Petroleum Tanker Standards

A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: All Businesses

Proposed by: North Davku Company

Description: RECOGNIZING the need to transportation oil and natural gas across oceans

RECOGNIZING that the transport of oil and natural gas is vital to many national economies

NOTING that many other nations rely on natural gas and oil imports for their oil and natural gas supply

RECOGNIZING the great danger oil spills pose to surrounding animals, plants, and the ocean environment at large

FURTHER RECOGNIZING that triple hulled or triple bottom ships significantly lower the chances of an oil spill

Therefore, the World Assembly,

ESTABLISHES the World Assembly Oil Transportation Committee to:
1. Ensure oil tankers are kept up to meet requirements
2. To research methods to improve oil tankers and reduce the chance of a spill
3. To research more efficient clean up methods if an oil spill does occur
4. To acquire new technology from member states already possessing it at the member state's consent.
5. To take suggestions of new technology from member states.

MANDATES that every new oil tanker must be equipped with at least a Triple hull or Triple bottom to decrease chances of an oil spill;

REQUIRES non-proprietary Triple-hulled technology be made available to shipbuilders, and that proprietary Triple-hulled technology be made available at reasonable rate of return for the developer of the technology;

ALSO REQUIRES that all double-hulled and single-hulled tankers are to be phased out and replaced with either triple-bottom or triple-hulled tankers at the earliest possible time;

MANDATES that each new tanker be equipped with a proper ventilation system for the main tank;

MANDATES that every tanker is to have proper equipment on board to quickly put out fires aboard the vessel;

MANDATES that tanker captains must quickly and promptly report oil spills to the marine and environmental authorities of member states affected so the spill can be quickly contained;

URGES nations to implement other or better safety features aboard oil tankers other than what is specified here

Haha. Why didnt the WA use this one instead of the double hulled tanker?

Screw that, it needs to be 8,001 hulls dude.

Wrong.

We must need eco-friendly catamarans and trimarans operating under either wind or solar power, with whatever liquid is carried to be carried in special leak-proof and break-proof titanium 1 gallon (4 liter) containers wrapped in a minimum of 3 feet (1 meter) of natural cushioning each, and a captains key as the only means to open each container in order to ensure against any subsequent potential leaks from the containers. The cargo hold must also be free floating spring controlled inside the hull as further assurance that any potential disaster cannot cause leakage.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

Repeal "On Abortion"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#128
Proposed by: UK Independence Party

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #128: On Abortion (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: This application for repeal also recognises the controversy and conflicting views that are so commonly associated with abortion.

I also am in accordance with the act, in the sense of legality of abortion if the mother did not consent with the intercourse that led to her pregnancy and severe abnormality within the womb.

However, the act totally dismisses religious viewpoints and some nation states may be avid followers of Catholicism or Islam, both are vehemently opposed to abortion.

Surely, this act violates the principle of this democratic assembly as nation states are subjected to laws that are in direct contradistinction to their national religion. I do accept that some states are secularist yet a nation has a right to follow a religion and to implement legislation which rejects the notion of their religion, is profoundly offensive and a failure of democracy.

Also, the act mentions no possibility of the pending mother being enabled to abort the baby on the basis that she does not want it or to raise it would not be economically viable. The mother's feelings and economic status are not take into consideration, which does make me uncomfortable.

In addition, the next of kin should not be allowed to make the crucial decision as it is not their body. To do so, would be a grave violation of a person's liberty and personal freedom.

If the current act allows states to legalise abortion for some reasons but not make it illegal due to religious stances, poses a question of bias and discrimination against religion, as a whole.

Increase Income Tax Rate
A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity
Area of Effect: Educational
Proposed by: Conhalert

Description: We have programs that are very dear to us all whether it be welfare, education, police and firefighters, etc. I believe we need a slightly higher income tax in order to fund more of these programs that we have. The following will explain this:

1. Increase the tax rate of every citizen for each nation by 2%.

2. The additional money earned may be used to fund anything the government of the nation wants.

3. Nations with progressive taxing or flat tax must be raised by the 2% said.

4. Nations who do not have any form of government at all are exempt from this additional tax.

5. The 2% added to the current income tax level will create a minimum level in which the income tax rate of each nation must be. (I.E. If this added tax raises your income tax to 20% from 18%, the minimum rate of tax your nation must have is 20%)

6. If a legislative issue comes along to decrease the income tax rate, the legislation cannot lower it unless this proposition is repealed.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 78 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 8 hours

The Diplomatic Immunity of Bears Armed Mission has not approved this proposal.

Illegal, for... wrong category, game mechanics (affect tax rate), meta-gaming (affect issue choices), and contradiction of existing legislation...

Game mechanics, and just stupid

Equalization of Marriage Act
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: Conhalert

Description: When it comes to the right of privacy, marriage seems to be out of this. We try and tell people who they can and cannot marry when they have a right to love whoever they want and whoever they want to marry. The following will explain the proposal:

1. All nations MUST legalize same sex marriage and grant same sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples.

2. All nations MUST legalize the marriage between a man and an animal and grant same rights.

3. All nations MUST legalize marriage between family members and grant them the same rights.

4. This also includes adoption rights for all.

5. We do not have a right to say to someone what they can or cannot do with their own life and body, so the humane thing to do is legalize this all and grant everyone equality.

6. Thinking progressively, this will bring us all one step closer to equality of all.

pointless and pathetic duplication for the most part. Bloody stupid for the rest of it.

Death Penalty for Terrorists
A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

Category: Political Stability
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: Conhalert

Description: The Nation Conhalert would like to call upon the World Assembly to vote upon the following in regards to the death penalty:

1. The death penalty in all nations in the "World Assembly" must be legal only under the circumstance that the guilty party committed an act of terrorism, according to what each nation may consider terrorism.

2. However, in order to enact the death penalty in this way, the one who committed the act of terrorism must be prosecuted in a fair trial and judged by their peers.

3. No matter what the terrorist act was, no matter how big or small it was, all people who committed the act of terrorism will be given the death penalty. No exceptions.

I guess actually reading what has already been passed is just too difficult for some people. Branding, too.

Proper Disposal Act
A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental
Industry Affected: All Businesses
Proposed by: The Epic Llama Lords

Description: Many industries don't dispose of their waste in a safe manner. Factories release their CO2 into the atmosphere via smokestacks. Oil refineries dump their waste into the rivers and oceans of many nations. The Proper Disposal Act proposes that World Assembly members must take proper action to ensure that companies of all industries dispose of their waste in a way that would harm the environment in the least way.

You agree with pointless and stupid one-liners? Really? If you think a repeal of that resolution is such a wonderful idea, then try THIS, which is actually well written and with some thought behind it.

Supporting "bloody stupid" is not a good plan.

Repeal "Freedom of Marriage Act"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#15
Proposed by: Hamiltonya

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #15: Freedom of Marriage Act (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Though the intended purpose of the “Freedom of Marriage Act” is to allow marriage between individuals despite gender or sexual orientation, it fails to go far enough.

It clearly lacks an article to protect the right to marriage for couples of differing race.

The World Assembly shall not withhold marriage from opposite race couples, and therefore shall repeal the “Freedom of Marriage Act” in order to create the opportunity for a wider-encompassing resolution.

This shall protect the right to marriage for opposite-race couples as well as same-gender couples.

Seeking the opportunity to introduce a more effective version of this resolution to the World Assembly,

The World Assembly hereby repeals “Freedom of Marriage Act”.
You have to admit, that's a new tactic for trying to repeal this one.
