That's one of the Top 10 most horrifying things I've ever seen on NS, and I'm including the porn spam in that list.

Can someone confirm game mechanics for me.

Is it possible to stop your nation updating and population increasing constantly moving between a late updating region to an early updated region which has already updated?

If so, does anyone want to make a "Peter Pan" group where we try to jump as many updates as we can and compare nations as time goes on, so one day we can see 3 year old nations still on 5 million pop.

More effective way of doing that would be making a region that updates towards the end and filling it with desired nations. All the founder has to do is kick the nations out between TRR and the regions update during updates. Then the nations move back b4 next update. That way u won't need everyone to be on every singke update just the one person.

Hmm and with officers we could have more than one enforcer. Participants only need to remember to return back from the TRR before the next update, but they have 12 hours for that.

I suppose the biggest issue with this idea is that you could create a nation and let it CTE and then revive it 5 years later to achieve the same result.

It would be up to the players (and tools like NS history) to show who was committed to slipping past every update legit.

I'm not quite sure about that, i'd imagine there is some sort of mechanic to ensure all nations are updated

No, they're idea is viable. Its called update-surfing, and can be used to make it so the nation neither loses endorsements by updating out of the region nor influence by updating out of the region. If you surf around the update like they're talking about your nation will never update, and if it never updates your population will never increase.

There used to be a bug whereby the opposite process worked too, so that a nation moving from an already-updated region into one that was yet to update could gain new population twice, but that was fixed lonnng ago...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

I hadn't heard that bit before. How in NS did a negative population work?

My favourite bug was when you moved so closely to update, the server didn’t recognize you had moved. You were hidden away for infinity.

You couldn’t be ejected and banned because you were in neither region, you couldn’t update, you couldn’t be endorsed because you weren’t in the same region as anyone - as far as the server was concerned.

I know I left a few puppets out there in the nether worlds. You can’t find them without a nation link.

I think it was purely cosmetic, like with the 5 million population April Fool's joke. But to be honest, I'm not sure. Just thought it was amusing.

I'm not sure how the formulas work, but I think it's possible you might have been automatically the worst performing nation on a number of censuses.

Ah the race condition glitch. Had a case or two where raids/defenses were muddied by this. I *think* Ballo did some tinkering to make it less likely, I don't know that he eliminated it completely though.

We still see it happen sometimes, nations which just don't show up on the happenings at all even though they registered a move.
