Depends. What are you going for? What do the colors and the symbolism mean?

The tan represents the conquests of Lanorth, mostly desert lands and the red symbolism represents our religion. Also, can you rate it, if possible?

So I need an assist on how to make this flag better, I've already received some advice, which I will be attempting to use once I am no longer sick with vertigo, but I would much appreciate as much advice as possible until then. As it appears many people view my flag as garish, I can't tell as I am color-blind.

Let me know what you think of this basic layout:

So while I'm working on my primary national flag with the advice I was given, I guess I should deposit this request for advice here.

So I just made some Marxist Accelerationist and Bioaccelerationist flags, but I'm certain they aren't well done at all here's a link to them

They are based in part by the first 2 flags on this factbook infact they are the next 3 flags in the factbook, and they do go into discussion on what they mean, but they talk about some controversial topics

It is basically just random pixels. Although they do actually represent something in binary.

Hi all, I changed my flag again. I'd like your opinion on it; please be as honest as possible.

I'm not a fan of that style in general, but yours is a well-executed example.

Two suggestions:
1) Use a darker an blue-er blue gor improved contrast.
2) Have the "arms" of the central symbol either stop at the level of the black horizontal, or extend to half-way between that and the vertical.

Thanks for the feedback. I went by your suggestion for a bluer blue and am using a more distinct symbol that stands out. What do you think?

I've decided to go minimalist, so I made this simple triband.

That was way too simplistic, so I put an emblem.

Someone was using that emblem before, so I extended the lesser rays (and swapped the colors).

Anything else I should improve?

Nice purple, but could be a bit more reddish. The yellow is great, but if you make the purple redder, maybe make the yellow a bit brighter to stand out still. I also think you should make the middle stripe white.

I can help. First of all, the yellow and white do not go well together. Maybe get rid of the white stars altogether, as they are different sizes and off-centered. Be sure to do something with the waves, too. I suggest you remove the waves and replace them with simplistic lines matching the sun. I'll be sure to get my visualization to you when I edit this post. Take care!

EDIT: Actually, forget about the visualization. It's your choice to follow this advice.

My quick US$0.02 is that it's pretty solid already. My only suggestion is that the pattern work on the left and right outer edges doesn't visually read well at smaller sizes (such as forum avatar size) since the colors involved have a fairly low level of contrast. As for solutions to that, I would suggest either a simpler pattern that's a little less busy, or maybe replacing the pattern sections with a simple solid stripe. You could maybe keep the patterns while using a brighter shade for one color or the other to improve the contrast, but I'm not sure that would visually read well at smaller sizes either.

The new blue is a definite improvement, but IMHO could still go a couple of shades further.

Your old symbol was good, just needed a tweak in execution. The cog is also OK, but less distinctive. Not bad, but for my money I would change it back.

I agree about the purple to red change, but disagree about the white. For contrast, perhaps try using blue between the bars of the cross. I would also suggest keeping the inner and outer bars the same width.

I've been using my flag for well over 8 years now so I'm not looking for drastic changes, but anything I could do in terms of contrast/finding shades of green, yellow, and blue that go even better together?

Also, does anyone know of symbols for meritocracy? I've been on the lookout for a while but I still haven't found anything 'universal'.

The blue is fine as it is. I would suggest a slightly darker green, around #082, and a slightly redder yellow, say around #fe2.
