Barring any larger nation just having been refounded in the last 24 hours or so, the largest nation in the game is Kyupaa with a population of 19.295 billion.

Why does NSTracker list Lamoni as the largest population even though the ones mentioned here surpass him?

Because NS tracker is buggy, as are most of the nation/regions statistics scripts.

That's not gonna work that easily. Imagine a whopping 1000 new players log on tomorrow, arriving out of nowhere. On day one they will have a combined population of 5 billion. The top 10 players combined will have them outnumbered about 38 to 1. After a month of playing these thousand new players will have a combined population of about 134 billion. The top 10 players will then still outnumber them, though by that time only at a rate of about 1.44 to 1.

The bottom of that page says: "Currently tracking 1098 nations", so I'm guessing it's not tracking all 81665 nations currently in the game.

Tracker statistics are based off "tracked" nations or in other words, nations that have registered accounts. That will be changing soon to World statistics since many players confuse the two.

The bottom of that page says: "Currently tracking 1098 nations", so I'm guessing it's not tracking all 81665 nations currently in the game.

The tracker database contains information on every nation within the game that existed at the time of the last major update. There are 1098 nations registered with the site that are tracking their daily figures. That line will be modified to remove any confusion there as well.

I thought I had a big nation, but I'm still ~500 million behind the top.

I've been playing since before April 03 (I don't remember exactly when I started but it was definitely before V1.4 and the introduction of regional controls)

I guess any nation bigger must have been playing pretty much from the very beginning (or had the pop bug at some point)
