In an ‘epic’ announcement, Funkadelia has just announced that the recent appointment of Karpathos as Comrade Protector was a fun ‘troll’ intended to greet Karpathos’ return to activity in NationStates and keep commentators on their toes. Funkadelia will continue to serve as Lazarus’s Chairman and Head of State.

During Karpathos’s brief "tenure" as Comrade Protector, he, in an equally surprising move, brokered a peace deal and a mutual call for a ceasefire between Osiris and Lazarus. The document entitled “A Joint Statement of Understanding between the Osiris Fraternal Order and the People's Republic of Lazarus on the Cessation of Hostilities,” notes the harsh costs of the war in terms of resources and political pressure and agrees to a ceasefire, a moratorium on hostile action and intelligence activities and an effort towards reconciliation between the two sinker regions.

Throughout the statement, the signatories expressed their hope that in the future their regions will mutually respect either’s internal sovereignty and political autonomy despite opposing one another in Military Gameplay. Notably however, the statement was received harshly by former Pharaoh, Cormac Somerset who argued the Osiran government was not being consistent, given Osiris had previously accused Karpathos of being one of the principal instigators of the Osiran-Lazarene War.

“You're agreeing to peace on the day that they promote the guy responsible for the war to serve as their new dictator, in the absence of any democratic input into his selection whatsoever?” says Cormac, adding, “And not only that, but you're agreeing to it with him!”

If you were wondering: Douria, Osiran Delegate, has suggested that the “troll” will not affect the Joint Statement, noting that Karpathos had informed him throughout the negotiations that Funkadelia was still “the one calling the shots”.

I'm upset that there hasn't even been a proper apology from Lazarus, ever, for Karpathos' threats against Osiris. Had you apologized for that and taken appropriate action against him in the first place there never even would have been a war declaration; instead you opted to ignore it completely and not even discuss it with us.

So yes, I'm upset that you're getting peace in exchange for nothing. That I regret the war declaration doesn't mean that I think it should be revoked without Lazarus actually acknowledging that it has done anything wrong.

That said, I briefly forgot that I don't have to care about any of this anymore, and, guess what, I've since remembered. So have at it. War, peace, go-go dancers, whatever floats your boats. All I know is that I've had the unpleasant experience of dealing with you in the past and Lazarus is never going to get along well with anyone for prolonged periods of time while you're involved there.
