The Discord craze started with TSP in January 2016 and took off from there; I believe it was fairly popular by the end of that year but that might just be 2016-vintage me remembering to talk out of my arse :P

That sounds interesting. Maybe somebody can ping NSA or McMannia to get their take.

However I found the following for you:

Anyway, I see neither a NSA nor a Tom, the two that once made HYDRA Command briefly relevant despite McMannia, so let's just say I'm only cautiously optimistic about this reboot's success.

McManniaa wrote:People do get that the original hydra command had more than two staff members right? Yes Tom led the region during its most successful period, and his retirement coupled with NSA pulling an unexplained disappearing act (along with several talented officers immediately jumping ship) hampered the region in a way it never really recovered from (my inability to fully take the reigns and lead the region out of said tail spin due to emotionally traumatizing IRL issues I won’t get into on a public forum didn’t help either) but hydra command was more than just two people. It was a collective effort by a group of talented people with complimentary skills that added up to a successful team. Trying to recapture that with the original members (many of whom aren’t even ns players anymore) would be a fools errand and a waste of my time and theirs. We’re moving forward with a new team, and we’d appreciate it if everyone could stop with the “well toms not here so it’s doomed” comments.

Sounds like this Tom guy was pretty important and without him it fell into inactivity.

That is very unfortunate. My time there was great, but yeah, I can see why people leaving so suddenly would greatly impact an organization.

I am moderately confident that TRR’s discord was started during LR’s delegacy, so 2016 checks out.

Looking for historians on "Wakeism"

As you know, Wakeism is a weird religion-cult on Nationstates. I don't know what it even is about. Does anyone know when their regions Battleship, Temple Prime, and The Temple, and have conquered many regions (Apparently 250+) and want to know how they exist.

Sure. 2003.

I've written about my own experiences moving off of an RMB-based government and onto forums: viewtopic.php?p=11042640#p11042640

What was Francos Spain's first NS identity?

Has there been any minor or big battles between raiders and defenders? Or perhaps fascists versus the anti fascist community?

Weird, my RL school mates and I held The Temple as a regional spin-off from Dharma a long long time ago (Lost was a popular TV show at the time.)

Have been reading the Layem thread. They keep mentioning this "Sanctum" . What is this exactly? Was it a region? Or a nation. It seem they like comparing it to Layem. I really would like some context if that is alright. If its touchy, I push with my question. Thank you!

Hey there Leo,

Wasnt the Burning of EmbassyRegionia one good example? And even before there was TMC. I think its the occupations and the following sieges that draw the big numbers. Although really sorry I cant give you a lot more better examples.

Although I am confused when you say

quote="Team Leo";p="39599277"]Has there been any minor ...[/quote]

No idea what could be considered minor. But thats maybe because I am not that well versed with NSGP myself.

Bunch of blacklisted and likely a few DoS players over there. From what I heard their discord was something out of Freddy’s nightmare….

As Wayne said, Sanctum harboured some rather unsavoury characters there, and espoused some pretty terrible rhetoric, which you can see resulted in some beautiful trans flag colours painted all over the WFE after its destruction :)

Thanks fellas! Glad to see that I am able to witness history repeat itself I suppose. o7

What was the largest raid/defense ever done? (I'm asking: What lead raider/defender (WA delegate) had the most endos at their peak?

The Brotherhood of Malice's raid on The Mystical Council earlier this year. At its peak, Diviciacus had 260 endorsements. All Wild Things wrote a general overview here, though I'd keep your eyes peeled for a more extensive write-up at some point in the future.

Try googling it, see what you find

Having done a search for these recently, I can say with reasonable confidence that there are only a tiny number of pictures left on the internet of NationStates 2.

One is this one, from NSIndex, and a better version of that header picture can be found here.

Another two can be found here.

There is, however, some terrible youtube videos people submitted as part of a competition to "be the face of NS2", so enjoy those. Apparently, the plan was to actually run a few of these as part of TV ads...

I insist that the artwork was the only thing good about NS2. We should have brought that (?) proto-cubist stuff to NS1. It worked. (Wee little Unibot had his heart crushed when he first visited NS2.)

Seriously, the more I look back at specifics, the worse it is. We were separated onto different worlds? There was a war system that just divided your population?

I remember my friends all joined NS2 and we realized we couldn't join each other in a region... and we were like "well, that blows" and gave up immediately on it.

Were there always custom positions and permissions or were they added at some point? Also, I know originally founders did not exist (surviving regions from that time are regions like St Abbadon). When were they added?

Custom positions didn't exist until Regional Officers were introduced on October 15th, 2015. Most of the game's features we take for granted weren't in the original version of NationStates. Even naming our capital cities (2011,) national religions (2011,) and custom demonyms (2014) weren't added until as recently as a mere nine years ago. I know, crazy, right?

Founders were implemented on April 29th, 2003. Pretty early, huh? Regions created before then had the chance to select a nation to become their mod-appointed founder. Not all of them took the offer.
