Technically, I was the one who suggested Sedge should be a mod, so I'm to blame... or rather Sedge is to blame... or....

You nominated Sedge, Sedge nominated me... you are to blame for not only bringing me into gameplay, but ultimately me becoming a mod. How you sleep at night is beyond me :p

It gets worse... someone might have floated the idea of 'Mallorea the moderator' to me. And I may have given it two thumbs up. So, definitely Sedge is to blame.

Glad we've got that settled.

To answer your question though: yes we're looking to inject some life into the SC and having a mod who knows it well who wants to lead the charge would be helpful.

That is the hope. It's long overdue, but I don't have the time to push for that given that most of my time is spent on issues now.

That sounds awesome. I think it's something the SC really needs as a spark. Things seem to be getting quite dull around the ol' Three Walls Bar. ;)

And the defender mods are still defending. We're defending raiders :p

I have Cerian Quilor nations made all the way out to IX, I think, just waiting to be brought back in a Sinker. I used to use them as citizenship nations in various places so everyone who know it was me, but I missed my older, pre-CQ nations too much.

Of course, I'm trying very hard *not* to get this nation DEATed.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

I'd like to think that I was the first R/D'er to name GP puppets in the "Mall1" "Mall2" etc tradition. I can't imagine that I am the first person to do so though.

I'm endlessly creative in terms of torturing the native menace. Not so much with nation names.

I come up with tons of creative names for my military puppets. But using them for GP would get confuzzling.

Ain't it the truth? Seems like the defenders that get nominated always pull a David Souter.

I had to look that one up too. I know what you're saying in terms of my gameplaying actions (for the year that I continued actively gameplaying before stepping back to be Game Modded) - I couped/invaded a feeder, though I do have to point out that I was responsible for keeping TRR as a defender-aligned region by winning an election over Guy who intended to allow the region to raid too. However, in terms of what I've done as a mod, I've always seen it as my place to advance both causes (plus wider gameplay too).

When in the past we've looked for a mod with a raider alignment, it's not because we think that they'd be all pro-raider in terms of their mod decisions to balance the rest of us die-hard defenders out, but because they offer a different perspective and set of experiences that the rest of us lack.

Pffff. Sedgistan 1 was basically my main nation for a while, and I had up to Sedgistan 12 scattered around places for defending / influence gathering purposes. Even back in 2006 it wasn't original.

Somewhat surprised by the lack of interest in nominating people. We've received a nomination or two, but I would have thought y'all would jump on the opportunity to subvert the team.

That's because the SC doesn't have a lot of good candidates, only really two main options.

BBD - but not sure if he'd want to be a mod, nor about the pushing whole new frontier thing, but he's probably the best choice if the SC wasn't getting some hinted cool new feature (Feature Feb, [v]'s been active and around, and nothing that warranted a news post since Dec).

Kaboom - new, enthusiastic and knows basics, but again, is new, and also the whole wants to be mod bit kind of ruled him out. Think he'd do alright though, just haven't spent enough time with him to give him a full hearted endorsement.

The other regulars are either not active enough/won't be active in the future, or don't have the actual knowledge etc.

Possibly getting a GAer who dabbles in SC? Though not sure how GP supportive they are, IA's probably the most pro gameplay (that I know of), and he's forced to neutrality due to the delegacy, but not sure about getting a non-GPer as mod for SC.

I can think of a few others that could potentially do it, but they might not accept it. Needless to say, I've sent in my nomination.
