It appears to be somewhat true, but I'm not sure if this is a statistical mirage or not.

Not every player will have a WA nation of course. With no better information, the best we can do is assume that the proportion of players who choose to join the WA is fairly constant. So it looks like, yes, the player base has been shrinking, but we can't say for sure.

According to this family tree, Carta, Mahaj, and Cormac were once NS siblings. I assume it was retconned years ago.

What are some other familial ties that are hard to imagine or funny in retrospect?

That was UDL days.

I really don't wanna go into hard to imagine or funny, cause it's frankly sad overall. Those days and before were a lot more whacky and not always good.

The interesting mess of a proud Imperial region founder (Gryfynn from TNI) adopting a Defender (me, currently in the FRA) into her very Imperial family. Then the whole TNI/FRA war happened. Then I kicked her out of Lazarus, twice. And I kicked my daddy too (NES  ).

Their family tree was so confusing but I think Onder was somewhere in there. Uncy Onder sounds familiar :p

It was a serious thing for a while. Then Equinox got it and we really screwed it up for everyone else. Anyone calling Falc Daddy needed their head examined.

If I remember correctly you were also son-in-law to Falc? :P I can hardly talk, though, as it would also make you my brother-in-law.

For clarification, parts of this are incorrect.

I held the office of Crown Prince of TNI, but I did not participate in this "family tree", which was distinguished from the institution of TNI's monarchy. Membership of TNI's royalty and participation in the "family tree" that you describe were wholly separate, with the "family tree" conferring no status in TNI.

The "whole TNI/FRA war" began in 2006, so was already in progress a couple of years before you and Griffin became friends in Lazarus. It was not something that "happened" after your contact with Griffin, but something which Griffin looked past in forming a friendship in spite of that. The point that is correct about your post is your own betrayal - of Lazarus and the friendships formed there - in service of establishing a Defender-Francoist dictatorship.

Yeah it was quite a mess in Equinox, there we children everywhere and weird marriages.

Does anyone know when the first regional map was created? If so, do you know by whom?

Thanks!

I *believe* it was The East Pacific in 2004-2005. The very first map was maintained by 1Infinite Loop, and it looked like a map of Southeast Asia.

The Bruce wrote:In the case of Blarney Castle you had a region where someone had put a lot of work into the regional community, including an elaborate map.

It seems it dates back much farther than that. When it's so early on in NS history, it's probably impossible to tell what the first was.

Edit: just remembered this early one too.

I know regions like Mercia and the Heartland also had early maps, and I suspect Wysteria and Texas did too.

Thank you both for your input. I was trying to get a timeline for comparison because someone who has been playing for a while said that Grub came up with the first map. The 10KI map dates back to July 2004 from what I can tell. I will look into these leads a little more closely. Does anyone have Loops Discord handle? If you have a link to the original map with a date displayed then that would be great too if it is still housed on TEP forums.

I doubt it was Grub that made the first map, and, again, you won't be able to confirm it.

Additionally, getting in contact with Loop will be extremely difficult.
There are lots of maps by Loop, all around 2004, but they have not stood the test of time.

Images don't last very long.

There is still a chance it could be confirmed. Loop is CTE but I will still look around. That January 2004 map is not a regional map. It is one of a nations colony.

The original map post on TEP forums dates back to 05/03/2004. I wouldn't be surprised if TEP wasn't the first, though.

The map doesn't link anymore. But East Malaysia managed to save an older political map. https://i.imgur.com/Jp1JQ8i.jpg

It's a term for a "list" (there isn't, to my knowledge at least, an officially maintained "black list"; it's just common knowledge) of players who have, for many different reasons, done actions that most (if not all) big regions consider awful and are banned as a result.
