Get some new material, this shit went out of style before I even started playing.

I wasn't so much attacking Cormac's side-switching as I was mentioning the fact that Cormac personally ordered a defender military to do the thing he is now criticizing Ravania for before his latest side-switch. I had just put my WA on my Christmas nation because I was going to be unable to do update over the holidays, and this would enable defenders to pile on a "native delegate" if necessary (and it was Cormac who called me a native delegate in his post...). Cormac was the one that ordered troops to pre-emptively endorse me.

I was only posting the orders relayed to me by a superior. Technically, yes, I was the one who gave the order, but the order didn't originate with me and wasn't my idea. *shrugs*

That's probably down to you only popping in to play spam games or complain about raids in regions to which you don't actually contribute once in a while (coughosiriscoughprettymucheverywhereelsetoocough). *shrugging intensifies*

Technically calling something a Nuremberg defense is not comparing something to Nazism because the term has been used to apply to the "only following orders" defense ever since the trials. It is a term that stands on its own now. Though generally referring to the following of superior orders not a subordinates suggestion someone just went along with.

Yeah, just gonna quote that up, to second what Topid's saying. The Nuremburg Defense, as a term, has long since outgrown its reference to the Nuremburg Trials. It's literally the term now for stuff that's using the argument of "only following orders". One of the more notable non-Nuremburg examples would bet the My Lai Massacre, which used the argument, so it's certainly outgrown what it was originally referencing.

Probably so. I don't use the term actively, I'm just establishing that it's unlikely that BearsArmed is attempting to actually compare Invaders to Nazis, but rather to simply cite the terminology associated with the "I was just following orders" argument. According to the lovely source of Wikipedia, it might be better known as "Superior Orders". *shrugs*

And that's the way we like it damn it! Plus, it's not like NSG where it's a chat thread amongst dozens of debate topics. I'd argue that with GP, we chat plenty outside of the chat thread since most of our chatter carries loose relation to whatever thread it's in due to the all-encompassing nature of some of the GP topics. We basically seem to go here more when we get bored of the GP topics. This is different to something like TET where it seems a large part of the community is TET-focussed rather than NSG as a whole.

It probably also doesn't help that the people who might chat in this thread tend to chat enough as it is through irc and other fancy mediums.
