Monday Night Risk

Reuel beit Zeorus sat at a dusty table, dice in hand. Zey bit zeyer lip, considering the next move carefully. Would it be prudent to build up forces in North Africa? Or would that make me predictable? Perhaps a coordinated thrust into Scandinavia...

The Whisp flickered in annoyance. "Are you going to move this century? Make a decision alrea-"

The aged maggid held up a hand firmly. "Don't. Rush. Me." After a beat, zey methodically inched their pieces toward East Africa, gingerly rolling zeyer dice. A thin smile crept across zeyer face as fives and sixes landed in the Sea of Zanj. "Excellent. All according to plan."

The Whisp flittered about skeptically. "...ok? I still have you cut off in Indonesia and there's no way you're getting out of Kamchatka happy."

Reuel chuckled. "We'll see. This is a game of patience, sprite."



Last night, the Brotherhood got together for a round of world-conquering fun we like to call MONDAY NIGHT RISK! The following regions fell to our well-trained and expertly molded plastic armies:

Did you know imps have an innate skill to get under the skin of the people around them? Sometimes it’s figuratively under the skin. Other times it’s literal. In any regard, no one was better at getting under people’s skin than Thorn was. And yet, in all his skill of irritating people the Ever-Wanderer’s new phase of trying to keep “hip with the youth” bothered him more than he had bothered anyone before. The Ever-Wanderer used terms that were older than Thorn. This wasn’t hard since he was 4 months old, but still. Something about these phrases made thorn want to light fires, and he was great at that.

He grabbed a few assassins and got going. It was a 1 for 1 slug fest out in the trenches, for every 1 hit he would miss one and get beat to another. The binoculars the art curator had gifted him had also tried to blind him at one point. He assumed that was a prank by the curator. He wasn’t sure whether to laugh or scream. He chose to scream. That, combined with the several raging fires got the Ever-Wanderer’s attention.

He went striding into the assassin’s prep room where they were bandaging their wounds with mummy linen and calling it a day after stopping in the realm of Osiris. The battlefields were churning violently, and it was past Thorn’s bedtime, making him somewhat volatile. The Ever-Wanderer slammed a map down on the table and showed Thorn some words. Thorn looked at the Ever-Wanderer with a completely absent look in his eyes. Ben leaned over to look at it, blinking sleep out of his eyes too. He uttered 3 words that sent thorn into an absolute rage, storming off to his quarters.

“Cringe and Poggers”

“He didn’t even listen to my explanation. The government in charge of the Stargate program let the guards of the Cheyenne mountain base go without pay, so they left it wide open. The base password is Cringe and Poggers” the Ever-Wanderer intoned

The rest of the assassins continued to treat their wounds and get ready to strike while Thorn put a bucket of molten lead over the Ever-Wanderer’s door to “prank him” and went to bed.

This was the angriest the Night father had ever seen the Ever-Wanderer. He was pacing and slamming doors so hard that the imps thought Valtarre was the one in a tizzy. When the night father had finally calmed down the Ever-Wanderer down enough to get him to explain why he was so mad he started shrilly screaming about lead and thorn and cringe and poggers. Honestly the night father had no clue what to make of it, but it seemed the head imp was responsible for it. To the shock of no one.



Several hours had passed and the night father thought that the Ever-Wanderer has chilled out some so he decided to continue to get ready for his wedding. He had to look his absolute best for his bride. He had finished his haircut when he heard another loud slam in the castle. This time coming from the direction of the armory. That couldn’t be good. He ran off to the armory to see what the issue was. He entered to see Thorn flying around and screaming something about wisp and stealing all the shotguns in a fit of jealousy. No idea what that was about, and he didn’t much care either, Thorn and Wisp were always at each other’s throats and trying to one up each other in displays of more and more elaborate skill and thorn had recently taken the lead by taking out 144 contracts in a night. The Ever-Wanderer slinked into the armory and started to talk to thorn as the night father left



“My dear imp, you don’t need a shotgun, simply wield 2 pistols. It’ll get the job done. Still can shoot two shots at a time. And as for the message you want to spell out in blood? You’re missing a letter c” the Ever-Wanderer slyly said



Hours had passed on the battlefield and thorn had left an absolute mess. Far and away the sloppiest mission he had ever been on. Venico on the other hand has the most beautiful wedding ceremony mortals had ever seen. Thorn's prodigious sprees of arson was the envy of imps across the multiverses. So, when they heard news of an edifice his fires could not reduce to ash, naturally their interest was piqued.



"Did you hear? Thorn the Burninator couldn't put something to the torch!" They would whisper. The taskmaster could only smile wryly at the would-be gossipers.



For when they finally reached the "Thorn-proof" monument, they could only boil in their frustration at their own folly.



At the site they'd all gathered at was a small quartz monument, topped with a baseball cap bearing Thorn's name, and a crude wooden sign written on in charcoal that read:



"Haha ballsmoment"



Below it a banner laid, and it had the words “Big Grats Veni” on it. There were dozens of scribbled out messages where the barely literate thorn tried to figure out where that message needed a C. Valtarre grabbed a quill off a pedestal and fixed it by writing “Big Congrats Venico”. This brought a smile to the night fathers face whilst the Ever-Wanderer sulked into the corner even madder his prank didn’t pay off

The Ever-Wanderer couldn't even remember why he and the Imp, Thorn, were leading a parade across the street. Something about - "Hey, you, bird, stay close" - were they going to that place Iota - "Less airplane noises little pilot, more walking" - wasn't they were headed for - "Yes you can walk like an Egyptian as long as you stay behind Miss Rigel" - ah fuck it. It was all he could do to keep everyone in line, so he just followed the lead of their navigators for the night, Lucklife and Nephmir. A noise grew steadily louder. "We can retie your shoe after we cross the street, young imp." Suddenly, the Ever-Wanderer's neck snapped up - and saw a whole line of out-of-control trucks coming down the road at perfectly parallel at full speed! He closed his eyes, for there was time for little else.



When he opened them, the first thing he saw was a deep blue sky. The second thing he saw was a cat....girl? boy? Did it matter? Something humanoid with feline ears, yet less fur-covered than a Tabaxi, leaning over him. "Welcome to Japan, ~Nyaa! Were you summoned here, to another world, to help save this land? With the power of the Raid Trigger? You are aren't you! Yay!"

The Ever-Wanderer stared for a moment, then closed his eyes again. It was easier that way. For a time.



Many openings and closing of eyes later, The Ever-Wanderer and his entire motley crew of imps, assassins, pilots, hawks, knights, and mummies had broken through The Final Barrier and defeated the Raid Boss Otaku Stratus. Or so they thought. For he had fallen, but he was not gone yet...

There are some ideas being tossed around to allow it to grow under a new founder, in a way that ensures it doesn't attract the sort of problems that *also* come with that name, as this iteration did. It's also possible that it ends up a monument to the country without anyone taking on that...somewhat daunting task. That's mostly a concern for a later day, however.

One shouldn't count their profits until the trading is done!

Yes, yes, building any region is difficult, building Japan without attracting the wrong kind of weebs, and moderating that thoroughly as such, is another task altogether. Personally, I'm somewhat inclined towards the medium-lazy option, of leaving it in some way open or accessible (whether to residents, or at least embassy posting), and disallowing a Discord from being advertised. That could be a middle ground that allows some engagement with it, while also limiting the negative potential.

We intend to seize it, cleanse it, and own it, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be shut entirely.

i would support such a thing. Aslong as it isn't used for hate, should be allowed to exist. Even if it is under raider foundation. Just allow someone else to become a WA delegate. It is what basically happened in Lardyland and I accepted them eventually... Still a bit salty. But i am Stubborn it's in my nature, to those I have been aggressive to i do apologize.
