Lord Thom asked me to post the below:

I often miss the heyday of the Meritocracy, and I'll say I enjoyed the politics there much more than the real thing!

One thing I think the people who came later after the first wave of Meritocrats is those of us who put this together initially used to actually plan together to make the sort of chaos that we wanted the region to experience. It was done in fun, in what became a consensus, especially between Justin of Eureka and I who are good personal friends at this point, to try to make life more fun. Over time, we shifted into an almost entirely RP stance on the whole thing.

But I really want to give credit to the second generation leadership like Jasque, Argyres, and many others, who took what we built and ran with it. Truth be told, they were very good about that, and I think the more inclusive and expansion vision they created was where it needed to go. Not that I didn't try to cause a little chaos, but in real life, I've become something of a radical.

Still, I wish there was a game that captured the dynamic that NS had for me in its best times. And if it does, the first thing I'm doing is declaring war and organizing against Blackbird, because he truly is one of the most evil and calculating minds out there.

To everyone else, thanks for the kind words!

Cormacville wrote:"Empire" refers to The Empire of The East Pacific, the rogue government of The East Pacific under "Lady Phedre" in 2008. More broadly, it's used to describe the four individuals who comprised the core group of this rogue government: Minineenee (Lady Phedre), Biyah (Lord Rahl), Dalimbar (Lady Anastasia), and New Kervoskia (Lord Griffin). There were other members and even leaders of The Empire of The East Pacific but when most people refer to "Empire" they are referring to these four people.

To answer the second part of your question, despite The Empire of The East Pacific being their largest and most successful coup d'etat these four individuals have been involved in upheaval in many of the Feeder and Sinker regions. Dali was responsible for a coup in The North Pacific in 2007. Biyah and Neenee were responsible for upheaval in The West Pacific (that I sadly don't know much about, but maybe someone from TWP can fill in the gaps). Dali and Biyah assisted Sedgistan (Devonitians) near the end of his 2011 coup of The South Pacific and then the latter publicly revealed Sedge's identity, causing upheaval in The Rejected Realms. I believe Neenee also tried to tart her way to the Delegacy in TRR on a few occasions.

More recently, these four (along with Nevadar of Gatesville, who is not Empire, and some other co-conspirators) were responsible for the two day coup d'etat of Osiris in December 2012, but because of their very strong position in the region -- which they had secured through political manipulation, both of the region's legislation and the regional community -- they were not tried or convicted. They manipulated, subverted, and threatened Osiris throughout 2012 and 2013, bringing about the resignations of at least two Delegates through their constant pressure and intimidation. They were finally removed from Osiris in December 2013 by Venico, Koth, and myself, and we proceeded to establish the Osiris Fraternal Order to replace the Kemetic Republic of Osiris that they had so thoroughly rigged to meet their ends of manipulating the region.

Defying all reason, Dali and NK have been welcomed into the highest levels of the government of Lazarus, a defender region (Dali as Governor of Diplomacy, NK as Governor of Information) and Neenee was recently spotted in The West Pacific. One wonders when the Feeders and Sinkers will ever learn their lesson.

Sorry for the novella. That was the concise version. :P

The initial iteration of the Empire was led by a triumvirate of Lady Phedre, Lord Rahl and Lord Darkseid. Darkseid was not involved in the later activities of the Empire outside of TEP and was thus (apparently) written out of the history but he was there in the beginning and had a major role in 2008.

Some people discuss only what suits them and their own agenda. For example, Cormac left out his own, fairly recent (given the length of The Empire's history) involvement with The Empire.

I left out Darkseid because I viewed him (correctly) as being only part of The Empire of The East Pacific, and not the broader group known as Empire which has been involved in much more. The core group of Empire, the group still actively working together, are you, Biyah, Dali, and NK.

I left out my own involvement because I viewed it as insignificant and I don't believe I was ever part of your group; I think I was "included" to stroke my ego while I held some degree of power in Osiris. I didn't leave it out to obfuscate the fact that I had technically been Empire, which has been well known since I was called out for it in December when the OFO was established and you were all unceremoniously thrown onto the ash heap of Osiran history.

ACCEL was a multiregion alliance focused on capitalism. Its founding was spearheaded by the Meritocracy, though the Met soon became less involved as time wore on. Notable regions were Capitalist Paradise, Great Britain & Ireland, and the New Meritocracy and its prefectures.

Also, ACCEL stands for Alliance of Capitalists, Conservatives, and Economic Libertarians. The forums, now defunct would tell the history. The ACCEL was vehemently anti-WA (anti-UN at the time) just like the Merit was. Gatesville was also anti-WA and a good amount of time was spent trying to woo Gatesville by some members. IIRC, it never happened. At one point the ACCEL was a fairly powerful alliance dominated by the leading conservative figures of the day.

Ultimately, the game's downturn in the late aught's hit the ACCEL. With the Merit's decline and move towards games not named NationStates the ACCEL soon became defunct. Other than the Merit, the ACCEL was led by members of the region Galts gulch. I put that in tags just to see if the region still exists....

For those looking to do research here's the forum address: accel.jactivism.com/forums . However, as I said they are defunct.

EDIT: Unrelated note, Fo' sho' TWP will always have love for NeeNee. :)

Neenee has been in TWP for longer than I can remember, heck, for longer than I have ever been around for, and her ties with TWP are beyond NS, so I don't see how any activity with Empire whatsoever can change that. Neenee's loyal bond to the region transcends her activities elsewhere - it always would.
So while I understand where Cormac is coming from, I think he should also understand that genuine friendships and genuine bonds with a particular region do exist. :)

ACCEL was a pretty big deal in it's day. Under Jargongrad, the DEN captured a few of their regions.

And this is the actual resolution.
