I would suggest you stick with the fourth one or go with the 3rd one as they seem to have the most appealing designs and they seem to suit your nation the most(particularly your nation's name).

[The Islands of Versilia]

I have a few questions,

So, for context, I’m overhauling my nation and practically redoing its whole lore, history and society. In the modern era, Versilian society and government is dominated by its vampiric and mage minority populations, making the country a de facto magocracy with heavy vampiric influences.

My questions are thus:
1. What colours/shades would be suitable for the country’s flag?
2. Given the fact Latin is an official and Romanesque influences are strong, what sort of actual design could/should I use?
3. I plan to use a horizontal flag, with vertical banner and vexillums (military/civil standards) in common use in the country itself, so how would this affect design and colouration?

My apologies if I haven’t been concise in my writing, it’s rather late at night.

2) Since Roman design pre-dates heraldry, you can play a bit with the normal rules. Just take a look at some roman designs and use anything you like, discard the rest.

3) If you do use heraldic standards, I believe the usual rule is that the field and ordinaries are simply rotated clockwise as though the flag were hanging from a horizontal flagpole. Any charges which have an orientation are then rotated back to the correct aspect, but in the position they would be relative to the rotated flag.

I’m currently trying to think of a design for this nation’s flag. For context, it’s a sun-worshipping/esoteric Germanic FFT society. I’m thinking of using white and a gold/yellow colour, with one of the eagles below, but I’m not too sure. One piece I thought of was a eagle star above the eagle, representing both the Germanicism and interstellar nature of the nation.

Gold and white provide poor contrast, so are probably a bad choice as your main pairing unless they are separated by something dark. Black background, white star, gold eagle might work.

Of the eagles shown, I think the first looks most futuristic. Have you considered starship designs with an eagle-type feel?

That sounds promising. Perhaps white outlined with gold for the star and eagle?

Agreed, I like the first the most. The idea of eagle-like starships sounds interesting.

Made the red more prominent and changed dimensions to 2:3. What do you think?

As Ocelot says, use a single red. probably somewhere between the two you have, or use the darker of the two. Also brighten up the gold a bit.

The central circle could do with being a little larger, and the star proportionally larger within that.

The star can't be in the red stripe because it would not symbolize the nation's motto anymore and would make the flag look socialist.

Should the star be bigger, in your opinion? Is its alignment within the black field proper?

Not sure what people think of my flag yet, looking for some opinions about it.

I would suggest making the triangles slightly larger, and moving the whole symbol over to the left.

Orange is an unusual colour, but not wrong. I think a slightly lighter shade would contrast better with the black symbol.

The current design is good. If you wanted, you could make the star slightly larger but it's fine as it is.

I'd say it's pretty good as is.

You might want to consider having the white stripe on the fly (right) side so that the main symbol is nearer the hoist, and thus more visible when the flag is drooping.

You could also darken and saturate the orange and lighten the gold for more contrast.

As I said, though, fine how it is.
