, have been inducted into the Hall of Honour for their excellent service and contributions to The Land of Kings and Emperors. They join the ranks of regional pillars such as Onder Kelkia, Theoden Sebastian, and Wilhelm Somerset (North East Somerset) to name but a few.

To mark their induction, a formal ceremony organised by the University of The Land of Kings and Emperors in coordination with the Dean of the Hall of Honour shall be held in due course.

LKE choosing to keep their flag larger than that of Kantrias’ ironically speaks to them as a region pretty well, particularly in how they view and treat other regions. Who doesn’t know how to resize an image in this day and age? My condolences to Kantrias for the burden they have placed upon themselves.

16th Foundation Anniversary

With the LKE turning sixteen years old, there have been major changes to the Region. It moved on to its fourth Forums and the Regional Administration experienced those too. In his Anniversary Speech, Emperor Theoden announced important changes to the Imperial House and that he intends to push for institutional reforms to adjust to the changes that have occurred in Nationstates in general. Additionally, it is his goal to increase cooperation with other regions.

In regards to the changes to the Imperial House, Prince Akillian Talleyrand has decided to retire from his position in the regional administration. He's filled important political roles, including two terms as Prime Minister and serving as Lord-Chancellor, in the LKE since he joined in March 2013 and also has a prestigous record as a soldier in the Imperial Army. He was restored in his title as Duke of Morrington. He also was appointed as member of the Guardian Council.
With his retirement, the Emperor saw the need for another long-serving member of the region to step up to such an crucial duty. Rayregalia Von Arcadia-Sova was, therefore, appointed new Archduke of The Land of Dragonia and Prince of the Imperial House. Prince Rayregalia has strived to improve the region since he joined November 2018. Serving four terms as Prime Minister of the LKE and being the only individual to have been trusted with administering two Colonies of the LKE are only some of his accomplishments. He also has an record in the Imperial Army. Most notably, he took down a rebellion in the Colony of Moldavia.

Another outstanding individual has been acknowledged as well. The current Prime Minister Zecheriah Stevenson von Arcadia-Sova has been created as Baron of Farava for his commitment to regional security and loyalty to the region. In addition, he was appointed to the Guardian Council.
Valfor Talleyrand, the most honourable Duke of Crownchester, has been appointed as the new Vice-Moderator of the Guardian Council.

Lastly, three other individuals have been given honours. Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier has been awarded the Order of State for her long-lasting service as Speaker of the Estates Common. Charles vi Avalonia has been awarded the Order of Achievment for services to regional culture. The last honour was given the Bolden, the Countess of Atnas. She served as World Assembly Delegate, Prime Minister and Lord Chancellor. Additionally, she contributed greatly to the regions security during her service as Deputy Director of the LKE Intelligence Service in 2006-2008. She has, therefore, been rightfully granted the Most Excellent Order of the Realm.

He joined in 2011 and rose to countless positions until he ascended the Imperial Throne four years ago. In early December last year, Theoden has announced his intention to abdicate the Throne of the Land of Kings and Emperors. The Emperor will do so on 15th January 2022, and has made known his desire to adopt the title and position of Retired Emperor Sequentia, a role specifically created under Constitution XIII for former sovereigns, upon the Emperor Emeritus' consent.

To his subjects, Emperor Theoden has served the LKE in the most dedicated and thorough manner conceivable. His Supreme Majesty served as an effective and ground-breaking Prime Minister of our region during some of our most vibrant and successful periods in 2014 and 2015. The success of Emperor Theoden's reign was preceded by years of his experience and committed service as an LKE politician and statesman in royal, ministerial, legislative and military positions. He has admirably served as Crown Prince for over a year and a half before succeeding Onder. Under his reign, the LKE surpassed the 800-nation mark, breaking all previous records, and becoming the largest monarchist User Created Region and fifth largest UCR in NationStates. An intense level of roleplay activity and stunning military victories have marked his rule. We will never forget what he has achieved for us.

For several months already the Imperial House has planned the Emperor's abdication. Crown Prince Julio Von Arcadia-Sova has been prepared and he is an individual of notable distinction in his own right. His Supreme Highness has a recorded history in the region. In particular, he has served as Prime Minister, Minister and as a senior member of the legislature since joining. The Crown Prince has also been World Assembly Delegate for three years. He has faithfully served the LKE for over four years and we place the utmost faith in him as the Emperor's successor. Behind him sits Prince Rayregalia Von Arcadia-Sova, a respected and talented individual, as well as the Guardian Council of the LKE.

Transition of Power

In the recent days the LKE saw the Ascension of a new Emperor, Felix Nulkia formerly Crown Prince Julio Von Arcadia-Sova. He succeeds Theoden Sebastian, now Retired Emperor Sequentia, who announced his abdication during the 15th of January.

Theoden led the LKE through four years of his reign, since his Ascension on the 8th of January in the year 2018, both during times of prosperity and trouble. It was under his reign that the Rebellion of the Colony of Moldavia was put down and it was under his reign that the LKE reached it's highest nation count ever. It was a honour to the LKE to have him at its helm and it is with pride that we look upon his reign.

The same day the honourable Lord High Steward, Wilhelm Somerset, proclaimed the Ascension of Julio von Nulkia-Sova to the throne of Emperor under the name Felix Nulkia. Emperor Felix served the LKE faithfully since he joined it on the 20th of July in the year 2017. He served both the Legislative and the Executive in the highest offices. For over three years, he represented the LKE as its World Assembly Delegate, seeing a great many of achievements in foreign relations. He is a more than worthy heir to a line of Emperors beginning with Lucius the Glorious to Onder the Conqueror to Theoden the Valiant. The official Coronation took place on the 18th of January. Felix Nulkia took his oaths under the eyes of the entire LKE and received the Royal Regalia.

Constitution XIII

On the 25th of December, 2021, then-Emperor Theoden Sebastian signed the 13th Constitution of the Land of Kings and Emperors. Said Constitution introduced several important changes, the most important of these the Introduction of Article 10 concerning the position of retired Emperor Sequentia which is granted to former Emperors upon retirement with consent of the Emperor Emeritus. The second important change is to the position of Prime Minister who will no longer be elected in an independent election and instead be elected by the Estates General from their own ranks. This Constitution marks the last act of Theoden Sebastian's reign.

Imperial Ascension Honours List

Jointly with the end of the Coronation, Emperor Felix announced the Honours List and an appointment in the Imperial House. With a Crown Prince having ascended to Emperor, there is a need for a new Crown Prince. Emperor Felix has chosen Rayregalia von Arcadia-Sova to fill this important position. Having joined in February 2018, he served the LKE through different terms as Prime Minister with a total of 358 days served in this office. But, Prince Rayregalia also contributed to Imperial Culture serving as Mayor of Onderford and the LKE University. The Imperial Army also holds him in high regards for his excellent service reaching the position of Quartermaster General. There is no better choice to serve as Crown Prince and Archduke of Vienna.

Former Emperor Theoden Sebastian, was appointed Viceroy of the newly erected Viceroyalty of Maxonberg and Archduke of the respective duchy. For his honourable and inspiring service, Theoden Sebastian was given the epitaph "Theoden the Valiant."

Erica von Clair-Arcadia was elevated to Countess of Paraná for her services as Guardian Counselor and Speaker of the Estates Noble and appointed as the privy secretary of the Emperor.

Prime Minister Victor Tarleton von Arcadia-Sova was elevated to Viscount of Farava for his faithful and excellent leadership of the Imperial Government and as Guardian Counselor.

Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier was created as Baroness of Salford for her long career in the Estates General and the Government.

Emperor Emeritus Onder Kelkia was granted the Knighthood of the Most Exalted Order of the Emperor, for his unfailing trust, valuable advice and support.

Lord High Stewart Wilhelm Somerset was awarded the Order of Dynasty for the countless advice and precious assistance he was able to provide to the Imperial House.

Crown Prince Rayregalia Von Arcadia-Sova was presented with the Order of Dynasty for advising well and supporting the Imperial House’s work in the past months.

Deputy Prime Minister Charles vi Avalonia was bestowed the Order of State for his continuous good work as member of the Government.

Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand was decorated with the Valor Medal 3rd class for effective services as Chief of the Imperial General Staff of the Imperial Army and continued activity.

Lucien Hwang von Arcadia-Sova was given the Order of Fraternity for service as Mayor of Onderford and his long service in the Estates Common.

Other News Of The Realm...

Raeliana von Clair-Rouvier was elected as the new WA Delegate, succeeding the now Emperor Felix in this office, after three years of service.

Rayregalia von Arcadia-Sova was proclaimed the new Lord Chancellor, in succession to the retiring Earl John Spencer-Talleyrand.

The Lion Party announced its temporary retirement from politics leaving the political field to the Black Panthers and Independents.

Grand Abbeyverne Republic has been successfully captured by the Imperial Army in early January, and was subsequently made an imperial territory. GAR was a splinter region of the former region Greater Cyngland, which was invaded in summer 2021 in response to its offences against the LKE and its residents.

On December 22, Major General Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand was promoted to the rank of Colonel General and given the position of Chief of the Imperial General Staff; Major Victor Tarleton von Arcadia-Sova was promoted to Lieutenant General and given the position of Deputy Chief of Imperial General Staff.

The LKE hereby announces termination of the Treaty of Argyll with United Kingdom based on the combination of two grounds:

Firstly, on 27 March, I contacted United Kingdom to request that they deny any citizenship application from Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand. This followed Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand's seizure of Grand Abbeyverne Republic, a territory of the LKE Empire and a region which she had previously held as an LKE military officer, and Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand moving a nation into UK. UK denied my request. A couple of hours after the LKE's approach to UK, Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand lodged an application for UK citizenship, noting on her application that she had been "declared an enemy of the state in LKE for seizing colonies". This application was granted half an hour later. Citizenship was not just extended by UK to Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand, but done so with great haste in the period of the immediate aftermath of the seizure of an LKE territory and after we requested otherwise.

From Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand's subsequent statements, the LKE has validated our concern (initially based on the timing of her citizenship application, directly after our request) that she gained knowledge from within UK's government that the LKE requested that any application from her be denied. This constitutes a breach of Article 5, Section 1 of the Treaty of Argyll between the LKE and UK, whereby "A Signatory may not pass on any information that concerns the military or security of the other Signatory to any party, unless the Signatory that the information concerns gives its consent." UK is in breach of this treaty obligation.

Secondly, on 2 April, I granted a citizenship application submitted by Hon. Mary Spencer (also known as Elizabeth Somerset). I took her application to be in good faith, on the assumption that she wished to contribute productively. On 15 April, using the puppet nation of Moghedien (which had no prior posts on the NS forums and which they did not identify as them in the signature or anywhere else), Hon. Mary Spencer posted a copy of my speech from part of the LKE forums closed to unmasked users, announcing planned constitutional reforms, in the NationStates Gameplay forum, under the heading "Felix Wants To Diminish Democracy" and as part of a thread entitled "Why I Left the LKE and Why You Should Condemn Them". In light of this hostile action, Hon. Mary Spencer was banished from the LKE on 17 April. Hon. Mary Spencer is today the Deputy Prime Minister of UK.

In view of the above two grounds taken together, the LKE no longer has any trust in UK as an ally. The LKE invokes Article 12 of the Treaty of Argyll. This allows either party to terminate diplomatic relations with the other and nullify the treaty and all agreements therein. The LKE ends our treaty and all diplomatic relations with UK.

Citizens of the Realm and Representatives of the Land of Kings and Emperors,

We have seen the news of the revocation of the Treaty of Argyll by the Land of Kings and Emperors. The Government is saddened that this step has become necessary in the eyes of LKE's leadership.

The statement regarding the revocation points first to our decision to grant citizenship to Astrid Weisberg-Talleyrand on 27 March 2022. While I was not Prime Minister at the time of this decision, I can inform the representatives of the LKE that UK law does not permit such random discretion in citizenship applications. Applicants may be denied if they pose a threat to the United Kingdom community or if they are likely to engage in criminal conduct, but that was not the case here. Importantly, applicants may also be denied if they have a current or prior affiliation in NationStates that is precluded under a treaty obligation. There was no such preclusion in the Treaty of Argyll, therefore this basis cannot legitimately be used. Absent any reason to deny citizenship, it was approved under our law.

Onto the affairs regarding Mary Spencer alias Elizabeth Somerset, now Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Under no circumstances does the Treaty of Argyll (or, for that matter, any other of our treaties, to my knowledge) require us to prejudice our selection of government officials based on the actions undertaken within another region. Ms. Somerset has, over an extended, proven herself a capable member of the United Kingdom community and is a valuable addition to this government. The appointment of Deputy Prime Minister was extended to her before I had any knowledge of this incident.

While such an individual may not be looked on favourably by the Land of Kings and Emperors, the United Kingdom was - as always - ready to cooperate with the Land of Kings and Emperors were mutually beneficial. We were ready to meet our treaty obligations just as we have done so in the past. Indeed, we have always benefited mutually from pursuits together in cultural and military affairs. However, the Government of the United Kingdom has a duty to our own legal sovereignty and cannot be expected to entertain any and all requests from another region simply due to being treaty allies, especially when it is contrary to our law or relates to the selection of members of our Cabinet. And quite simply, responding to the continued strife that occurs in the Land of Kings and Emperors due to their system of Government, is not an expectation that should fall on the United Kingdom, as it is not material to the cooperation between the regions in the areas mentioned.

I am saddened by the necessity of this action, but at the same time find that I cannot shy away from - nor will I hesitate in - my duty to speak in defence of the Realm and the actions taken thereof. The United Kingdom has long maintained a foreign policy in the independent sphere and only to an extent that suits our foreign policy goals. We will continue to pursue this path and look forward to cooperating with our allies and partners.

My Reply To Nulkia On The NSUK Forums

You know, I had told myself that I was going to keep out of this thread. However, I felt that there needed to be a response against what LKE and their Emperor believes to be truth. There seems to be some assumption that I went to LKE to be underhanded or to harm it. That was not my purpose there at all. If His Supreme Majesty remembers, I used to be a Citizen of LKE for a long while, at one point serving as a Member of the Estates Common and as Interior Minister. So, rejoining LKE when they had experienced some hardship should not be a concept hard to understand. I had applied my application as Elizabeth Somerset and shortly after changed my name to Mary Spencer, because I have a fondness for the Duke of Marlborough. The profile picture I had there was the exact same that I had in NSUK and EoGB at the time, as well as on the Discord. My Discord handle was Josi#9711, and my forum username was also Josi. These are all indications that I did not care to hide my identity. I have been known but a multitude of names, nations, aliases, and identities in NationStates. I tried my best to put as many as I remembered in my application, if I remember correctly. If I had really wanted to be a sleeper agent in LKE, I would have done so many different things, but that was not my intention. I came back to help LKE, despite those close to me advising me not to.

I felt that Valfor's words, in his NSGP thread, had a ring of truth. From the very start in LKE, I made my intentions clear that I intended to help. I posted calling for new elections, I helped found a new political party, proposed a reorganization of the Constitution, and ran for the Estates Common. I had made it clear to everyone in my party that I wanted to help reform LKE so that it would have a fighting chance. It is my strong belief that just because something is tradition does not make it worthy. And that was the modus operandi of my work there. It was not too long after that that I had a conversation with Nulkia about what I would like to see changed. Not two (2) hours later, I was declared an Enemy of the State and banned from LKE.

Yes, I have gone by Moghedien and still do. She is one of my favorite characters in The Wheel of Time. And while she was an antagonist in that book series, I was not in concern to LKE. I relate to Moghedien because she is always afraid. Loathe I am to admit it, I am always afraid, I always worry. I cannot help it and that is why I like Moghedien, I relate to her.

You might see my various names, avatars, aliases, and identities as some sort of proof that I was a spy. That's not true. The names, the faces, they are a symptom of a transgender woman trying to find her way. I change my names and faces somewhat frequently because, most of the time, they do not always feel right. In the sense that my dysphoria is weird. It pains me to that I do not look like the people I used in NationStates and in my online presence.

I do not speak as Deputy Prime Minister or a Lady of Parliament. I speak as a private citizen. Felix Nulkia you have burned a bridge and isn't the first one you have burned since you have acceded the Throne. It is truly impressive. You may call yourself Emperor, you may clothe yourself in styles and titles, and demand that your right is unquestionable, but those are not what makes an Emperor, a Sovereign, a King. It is how you hold yourself, how you treat others, how you balance what is best for the Realm, is what makes a Crown worth bearing.

While I am certain that the purpose of your region is to act for the good of its citizens, I am distraught that you do not see the seizure of a sovereign territory of a treatied region as a sufficient ground that requires even modest action on your part. In this case, the smallest action we asked of you was not to accept a possible request for citizenship from Astrid, following her act of war against the LKE. Not only was this request not accepted as you are repeating today, but you actually hastened to accept her application with full knowledge of the situation and our request regarding it.

Regarding Mary/Elizabeth, I do well understand that she was already destined to be a member of UK cabinet but also that she was appointed despite her behaviour and purpose, as she contributed to a thread opened and maintained by individuals who left the LKE with the intended aim of spreading negative views about the LKE. You do not seem to take that as an offence against a region you say to be ready to cooperate with. Nor did you notified our government that Mary was going to take on important functions after she had been banished in our region. Appointing within your cabinet such an individual without prior warning is certainly not a great show of cooperation by UK.

Both these situations, beginning on 27 March for the first one and both still relevant to this day, eventually directed me to review the UK-LKE cooperation and find that I am not fine with remaining allied with a region that breaches the treaty and confidence that once bound us.
