This is all just proving my point in UDL is indeed in a decline. Many of the troops aren't quick enough and whoever is doing your triggers is not doing an adequate job. It's a shame, really.

Hmmm. My approach here is rather different from Uni's.

Europeia is an invader region. If it moves into a region making claims it's gonna do 'good', I regard that claim as not trustworthy and worthy of countermeasures.

More generally, I don't see why it would be reasonable that Defenders must explain themselves to invaders. In that sense invaders have way more to explain anyway, and they brush that away with a simple reference to them having fun (at the expense of others, of course). All those in here criticizing the UDL should spend a couple months working hard to help innocent natives all over NS and then come back after they've learned that doing Good is always better than relishing in Darkness.

We received "instructions" to attend the IRC briefing only to be met by a series of suspicious control freaks incapable of issuing any coherent direction or orders which rapidly deteriorated into the resulting debacle.

Yes, we were in experienced and make no denials of it, but its kinda hard to "do as you are told" when you are not actually "told" what to do by those supposedly doing the telling. We, however learnt a lot from the episode, the main one being without trust there is no chance of success. As co-ordinators you were not prepared to trust us, and we have not forgotten that fact.

Still, our principles will never gel with yours so I will not prolong this war of words- Defending per se has noble intentions, but your (UDL) agenda is rather too nebulous to have any lasting attraction to us, inherently pre-occupied as it is with preserving the status quo of the "Establishment" and propagation of the Defender/Invader foxtrot.

As a not very informed observer -- so, obviously, the best kind -- I can say that it's obvious that this kind of thing would happen to UDL, problems with its leadership or raving conspiracy theories completely aside. Y'all aren't a region. You therefore don't have the ties of loyalty that bind people to you in the same way that a region does. People get fed up with a leader, get bored, get burned out in a region and 9 times out of 10 they work it out because they've got a lot invested in the region. People get fed up with UDL and they say, "I don't have time for this sh...tuff, check y'all later." It really is probably that simple.

You'd be quite surprised that there is a lot of loyalty to the UDL even though its not a region. As an RPer, I might just not be used to gameplayer dynamics, but although regions mean a hell of a lot, even more so probably in RPing than in Gameplay considering the exclusivity of the RPing regions, alliances and other IC entities that exist out of regions can take a lot of loyalty form its members, OoCly sometimes much more than any region can, across all facets of NS. Just because the UDL isn't a region, does not mean that its members cannot have the same, or sometimes even more loyalty than a region. Just because its not a physical entity on Nationstates, does not mean that people can't invest a lot of in and I know a hell of a lot of people who have invested a hell of a lot in the UDL and are extremely loyal to it, including myself.
