GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: the_free_persons_1336018588
Political Freedom Act
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
Category: Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: The Free Persons

Description: The World Assembly:

RECOGNIZES: That there are nations that have outlawed or rare political freedoms.

UNDERSTANDS: That when political freedoms are outlawed, the people have no say in their government thereby making it in no way democratic. When the people have no say in their government, the government can control every aspect of their lives and deny them their basic human rights.

MAKES IT ILLEGAL TO: Pass any legislation that would consequently give the nation's political freedom rank a title of outlawed, rare, or of any title between.

REQUIRES: That all nations that are members of the World Assembly, new or old, with a political freedom ranking of "rare" or lower, pass legislation that increases political freedom as soon as the opportunity comes. These nations must continue to pass legislation that expands political freedoms until it achieves a political freedom title higher than "rare".

MANDATES: That all nations achieve a political freedom ranking higher than "rare" within three months of the passing of this resolution.

Encourages: All World Assembly member nations to continue to give their citizens more political freedoms. It also encourages the nations to increase their economic freedoms as well as civil rights for their citizens.

I dunno, looks mostly all right to me. Maybe a little metagaming, game mechanics, ideology bans, etc; but not all that much I suppose.

Not exactly. All three mandatory clauses are metagaming. MANDATES is Game Mechanics too. The proposal taken as a whole is an Ideological Ban of any ideology that has low political freedoms. I only phrased it as a throwaway because I thought all those were obvious.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL

Free Elections Act

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Lakotia

Description: Description: The World Assembly,

BELIEVING that all people have the right to vote to let their government know what they demand of it,

CONCERNED that many members of the World Assembly deny the right of an election,

HEREBY demands the following of all member nations:

1. Free elections will be held in all member nations.
a) Free is defined as open to all citizens of a nation and not barred for anyone on any basis except if they are non-citizens, have committed a crime under the respective nation's laws, or are under the age that is legally recognized in the nation as the beginning of adulthood.

2. Free elections will NOT necessarily change the government of the nation in any way if the government chooses. They will simply provide all governments a tool to use if they wish to take into consideration the views of the constituency when determining legislation.

3. What will be voted on in the elections can be determined by the government or the people at the government's discretion.

4. Any and all dictatorships will not be eliminated (as implied in clause 2).

5. Elections will be held at the nearest time that is convenient for the nation.
