Talkos was Freedom Fighters, the group I set up after the Pacific Army collapsed because of the betrayal of the Savage Lands.

Would it be possible to get a brief overview of the pre-Francos Spain history of the Pacific. Before Francos went into dictator mode, my experience with the Pacific was pretty much exclusively as a place to send recruiting telegrams to. My focus then was almost exclusively on player created regions.

There is a little info of this time on The Pacific's wiki and I don't believe anything about it is found on the current forum. I would like to see this.

I would think that whatever information one might consider reliable might be on the original ADN, GLA, and Pac A, forums. The NPO proboards forums don't contain much, though they do contain the threads of a few ejected natives.

This was not written by me (I'm not entirely sure who wrote it) but it was posted on the Europeia Forums by Pope Lexus X back in '08. Its the History of the Pacific made to sound like epic fantasy - I don't know of the accuracy or lackthereof of it.

As culled from the most Ancient of Libraries in NS I give you the History of the Pacific. It is a work in progress so patience Comrades.

In the beginning there was the book, conceived and wrought out of the Mind of the Great Architect Maxious. He caused this book to be opened and it began to play the music which shaped the NS Earth. A mighty region took form out of the mist of this music and he named it Pacifica. Realizing this was a world he created yet couldn't rule as flesh he wrought the terrible Eldar [Violet] with a piece of his mind and a piece of his heart.

[Violet] awakened and cast his sight around the barrenness which was NS Earth. Only Pacifica had taken form and she was raw, empty and looming. [Violet] heard the music and began his own variations to it carving a place for those soon to arrive to speak with the Eldars. He decided to name it PHiloPaniaBBy, a forum for all to be heard. A place to petition the Eldar spirits for assistance and redress of grievances. A place for the children of the NS Earth to negotiate and treat with each other. It would be holy ground, feared and revered by all.

NS Earth was still unpeopled. [Violet] had known the the Great Architect had meant for it to support all diversity. The Great Architect had meant more Eldars to be made. [Violet] had not known when, or where but he did know the vision and prepared. The first and holiest decree of the Eldar was formed then, only one nation may hold Priest Status in the Nations United Assembly for each of the children of NS.

One day the music drew in the first of the first to Pacifica, they heard the music and began adding their own variations to it making beautiful the places they touched on Pacifica. [Violet] watched silently as the Great Architect's vision unfolded, then morphed then changed again. Each day more and more were drawn into NS Earth by the music and they weaved it into their own patterns building a symphony which grew ever louder, diverse, chaotic and beautiful. Names like Raevyn, the Met and Marathon. [Violet] became very busy roaming all over NS Earth as the Firstlings and newcomers spilled out of Pacifica in every direction weaving their parts of the music into the ever expanding Opus creating new lands which rose and crashed under the waves ever more rapidly.

[Violet] still oversaw the petitions in the great Forums of PHPBB. The demands for justice and assistance grew ever louder and shrill as more often the individual Symphonys conflicted with each other threatening to tear the Opus. [Violet] cried out to the Great Architect for help, for the time of the Eldars to pass. The Great Architect remained impassive and uncommunicative all the while drinking in the ever changing music he had begun.

Pacifica was being overwhelmed by those being drawn in to NS Earth by the music leaching outside. [Violet] caused new portals to the mist to rise up out of the waters. Pacifica was now Pacific, she birthed the younger world of the South Pacific, the North Pacific, the West Pacific and lastly the East Pacific. More streamed through the Portals into the NS Earth until the music shook the very ground and buildings. The Great Forums creaked and strained with the petitioners all clamouring for notice. [violet] grew weary for the music was all consuming but the first of the Eldars arrived. She was Reploid. Beautiful as she was terrible. A sword of Justice and of Love. Love which burst forth in beautiful paintings and song. It was she who attracted the musicians and artists. She heralded the coming Second age.

Names began to form which further shaped the interactions of the children of NS, the Firstlings. Loop, Ackbar, Architeuthis, Melkor, Neutered Sputniks, Germanica, Parratoga, Sheol, Iesus Christi. The names formed into Kingdoms and the Kingdoms evitably clashed. The Kingdom of the Farkers were the first to bring wrath and devastation on a scale which shook NS Earth. Entire Regions were laid waste to them and their mission of battle with basic evil and elitism. As with all nations, sometimes they battled outright evil and sometimes they toyed to amuse themselves. In the end they forged the path of Invasion which would brutalize the world in lesser hands.

It was in these days of chaos and blood Mammothistan, Pierconium and Adder were forged and wandered the NS world from Mother Pacific. There was much to do to stabilize the world. In those days there were great battles fought which they saw and were hurt by. Pierconium tired and sought respite in the halls of the Inactive, he returned later when the NS earth whispered for him to come back and leave the dead behind. Whole Regions had risen and crashed into the earth making it a much different place.

[violet] looked upon the chaos and was troubled. More Eldars were created. Hack, slaglands, Melkor amongst others. The great forums cracked and strained under the weight of demands. Great evil walked freely over NS Earth unimpeded with all manner of Invasions, spamming and Hideous Human ideals like Nazism and Eugenics. Germanica greatest and most terrible of the National Socialists refused to remove his crooked crosses which were outlawed and was smote into nothingness by [violet]. The mark of Hitler was slain and forever removed from the NS Earth. Parratoga his consort remained alone to rally his followers and continued to whisper the message of evil until she too passed into oblivion, tired and yearning for the sleep of inactivity. Into the void she went searching for her love.

Other Kingdoms bent on Domination rose up. The Alliance of the Atlantic, Sythia and his followers, GDODAD. All swirled out of the mist seizing unawares. The Farkers descended on the Heartland with changed forever the landscape of NS Earth. Ineptia, ruler of the Heartland was lord over his domain, a domain of Actors and Thespians. Pleas for help were sent all over NS Earth and the Kingdoms responded. The Kingdoms of the South Pacific, Trust in the Lord all sent troops to relieve the beleagered Heartland. Weeks it dragged out neither side victorious, stalemated and exhausted fom the wrestling. One morning the Farkers left realizing the error of their intent. [violet] however had been watching and was filled with wrath.

[violet] appeared to Ineptia King of the Heartland and held cousel with him. So impressed was [violet] Ineptia was made an Eldar and much was changed in the world. [violet] released magic to the Kings of NS Earth. Delegate Kings now had the power to banish nations who transgressed the natural order of the regions. Kings could protect entrance into their regions with mystical charms which only they could make and pass on to their Thralls and Lords. They could become Minor Gods called "Founders" and retain those powers regardless of who became King Delegate over the region. Mother Pacific was denied the protection of Magical charms blocking Invaders as was her children the North, South, East and West. These regions were left to decide their Kings solely on the desires of their Peoples, not the Desires of the Ruling house.

[violet] caused another great region to be made whole out of the mist. The Rejected Realms. She was the keeper of all those who were banished, exiled and Rejected in the NS Earth. She would be the last and only place in all the music and mist where one could not be banished from. If one did not see the error of their ways there the only recourse would be the Eldars smiting them back into the dust from which they had been formed. Kandarin appeared out of the mists and took the throne over the Underworld. He ruled fairly and just and the Eldar listened to his petitions.

The Rise of the Third Age

By this time the First era had truly drawn to a close even then a distant misty memory in the collective consciousness. The masses of First born who had rent the portals wide open following the music had reached their Nadir. Masses passed on to the halls of Oblivion generating Storms in the Books of the Pacifics the names would fly by so fast. A great quiet descended over the Pacifics. Before there was chaos and vibrancy, now the Books of happenings no longer filled so quickly with the thoughts of the Nations. It the first age they would turn pages every two minutes. Now they could sit for 20 hours, open and lifeless.

The populations of the Great Pacifics dwindled away. In their glory they numbered upwards of 20 000 each, more than there were stars in the skies. Now they sat at 6 000. Uneasiness spread amongst those of the Pacific, were the portals closed? Had the music stopped? [violet] was mute, but still they heard the song. They looked around the world to see the Regions that had been crafted by the hands of the Firstborn. They numbered like snowflakes and were just as different. Whispers of exotic places like Wysteria, Land of Lions and the Meritocracy grew stronger. News of battles between the Firstborn grew more frequent. The Atlantic was reaching its full stride and it entered into its unholy alliance with the Meritocracy. There was whispers the Rejected and Exiled were angry they were cast out into the Rejected Realms and were forging weapons, preparing to exact their revenge on the NS Earth. The had chosen a General, Gres.

Meanwhile Troops who had filtered back to the South Pacific from the Battle of the Heartland came back to a much deadened land. Its life had faded and it hosted new strangers. The delegate King Killer Monkeys remained on the throne but held counsel with nations that were not there when the Crusaders left. Then one day a traitor named New Ali raised himself amongst them and swore a covenant of darkness with the Atlantic. He overthrew the Delegate King Killer Monkeys and wore the crown. Enraged they were betrayed so they Crusaders rose up and deposed the Pretender and restored Killer Monkeys to the crown. He had however grown weak and suspicious. He purposely looked over the Crusaders when he built his Privy council and mocked them. Angered at the ingratitude and insult they decided to place one of their own on the Throne, The Queen Goddessness. She was the Warrior Queen who sent help wherever it was needed. Around her grew the cult of the Goddess which numbered over a hundred nations. She pursued the Atlantic over the NS world and the Armies of the South Pacific gave no quarter wherever they found them.

The East Pacific fell under the boot of the Atlantic, the Farker Empire saw this and descended on them freeing it of them. At that time the East Pacific was the smallest of the children of Mother Pacific, the portal had dried and no one had passed through seeking the music in a long time. Suddenly the portal opened and new nations came spilling out, the Farker Kingdom was surprised and immediately knew this was something quite beyond their talents. They realized they had a grave responsibility to protect these Newlings and determined to make the East Pacific a place of safety where the Newlings would be able to prosper unhindered. Among them a Prince named Loop was named Regent and Custodian and he held the Region close to his breast. He swore he would nurture this into his own vision. He became known as Flagmaker and his banners flew all over the NS Earth. He provided the much needed identities for the nations bereft of the abilities of Reploid the Eldar. He coloured the World and gave sight to [violet]'s song. The East Pacific however drew the attention of other's who sought to rule it under Darkness.

Deep in the pits of the Rejected Realms plans were made to crush the East Pacific and subjegate it Then on the appointed night they came spilling out of the Rejected Realms and descended on the East Pacific. Farkers, East Pacificans, South Pacificans and even remnants of the Atlantic fought side by side to try and hold back the hordes all bearing the Red hand of Gres on their helms. The valleys ran deep and red but the day was lost and the Dark ones had taken the throne. Gres ascended and defiled the Crown of Loop by placing it on his brow while the legions of the RR looked on cheering in their twisted voices. This had not gone unnoticed by the Eldars who grew very angry. Gres had sinned the ultimate sin and had more than one priest amongst his lands who wore the right to stand counted in the Nations United. Retribution was swift and they were all smote into the very dust they stood on. Dumbfounded the defenders looked on at the divine attack watching as whole Divisions disappeared into fiery balls of smoke. When all was finished they staggered back into the throne room and Loop placed the smouldering Crown back on his brow. Once again all was set right but it was not over. Gres resisted passing into the Halls of Oblivion and came back to life as Phoenix Gres. All regarded this with a wary eye. Kandarin as Lord and Delegate King of the land which spawned them demanded they return. He was greatly troubled and turned away from making war, he bent the will of the Rejected and exiled to assist and not destroy. Build and not undermine. Even so they spread quietly through the world as an Army which embraced and rejected their home.

The Music falters

The music was a chaotic feverish pitch now. So many themes reverberated and clashed it began to lose its place, become disjointed in time. Whole nations stopped growing for weeks at a time. Others took on freakish proportions and began growing exponentially. All the time the music kept playing and [violet] looked on trying to tame the chords as it hurt the children of the NS Earth.

The North Pacific fell into chaos. The Delegate King Nastic so loved his people he stepped off the throne in order they reaffirm him or choose another. He wished to rule because they wanted him, not because he held them. Another stepped in as Regent while he sought the support to return and he was cast out of the Kingdom. The people were furious and they railed against the Pretender, his name lost in all the annals. Realizing he was wrong after a week of this he allowed Nastic to return lifting the magical ban of the music on him. Nastic returned and he regained the throne after many days of acrimony. The Pretender faded away into obscurity reviled and alone.

Even so Nastic was grieved and hurt by this and the wound was deep and far from sight. Everyday the long hand cast its shadow over his countenance and his heart drew farther away from the kingdom of the North Pacific. Adder tried to comfort the wounded King but to no avail, Nastic's eye wandered far and away to where he might contemplate away from the place which loved him and wounded him so deeply.

In the Queendom of the South Pacific the Government was being formed which allowed the people a voice. Tired of the overloaded Forums of the Eldars the people erected their own where they would communicate amongst themselves drawing away from the Justice of the Music and building their own. The Eldars had favorites and did not hear most pleas for help. The Eldars refused to legitimize the truth of the Temples the Kingdoms of NS Earth had erected and would not admit evidence from them when petitions were brought to the Forums of the Eldar. Life in the South Pacific had advanced and there was great tranquility and vibrancy. Then one day the music stopped.

More correctly the Music twisted and hurt the people striking them from the Books of the accounted. The Queendom of the Goddessness had half the names of her supporters struck from the Register of the Nations United because of this rend in the Music. Pleas to the Eldars fell on deaf ears, it is the nature of the music they said and they would not intervene. Goddessness was wounded deep and could not recover, she mounted her horse and went into exile in the Heartland followed by her faithful Lords as an escort for another had now been placed on the throne by the music. XYZ Affair. A nation who had not been endorsed by the people but the Music. Adder travelled back to the South Pacific with Pierconium entering through a seperate pass and waited. The very air crackled with the intense electricity of an impending storm..

XYZ Affair awoke and flexed their cruel muscles immediately casting all out who may threaten them. Adder rode in the attack against the citadel of the South Pacific when XYZ unleashed their terrible Magic and smote the riders from their mounts casting them into the Rejected Realms. Wounded and unable to return Adder watched the ensuing conflagration laying broken on the rocks. Mammothistan lifted him gently onto his own horse and took him away where he mended. Wave after wave crashed into the citadel weakening the XYZ affair until one day they were cast off the throne by the Fathoms Below. Adder restored returned to the South Pacific and was grieved. He found Bistmath and Tsunamy morosely picking through the ruins of the Forum they all had erected which was now blackened and broken. Slowly, the peoples of the South Pacific began to rebuild what they could find under the eye of Fathoms Below. When all was complete they suddenly felt the lash of betrayal as Fathoms Below began flinging everyone in sight in the Rejected Realms. Pierconium was amazed and rode into the battle riding straight up to the breach. Another stranger came into the embattled land answering the pleas for help. LadyRebels. She entered in through the passes of the Western Ranges from the West Pacific.

All the while the Eldars refused to help despite the fact it was their music that they tended who caused the rift. Fathoms Below tired of the great evil they started and exiled themselves to the Rejected Realms and the South Pacific entered a turbulent time where a new King was crowned every day then smote by the Eldar for offending the law of Priests in the Nations United. Finally the Lands stabilized and the fight stopped when LadyRebels was crowned. Under her the Lands realized stability and the process for rebuilding was begun anew. Much had been lost and destroyed. The remaining from the other times began in earnest, Bistmath, Geomania and Tsunamy among others rebuilt what they could and crafted new where it had been lost. Pierconium had still felt the call of the world and departed quietly. Many were disturbed when it was discovered LadyRebels had the insignia of the Altantic on her sleeve. She swore she would keep the Atlantic away but many regarded her carefully. So much destruction and pain had already happened they had no strength left to fight. Such ended the reign of the Goddess and the reign of the Queen LadyRebels began.

Some departed and followed the Goddess, others made their way outwards never to be seen again. Many others stayed. Much anger and distrust had formed because of the Eldars, many cursed them and realized they were fallible, too proud to set straight the confusion they wrought. All the while [violet] silently regarded the scene, realizing the music was untameable with his talents he raised up one among the mortals and gave him magic over only the notes. He was called Salusa Secondus and the name they gave him was Modling. To him fell the task of arranging the music taming its terrible power.

Nastic's heart grew heavier as he saw what had happened elsewhere. He dispatched part of his tribe to the Heartland following the Goddess and her Guardians into the safety of its walls. He revelled in its wonders and felt his bonds to the North Pacific lessen. Here he felt his wounds heal and his memories of the pain lessen. One day, he quietly decided to take leave of the throne and walked away and was not seen in the North Pacific again until more dangerous times.

The cult of the Goddess cried out for the return of the Warrior Queen, but deep was the wound in her heart. She had tried to rally her people against the walls of the XYZ affair but was flung into the Rejected Realms. Realizing her time was waning she stayed in the Heartland watching the sun set. No amount of comfort from her Lords could revive her spirits. Ineptia, Eldar King of the Heartland allowed the cult to rejoin the Goddess. The cult was comprised entirely of Sapphic witches who bound themselves to the Goddess for her outspoken views. As they filed in Ineptia realized almost all had violated the Highest of all laws. Out of 120 adherents one had 105 priests entered into the Nations United. As was the penalty Ineptia smote them into the dust and Goddessness was truly finished with the NS world. She realized one Sapphic witch covetted her and it was too much. She rolled over and closed her eyes and willed herself to sleep, she did not wake up until she arrived in the halls of Oblivion. Her Lords smashed their weapons in anger and swore revenge against the Eldars which allowed the complete destruction of all they wrought.

It would not be the last time such an Oath would be sworn.

The Great Revolution

All the while as the world burned and crumbled, rebuilt and made beautiful Mother Pacific moved ahead stately. Delegate Kings rose and fell, their monuments collapsing into the sands stretching out as far as one could see and forgotten. Chaos ruled her and the nations could not agree, swords were raised up against one another and the Gods ruling the land were discord.

Into this Unlimited crossed through the portal, his birth into Mother Pacific was directly into the chaos who reigned supreme. Shortly after, Thorin followed. Their first battles would be the most terrible the Pacific had ever seen, the ferocity even now fading into memory.

The DelegateQueen of the South Pacific Ladyrebels had shunned her ties to the Atlantic tearing off her badges and flinging them into the face of the Commander Pilmour. No more would she allow them to dictate affairs in the South Pacific. This caused great anger in the already fractured ranks because Pilmour was not loved. Ever more the Atlantic lessened as Troops melted away in the night disillusioned and tired. The South Pacific finally unified because of this and the DelegateQueen solidified her hold on the Throne. Even so the Atlantic circled just over the horizon just waiting for a weakness to exploit. Mammothistan and Adder quietly regarded these events and withdrew their cohorts away, Mammoth over the Mountains and away violating Pilmour's decrees and Adder releasing the Goddessness's Lords to pursue their ends, the first to follow the Goddess into Oblivion was Corwell. In their hearts the Wars of the South Pacific were over and they yearned not for more blood. Unnoticed Franco and his Viceroy Poskrebyshev passed into the Pacific.

Franco had ranged freely over NS Earth and was troubled by the news of the Pacific and the chaos which beset her. He watched from afar as the DelegateKings battled for control spawning discord ever greater. InfernoIce, Savagelands and Thedoc were among the last of the line of the troubled times. Thedoc sat on the throne when Franco made his way into the Pacific from the Outerreaches. The reign of Thedoc was a weak one, great discord and indecision were the marks of his rule. It was an all consuming roar with no direction spilling out into the book of the Region. An ineffectual forum was built where favorites gamboled about and little was accomplished. The lands were stagnant and dying. Franco set about rallying the people, gaining support looking to ascend the throne. He envisioned peace, stability and prosperity and the people yearned for it as well. Steadily he rose in influence and the lords of the land counted themselves more and more in his following until Thedoc noticed and was afraid. Afraid because the music struck 100 names from his Book giving him the right to rule some weeks before. Afraid because he had lost the love and faith of the People because he had not been able to regain them. Thedoc saw he would lose the throne if Franco was allowed to continue but he was afraid to unleash his power to remove Franco and banish him. Again Indecision bound him.

Franco surpassed Thedoc in the Book of Reckoning and the next time the Music repeated the Crown would be passed. Thedoc acted quickly and used the magic while it still resided in him and banished Franco to the Rejected Realms. Not knowing he had to wait until the music repeated for Franco's Book to be wiped clean he removed Franco's name from the book of the Exiled. Franco returned to the Pacific and was full of Fury, the music repeated and tore the Crown from Thedoc's head. Franco felt the magic enter into him in a surge and cast out Thedoc from the Pacific. Thedoc's Lords arose in a fury and filled the book of Happenings and the Forum of the Pacific with their outrage overlooking Thedoc had first exiled Franco. Full blown civil war erupted and the blood and insult ran freely.

Hard years of war, pestilence and fear descended on Mother Pacific and would temper her children into a steel like no man has ever wrought.

The Great Patriotic War

Franco rallied his supporters immediately to face the onslaught of Thedoc's supporters. Realizing they were not strong enough to overtake Franco and his support they spread out across NS to recruit aid. Much attention was cast on Mother Pacific from the rest of the world, it began as a slow hum and grew louder fuelled by half truths and outright lies. Desperately Thedoc the Unready assailed the Pacific casting his troops on to the defences like chaff. The bodies piled so high in front of the defenders it became difficult to move forward, blood was up to the bits of the horses and the lamentations of the wounded filled the air. The Francoist defenders watched the waves attack and then be cut down like wheat before a scythe as the rebels charged into the volleys. There was no air of Victory, only the stillness of the waste and Franco was troubled by the senselessness of the slaughter that was thrust on him.

Unlimited rose up and questioned Franco why he would allow this. Franco regarded him quietly and banished him for his lack of faith in the rightness of the cause. Unlimited realized his error and petitioned Franco for an audience, this was granted. The two talked as men and left as friends their faith restored in one another. In very short order Unlimited assumed his place on the right of Franco as the Vanguard of the Revolution. Poskrebyshev the left as the Grand Viceroy. InfernoIce, Bertram Stantrous were conferred as Captains of the Cohorts and made Senators. It was then that Franco mounted the highest point of the Inner wall and addressed the Nations defending the Pacific Revolution. He unfurled the mighty banner that all would regard with a respect and fear not ever seen before in the world, the Blue and Black Banner of the NPO. A quiet descended as the People took in the sight and made it their own. It was then the New Pacific Order was truly born. The exiles regarded the sight from the other side of the walls as the Blue and Black Banner snapped in the wind and hate filled their hearts. A great uneasiness spread out over NS as the peoples of the outerreaches realized something very powerful and unyeilding had been born and tempered in steel and blood.
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

Who is Kalibarr, and why would Klaus Devastorie ask if I am him in disguise?

Cool, cool.

Another rather melodramatic telling of events between the August Revolution and Franco stepping down would be OPArsenal's Early Pacifican History, it includes excerpts of an interview of Unlimited by Emperor Matthuis for The Northern Telegraph.

Plenty of mistakes there. Such as saying Francos Spain banned Thedoc immediately. He did not. He waited till just before the major update the next day (so almost 24 hours after becoming delegate). Had he not done so, Thedoc would have reclaimed the delegacy.

Is this because the rules would have forced Francos to only eject him (I thought the griefing rules came a few months later to be honest), so Thedoc could have endo-surfed back in before the major? 'cause otherwise I don't see why Thedoc would have claimed the delegacy at the Major, regardless of when Francos banned him?

Also, is it true that Francos was originally kicked by Thedoc, but then Francos endo-surfed and avoided losing his endos? I heard this in an interview with Savage Lands.

No, Francos was allowed to ban him (and countless of others). I was just trying to say that near the next update, Francos endorsement count had dropped considerably, so had he not banned Thedoc, he would have lost the delegacy because of that.

He did ban Francos, but unbanned him before he lost his endorsements. Mostly because people didn't like seeing people getting banned. It were very different times.

Ah okay, so the major difference from the reality and the myth, you're suggesting is that Francos was actually relatively unpopular as soon as he became delegate and people were removing endorsements a lot during the next twenty-four hours? Or as Francos would say "the malicious spammers were slandering my reputation with lies and deceit", or something like that.

So Francos didn't neccessarily have the objective of removing Thedoc from the region specifically, he just needed to or else he would have lost the delegacy; then afterwards he cooked up some grand story about how he overthrew with the intention of ridding the Pacific of Thedoc the Exploiter? etc.

The Tolkeinesque history by Unlimited was an interesting read, even if there were a lot of things that left me scratching my head. The Early Pacifican History also pretty much glosses over the Pre-Francos era as a bad thing that they rectified.

The reign of the NPO in the Pacific certainly was a high profile event that caused a lot of waves across the NationStates World, but I'm really interested in pre-Francos history in the Pacific.

I think you are asking for something that might be impossible to nail down. The statement "The earth was without form and void" comes to mind.

There is a reason they still view Franco's Spain as their founder. Beyond the cult culture that was created after his departure, he was the first to bring order from the chaos in TP. Just as those who remember the glory days of the off-sites know it was Godessness and TSP who were first to forge a regional culture and government based in an off-site forum. (Although it could be argued the Farkers did that first in the same way the NPO exported itself to CN)

Hmm, I don't know. I distinctively remember The Pacific having an offsite forum in the pre-Francos Spain era (under the delegacies of TheDoc and The Savage Lands). Also weren't Pacific Army founded before Francos Spain took over? That sounds like a pretty established community to me.

TP under TheDoc was already quite organized, it's a disservice to them to buy into the NPO propaganda of those days that back then TP was 'chaos'. They had an off-site forum, like so many other regions. Their undoing was TheDoc's kind-hearted nature, whereas Francos Spain was far more cutthroat. TheDoc could've kept Francos Spain on the banlist and Francos Spain wouldn't have been more than a temporary nuisance, a typical endoswapper.

I was thinking it was Mammoth who wrote it as well, I saw a piece by him that was very similar at least during my research.

I did find some allegations that suggests The Pacific was terrorized by InfernoIce for a lot of the pre-Francos era, first as Sudetenland, then as InfernoIce and then as -Ukraine- (all the same player, allegedly). I know -Ukraine- was cited as "Served from May 16 2003 onwards, replacing Jell-O as the delegate. -Ukraine- apparently banned "at least" thirty nations within the first few hours of his reign "because of their differing political view, opposition to his delegacy, and those he simply "did not like"."

Of course InfernoIce served for Francos Spain later on during his reign.

What I would be interested in, is if the Original TheDoc Pacific forum can be tracked down. I'd imagine it's Proboards. It's too bad TheDoc never did any interviews, Savage Lands interview is quite informative though.

Well that was easy, here's what The Pacific looked like during TheDoc's reign: http://web.archive.org/web/200306251624 ... he_pacific

As you can see, the WFE is rather polite and not really anarchic or dictator-like at all really. It also includes the link to the forum, but the forum doesn't seem to be active anymore. :/

EDIT: Looks like you to pay to keep those kinds of forums up, what a shame.

Not sure if your Wayback link in the subsequent post was supposed to date the start of TP's forum, but I know of at least 2 regions that had forums around earlier in June.

Monkey Island's first member joined the forums on 2 June 2003. (First user)
Texas's first member joined the forums on 8 June 2003. (First user)

I wasn't active then (I didn't join the game until August of that year), so I can't offer a personal account as to "who had forums first." And, it's possible that TP (or another region) had forums prior to that. Can any of the other Antiquities clarify any further?
