Marijuana Legalization
A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use
Decision: Legalize
Proposed by: Elcana

Description: As the world is finally realizing marijuana has no bad effects, it is time to let our people use it responsibily. By agreeing, your nation will legalize personal use of marijuana and medicinal use of marijuana, and the laws of alcohol use will apply to marijuana use. Selling it without being employed by the government funded "coffe shops" will still be illegal. It's time that marijuana is finally recognized as a harmless drug and becomes legal.

So, if they fixed this so it wasn't a blogposal, it would, in my case, do absolutely nothing, because the only place in Zaklen where alcohol use is legal is in a religious ceremony of a religion that is large enough to be recognized by the state. As far as I know, no form of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, or Buddhism that falls under that category has a ritual requiring pot. Of course, Marijuana is legal in Zaklen anyway.

Rephrase: So, if alcohol isn't legal, this does nothing?

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

ategory: Repeal

Resolution: GA#2

Proposed by: Alden

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #2: Rights and Duties of WA States (Category: Political Stability; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The Nations of the World Assembly,
REJECTING the weak and fool-hardy sentiment of "national sovereignty",
BELIEVING that a strong and empowered centralized international body is necessary for the progress of the world,
LAMENTING the ability of the World Assembly to intervene where and whenever its influence is weak,
EXPECTING the passage of the repeal of General Assembly Resolution #2 to be followed closely by a resolution to finalize the World Assembly's absolute international authority,
HEREBY REPEALS General Assembly Resolution #2.

Approvals: 1 (Koridina)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 74 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 5 hours

Is there such a thing as Intfed Only?

I actually don't know if this would be "illegal" per se, but it's definitely Silly.

There's also the fact that it may affect game mechanics too. (After all, he's asking for the same currency to be used across member nations.)

It's either Game Mechanics (if he wants the ability to name our currencies taken away) or Metagaming (if he just wants us all to name our currencies the same thing).

Freedom to Bear Arms

A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Category: Gun Control
Decision: Relax
Proposed by: Castille de Italia

Description: Recognizing that in some nations, gun bans are common and unfair.

Acknowledging that some people have no way to defend themselves if an intruder enters their home. Guns would be necessary to protect lives.

Also Acknowledging that it is necaessary that guns not be outlawed, because people should be gauranteed the right to bear arms, as with any other right.

Stating that education on guns can teach young people responsibility, and will provide them trust, which in turn they will give more respect.

Also Stating that if a intruder enter a home, people should at least be able to have a gun to protect their lives and their families.

Noting that some peoples should not be permitted to own weapons however, such as, felons, mentally impaired, and registered sex-offenders.

In Conclusion all gun bans should be lifted, to increase civil and personal liberties, to decrease burgalry rates, to decrease all crime altogether.
Ignoring the atrocious spelling, you have to wonder what the last two clauses are doing in the same proposal. One states that some people should not be allowed to own guns, then the last clause lifts all gun bans which presumable includes those that prevent people like those mentioned in the previous clause from owning weapons.

Enforcement of Drug Use
A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use
Decision: Outlaw
Proposed by: Dubriland

Description: In order to keep our citizens of our nations healthy and safe, and seeing as the usage of drugs lowers both health and safety in our citizens, the World Assembly announces the enforcement of the following laws:

-All non-pharmaceutical drugs are illegal, and the creation, trading, purchasing, and usage of them are crimes.

-The usage of prescription drugs for recreation is illegal.

-The usage of cigars, cigarettes, and other similar items are banned.

-The smuggling of any of the above mentioned into a country is illegal.

-All government officials shall discourage the use of drugs.

-No exceptions shall be placed in any of the above laws, and every person convicted, no matter what, shall face equal charges.

The World Assembly, hoping to give citizens a safer, healthier, happier life, bans all drug creation and usage.

I don't know whats worse, the "make weed legal, man" proposals, or the draconian "make everything illegal" proposals. And why is tobacco included with recreational drugs?

Illegal for "title doesn't match contents"? After all, the title clearly suggests that the proposal would promote drug-use rather than outlaw it...

Not really...it may seem like that upon first impressions, but read through it, and you realise very quickly that the title matches it perfectly, it just requires a little rethinking on definition.

Ban Extraordinary Rendition

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Of the Free Socialist Territories

Description: The General Assembly;

APPALLED by the practice of 'extraordinary rendition' (whereby detainees are transferred from a nation that does not allow torture to one which does, to "ease the flow" of testimony from the suspect),

SICKENED that even in today's supposedly civilised day and age, this barbaric and unethical practice still goes ahead,

ALARMED that no action has been taken, nor resolutions passed, by the World Assembly to combat this worldwide breach of the human right to humane treatment,

MANDATES the following actions against nations who practice extraordinary rendition, regardless of the crimes the detainee is alleged to have committed:

1) Condemnation proposals to be put to the Security Council for all nations that extraordinarily render their detainees,
2) Trade sanctions for all nations that extraordinarily render their detainees,
3) Expulsion of ambassadors of all nations that extraordinarily render their detainees,

and HEREBY BANS the foul practice known as 'extraordinary rendition'.

I think this has already been covered; Extradition Rights certainly makes reference to that.
Edit: Yes it is: Clause 4 of Prevention of Torture

International Security Reform
A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Geezy For Life

Violence impedes human freedom to live safely and securely and can sustain poverty traps
in many communities.
As the world become a more dangerous place, The World Assembly member nations must act swiftly in the interests of peace. By increasing military budgets worldwide will we be able to increase international peace and global security.
This resolution, if passed, will have strong significance to improving international security.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 76 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 3 hours

Proposed by: USI

Description: This proposal is based on: To make Alcohol consumption mandatory only for ages 21 years and above. Below 21 years would lead to judicially scrutinizing the respected person and legally jailed.

Article 1: The World Assembly makes it mandatory for all the nation members to allow Liquor or Alcohol consumption only for people aged 21 years and above.

Article 2: If persons below the age of 21 years caught consuming liquor or alcohol would be prosecuted legally and awarded the highest punishment of their respective countries.

I'd say wrong category, micromanagement, and that last bit makes me cringe. If below 21 then they get the "highest punishment", which could make underage drinking rather annoying for nations with the death penalty.

All in all, poorly thought out, category violation, poorly written and just nonsense.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

Oh hell, he's one of mine!
Edit: I've sent a TG to USI, explaining the situation, and how he can go about proposals for next time. I'm glad he's been picked up now on his first attempt, instead of further down the line.
