The most powerful/influential

Postby Neasmyrna » Sat Oct 03, 2009 3:04 pm

I know Falconias ran a poll on this several months ago. But things do change over time and I want to know people's opinions.

After the fall of Gatesville there seems to be a bit of a void in NS. Who do you think is the main uber power in the game?

Who has the capability to do the most and who is doing the most to effect the most aspects of the game. Do we even know of those who do the most?

What do you think?

Sure if I had any idea who you were.

I might do this again eventually, I'm going to change how it works though; I'm going to stress the nature of influence rather than a popularity contest and I will do a pre-survey where anyone who would like to can submit up to 10 names of people they find highly influential, and I'll make one massive list out of it.

Perhaps I'll retain the top spot still!

Though it is doubtful. I don't think Moo will have the #2 spot anymore though.

It could be interesting. I think the last one was a bit biased, as he himself would admit, so to see a new one done would be good.

I remember the ones from a few years back when i first started playing, there were some big names who are still remembered today...

I think Todd would still be top, Naivetry and Sedge would be a bit further up now based on the communities I'm familiar with.

JAL = Durkadurkastan
Naivetry
Sedge

Moving down:
Moo-Cows With Guns
Pope Lexus X
WestWind
TAO

Eli

This isn't of course me being a jerk and shouldn't be offending. Just how I'd see it.

Seeing this again, from a variety of sources, would be interesting.

Can't 234 endorsements buy a man more than one vote? ;)

This more of a 'Gameplay' influence thing (as against WA, RP etc.), so the fact that Europe isn't active within the wider NS world counts against you. Though the fact that you could carry out a 'Taijitu'-esque invasion of TRR at any moment probably gives you some influence :P

234 endorsements can buy a man somewhere between one and 234 votes. It's just a matter of getting them to the polls. ;)
I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

In the WA it'll get you 235. Maybe that should be part of the most influential/powerful measure? Using just the opinion of the few people who happen to see this thread or the old one doesn't seem very accurate...

The old survey was actually posted around loads of different forums, in order to get as many opinions as possible, from a wide range of regions. However, it was really meant to be about who the most influential in the gameplay arena are - not in the WA/in RPing etc (as pointed out above).

If Falconias were to repeat it (which I hope he does), then I imagine that it would be posted around numerous regions, as before. However, I can't see endorsements being used as a measure.
