I think the UDL would be a lot healthier if it did away with its more corrupt and politically poisoning members like Unibot. Could you imagine a UDL that simply defended? I don't understand why it always has to be this evil empire thingy.

Unibot is one the few sincere people here. He defends not for glory, vanity, or power. He defends because he thinks it is the right thing to do. Even if you disagree about whether defending is right or wrong, following your morals is a noteworthy and laudable action. Too few even have morals.

Unibot, sincere and not corrupt? You obviously haven't known him long enough. There is a reason that many of his former friends and greatest allies are now his enemies. There is a reason why he is banned from a few regions for his deplorable personal attacks that he makes me on people, or the harassment he engages in. If he tried to influence the GCRs, it was to save them from some threat he perceived--real or make believe. Again, if he wants a GCR, he needs only to reach out his hand.

The irony is that UDL, and Unibot in particular, once had a GCR - Balder - under their complete control, and a justifiable basis (finders keepers/first come first served) to establish it as their home region as a fiercely defender GCR. A number of UDL members, myself included, suggested such an action - Unibot refused. He was confident that he would be able to turn Balder defender via a democratic process in competition with the Independent/Imperialist sphere. We can all see how that worked out..

That only proves what I said before:

The only thing keeping General Unibot from toppling a GCR is his resolve to defend.

He had the chance, but stood by his principles--good principles or not.

I took a pledge not to use force for a political agenda, Belschaft. We couldn't do that with Balder, we had to establish a free and open constitutional convention because that was the fairest thing to do.

Explain to me how the burning of my own region was me being destructive? I fought for weeks to try to save Dharma. I'm very sorry to everyone I let down in failing to save it before the region was completely burned.

Ho-hum? I did not join a GCR for power, I joined a GCR because I was intrigued by the welcome TG sent by Lyanna Stark when I refounded for a third or fourth time in 2012, after several unsuccessful attempts to return to NationStates prior.

I've never found the gameplay aspect appealing, probably because I prefer the RP possibility of diplomacy, much more entertaining. It can be argued that I am an influential and powerful member of a GCR it was not through design or planning. Merely through hardwork, a sense of belonging and a want to promote the region I adopted as my home.

Saying that people only go to GCRs for power is an assertion that is somewhat true, it is not universally correct. Some could argue that people create organisations for attention, the moral highground and the ability to make judgements on other regions or groups which do not fall into their "moral circle". At the same time, the statement is somewhat true, and again, not universally correct, as no one could be that desperate for attention. ( )
