Coming back to this, sorry.
Lazarus had 6821 nations at the time it became over capacity - that's less than half of the largest region in the world, currently, which contains 16032 nations, and is in fact far smaller than 5 other regions, all of which are GCR's (#5 is TRR with 13489 nations and #6 is the West Pacific with 6642 nations, a big jump). As such, I assume that these technical issues have been remedied somewhat permanently - does anyone know when these presumed changes were made?

Okay, I've got some cool stuff for you but no definitive answer. Short answer is that I can push that date back to Feb 26 2003. (May is just when NewTexas started recording regional data.)
- This is Anarchy as it appeared in August 05 2003.
- Illichia is almost surely not the 'real' founder of Anarchy, I believe he refounded it in July 2003. For starters, I have solid reasons to believe Anarchy predates Illichia: if you take Illichia's population on Aug 2003 and interpolate it, it suggests he was founded ~144 days prior on March 16, 2003. Illichia probably refounded Anarchy, since there are references to "the re-established Anarchy region" in July and the population of Anarchy significantly dips in the week of July 07-18. The most inactive nation I can find in Anarchy at the time was last active on July 22 2003 - consistent with a refound.
- This is the earliest known regional forum of Anarchy. It's positively ancient: February 2003!!
From these threads we can glean some important information...- Snakeanarchy (Anarcho_-_syndicalism in NS) was the first forum administrator of these early Anarchy forums alongside being the region's delegate. The earliest archived posts on the forum come from 2/26/2003 and 2/28/2003, when Snakeanarchy was soliciting opinions on the forum colour scheme and the World Factbook Entry. He recorded the WFE (2/26/2003) as "Welcome to the region of Anarchy, the home of Militant Anarchy. This region is composed of free individuals who have done away with the scourge of government. We believe that Anarchy is worth fighting for and will fight Statism wherever it rears its ugly head."
- Snakeanarchy maintained a personal website where he said "i have been playing a game named Nation States" (March 02, 2003). He included some further information about himself here and here. A simple google search suggests Snakeanarchy is still very active on a number of boards online; I would approach him and see if he has any recollections he wants to share about those early days in Anarchy. It is possible that Snakeanarchy ("Anarcho_-_syndicalism") is the founder of Anarchy, or he may have just been someone who took the delegacy of a pre-established UCR and tried to establish a community forum -- only Snankeanarchy could really confirm for sure or not in all likelihood.

Who was Dyakovo? I've seen them mentioned in the signature of many nations.
And does anyone (except the mods) maintain a list of all "retired" nation names? So far I've only ever seen 2: Francos Spain and Dyakovo. Francos Spain I know about, Dyakovo - not so much.

Has anyone ever run a single nation through all the different classifications?

I am the Private Secretary to His Most Imperial Majesty, Emperor Rolamec of the Empire of New Earth. The Imperial House of Banovina is looking to expand itself, and therefore I present two candidates who need a wife. She should meet the following requirements:
1). Be willing to relocate to a region under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Crown;
2). Be willing to convert to the Imperial Orthodox Faith;
3). Be willing to register on our forum and actively take part on our forum.
At the moment there are two candidates who need a wife: 1). The Crown Prince, heir to the Throne; and 2). a King of a smaller allied Kingdom, with relation to the Imperial Family.
If anybody holds interest, I ask them to make their post and contact me by telegram to this nation: Michael Johnathan.
I thank you for your time.
