If the Pacifics are feeders, then the so called sinkers (minus TRR) are regurgitators.

Oh man, I think that's almost up there with "Why does everybody hate Nationstates 2?" for being a real can of worms.

The very heavily abridged version is that Tapatalk bought out Zetaboards, which for quite awhile was a very popular service for hosting free forums. A LOT of regions used Zeta, it offered a solid blend of utility and customization options. When Tapatalk took over, they basically gutted it in the process of converting Zetaboards over to Tapatalk's system. Many features that used to be free became paid premiums, and even then the customization options were basically hot garbage compared to the old system. I'm sure folks who were on the front lines of the transition can provide better details, but essentially Tapatalk took a perfectly functional system and "fixed" it into oblivion.

I can elaborate on that, but first I need a microtransaction of only $1.99 :p

This is the Gameplay chat thread - and thus posts here should be to do with gameplay.

Basically this, as taken from the OP. It's our general chat thread to talk about whatever as long as it's Gameplay-related. Also the only chat thread permitted in Gameplay.

There is slight leeway as long as it doesn't turn into another forum or get out of hand.

I actually considered that one. Refounder Regions would abbreviate to RR, and TRR not being one is confusing.

Phoenix regions are just good PR, too. :P

Thought you being impeached as AC of the FRA lead to you making UDL?

The first article of impeachment was directing the FRA against Devonitians. The author of that impeachment article was (not incidentally) Devonitians.

Politicization was the issue. Internal political resistance challenged the FRA when it sought to liberate TSP and TNP. Member regions, TRR and Equilism, held clout that perverted the decision-making of the organization. This was all spelled out in the first paragraph of the UDL's mandate from 2011. Moving from a super-regional organization to a group of individuals was intended to address the leverage that member-regions had previously had on mass defender organizations. Ironically, UDL's reputation is generally that it was too political.

I call utter bullshit on this one. You had a lot of WA's, organized they were not. Massive bunch of headless chickens would be a better description. I ending up running updates in your channel a few times because you and your officers were never there ( except Rav  ). You were good at getting people to show up, horrible at the rest of it.

Getting people to show up is the most important step of defending. You can't hope to liberate if you don't have the numbers.

The UDL scaled itself much larger than the FRA because the UDL was designed to be scaled outward and that was my hope for it.

You believe that a defender has to fit inside your own mold. That's why you're constantly trumpeting your update record and sizing everyone up by how many updates they join. My goal was to build a defender organization large enough to liberate occupied regions from TBR, TBH, and LWU et. al.

Heh you were hardcore rejected, you weren't welcome.

I'm afraid it's a worse fate than that. Most of my old friends and my enemies have left, most of the energy is gone. It's like that Lennon song, "Watching the Wheels" - except the wheels didn't keep on turning.

I haven't checked threads/IRC logs, and I'm only going off a hazy memory, but I think the motivation for people voting to impeach was unhappiness with the direction you were leading the FRA, rather than your actions over the Devonitians coup. The handling of the coup was probably just a convenient excuse.

Sedge is a mod again? Great, that is just what the game needed.

I have a question, is defending on the decline? I see a few new raider orgs out there on the battlefield, finding success. But the defenders are no where to be seen to contrast said success of those invading and destroying regions.

Who does it need saving from? A nice list of nation names would be helpful, as well as whatever spurious offences you wish them to be punished for.

Hi, Block. I was actually wanting to know the answer to a similar question - how's invader/defender activity these days? I've been told by some people that it's not nearly as high as it was a few years back.

Nah, it genuinely makes me pleased when players who I used to have to smack around regularly for rules violations move past that and stick around for the long-term.

That is most certainly true. Early 2019, defending seemed to have collapsed. Holds with 4 endorsements were allowed to go on for 2 weeks before they were liberated. Then several raider officers retired or went inactive, while defending was given an opportunity to catch a break and get things up and running again. Only there were hardly any big raids going on to defend against, so that wasn't ideal either. As of recent, raider officers have started getting active again and some new faces have shown up, while defending is alive again too, to a certain degree. While R/D is decently active again, it certainly isn't as active as it used to be.

Pretty much this. The coup really didn't have the impact of fomenting dissatisfaction of Unibot as Arch Chancellor. It was already there simmering in the pot beforehand.
