Go here and search the sinkers, looking for founders. So only Osiris was a UCR.

I'm not sure whether this was the original thread, but this link is relevant and potentially helpful.

The East Pacific was a UCR before it was commandeered as a feeder. Pre-founders, obviously. I should know - I was there when it was password-protected.

Hope to ask it here after thinking about it! ^^

So... is there a time when the 4 cardinal Pacifics - TNP, TSP, TEP, TWP, didn't exist as GCRs? That is, was there a time when there's only The Pacific, or something along that line before 4 more of them formed?

Yes between Nov 2002 to the end of 2002 there was only The Pacific. So, about two months.

The creation of the GCRs was staggered. First TSP, then TNP, TWP, and TEP over the course of five months. The founding of TSP and TEP are the most documented, TWP's founding is sort of documented. TNP's founding is not at all documented - there's very little historical record for TNP's early first few months: the facts and oral recollections are often contradictory (it's pretty established though that TNP was created shortly after TSP, probably the first couple of weeks in Jan 2003.)

Ahh, cool. Thanks for the answer! It's just my curiosity thing because I realise that back when NS doesn't have a lot of people, there won't be a lot of GCRs.

Kinda ironic how TNP has the most nations as of now (and probably the most active? Idk, I am not active on NSGP side, so I am not sure), and yet has little to no documentation.

I think it's just there wasn't the same effort to research TNP's history. TSP, TRR, TWP, and NPO have had pretty active researchers - whereas TNP's origins are less documented.

Sometimes this lack of research is for political reasons, like for instance, the pre-FS era of NPO was badly researched until I worked to flesh it out because the NPO frankly didn't want it fleshed out. 1 Infinite Loop contributed an unreliable narrative when it came to TEP, probably because of some honest mistakes (and revisionism): TEP was just another raid for the Farkers... until it wasn't. Historical TNP was fairly defender-leaning, so there may be a reluctance from Independents to study the origins of the region.

Has there ever been a coup d'etat against TNP? Just wondering, because such a highly-secure region probably wouldn't have had coups at all.

How did player-created founderless regions come about?I know that there are few, but I have no clue how they were created?

Yes, lots. Until 2012-2013 (iirc) or so TNP was the unstable feeder. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=152919&p=36357732#p36357732 <== that one’s actually missing Shoeless Joe.
Sail Nation wrote:How did player-created founderless regions come about?I know that there are few, but I have no clue how they were created?

Originally, regions could be founded but didn’t have a displayed founder with powers. In March-April 2003, UCRs could have founders, and the mods started appointing founders to regions. Some simply didn’t want founders or were missed.

Not sure if this is GP related... oh well.

Who was Dyakovo? I've seen them mentioned in the signature of many nations.
And does anyone (except the mods) maintain a list of all "retired" nation names? So far I've only ever seen 2: Francos Spain and Dyakovo. Francos Spain I know about, Dyakovo - not so much.

It was an April Fool's thing in 2016 and now they revived it for April Fool's Day this year. It has no actual importance and will be gone within the week.

Sorry, I'm sure this question has been asked over and over again, but it's worth asking, I think.

Why were new GCRs added (E.G. The addition of the new sinkers, the split from Antiquity, etc.)?
