Should I go about taking the Christian symbology out of our Futuromeda's national flag?

Pros and Cons of being secular

Postby Futuromeda » Sun Jan 20, 2013 3:42 pm

Greetings from Futuromeda,

My nations forefathers founded Futuromeda on the doctrine of Catholicism. The National Analysis states that the World Average of Religiousness is 0, while my spiritual civilization is around a 4. Over the past days, I've been taking progressive steps in a new direction. When you enter this world - You don't leave it in the same state as you've came in - life should be maliable and progressive, so I took the initiative of legalizing same sex marriage, and am nudging my state in the direction of secularism as oppose to religious philosophy. What are the views and opinions of other Nations and peers in regards to this subject? In the coming days, I will set forth a new agenda where all religions and peoples are tolerated to ensure true democracy within my theocratic nation-state.

Yes, you should. State religion of any kind is an impediment to progress.

Cons: nearly everything about it is a con.

Pros: appeasing heathens.

Secularism is the only true way to freedom. If a part of a nation isnt catholic or christian at all, they will feel supressed. Diplomacy with other nations, such as the Great Islamic Empire, will also improve.

The Royal Union believes that while your progressive policies are very much a positive, taking the symbolism from your flag may be a step too far.

The Symbolism of a flag cannot be understated: and those who do not like the flag's Catholic imagery should surely like it for its Futuromedan symbolism.

Answering issues to get "Most Godforsaken" points often give you "Smartest Citizen" points as well. That is a plus. Some issues such as the pro-abortion issues can also have weird effects on other fields like Compassion and Happiness (I think), so there is always that benefit too if you're looking to buff those.

The only con that comes to mind is that you lose your shot at getting the "Most Devout" badge. That's about it.
