Leroia in Economic Distress. HALP

I began my Nation yesterday and noticed that my nation's stats began ridiculously low. My friends all started with all stats in the High or Med range while mine were all low (save civil rights which is a very low medium) Is there anything I can attempt to do to boost these stats, should I just fight on or should I simply restart (A last resort).

The issues you answer decide the stats of your nation. Answer issues that favor freedom and your freedoms will rise.

Wait for some issues, depending on how you answer them your economy will get better or worse. Although this isn't everything. IC actions can apply to economy as well but the game doesn't pick it up.
