What's with all the retirements lately?

People moving on? NS no longer enjoyable? Everything's been done in the game?

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!

Guess I'm more or less concerned about the recent rash of retirements I've heard here and there. Suppose there's something we can all do to more or less make it harder for people to retire, or is it an inevitability, like no matter what it will happen. And if that's the case, are we doing enough to continuously indoctrinate a new crop of players to do new and exciting things in the game?

Hush Todd. If you had invested soundly you could afford to retire too. Back to work!

They'll be back. They always come back.

How capitalist of you.

They always come back.

*cough cough*

I'm going to be honest, I think we do need to be doing more to re-educate newbies.

It's been a while since we've had a new player really, really make a name for him or herself.

It just feels like we're not really rotating through them anymore.

We're...in decline, one could say. The game's gotten stagnant, in every aspect.

Well if Max would FIX the NS social security system to include ANTHROPOMORPHIC FOXES in addition to humans, I'd be able to retire by now! We're people too, even if we got this way by rolling around in some glowing dirt near Chernobyl.

But seriously, no one retire. I hear they're raising the retirement age in NS, drastically.

It will be a long time before I ever retire.

To tell the truth, the game hasn't been in such a good shape in years. :P

:O do you dare disagree with me?

I'm probably talking more as an RPer, knowing that the RP scene has had better days.

Although I'm told it's not doing all that badly anyway, regardless of whether or not I am following it as much as I used to.

But I was also referring to regional politics, probably more regarding the GCRs (which I'm not a great authority on).

As far as I know, mil gameplay isn't developing as quickly as it used to - by no means is it dying, but imo all those switches a while back were evidence of stagnation in that scene.

Honestly, the game DOES get a bit slow. Those who leave may just expect too much of it. Personally, I left several years ago for reasons I can't currently recall, but came back recently strictly because of how slow it was sometimes. I use this as a bit of a break from my chaotic work here at home. It seems to me like this is the perfect little game for people who have other things to do. Many others may have been using it as a 24/7 kind of thing which, yeah, I imagine it would lose the interest of those who treat it like that after a while. But to me, maybe many others as well, this game is perfect for a break from intense work.

This seems an appropriate thread to post.

No-one can say I didn't make a farewell.

I think the issue is that right now, there's an awful lot of nastiness over not a lot of actual stuff. There's not an awful lot going on, and what -is- going on is much the same as is always going on, over and over and over again in a very short timespan. And even those who are well accustomed to banging heads against brick walls are getting a little bored of it. It's been dead-dead-dead-Someone does something idiotic, we argue for a week-dead-dead-dead-another idiotic thing-dead-.... (you get my point).

And it's just the same people doing similar things over and over. Something needs to happen, but I don't quite know what :P
