A preface: G-Tech Corporation is a roleplayer most known for his involvement in Portal to the Multiverse, where he has been active since at least 2013 (though according to G-Tech, he has been on the forums since 2010) all the way up to the present day, where he is still running RPs. He served as P2TM Mentor from the very beginning to the very end of the Mentor program. G-Tech was also one of the pioneers of rules-based game mechanics in RPs on P2TM, which have had a devoted following and showcase the effort and detail he puts into making his RPs.

Category: Commendation| Nominee: G-Tech Corporation| Proposed by: Excidium Planetis

Description: The Security Council,

Having long observed the progress of the corporate conglomerate known as the G-Tech Corporation, including its expansion from the international stage into the much more spectacular multiversal stage following its discovery of portals that enable access to innumerable other dimensions,

Believing that the time has come to recognize this corporate entity for its numerous and long lasting accomplishments,

Calling particular attention to G-Tech Corporation's various expeditions into the multiverse, including, but by absolutely no means limited to:
  • Their discovery of New Civilizations in a universe in which ageless beings with an inexplicable knowledge of future events were responsible for shaping the course of history. Of particular note is their detailed chronicling of the history of the Imperium of Man, ruled by the immortal Viktor Matveyev Nemtsov, whose exploits include the relentless and near fanatical domination of much of an entire continent.
  • Their involvement in the alternate universe known as the Forge of Empires, where they catalogued the deeds of the Mughal Empire and the Sultanate of Delhi, including their struggles against the Celestial Kingdom of Yindu and the various imperial powers which supported it.
  • The Misadventures of the Wicked Sir Winthrop Eddleton the Younger, known for being "OK at Necromancing" but being "[expletive removed] good" at Steampunk Machine manufacturing, and his creation of an unstoppable army of robotic Tree-based clockwork soldiers, his nuclear destruction of the capital city of Altamont, and his subsequent subjugation of Valormen to create a world free of Anarchy and Chaos. These events drew the ire of the omnipotent being Xanatos, Lord of the Dead City.

Recalling fondly the many enjoyable, best-selling turn-based strategy board games that have been marketed by the G-Tech Corporation, which have been lauded internationally for their rich and complex rule systems, such as:
  • The historical fantasy game series A Different World, including its many expansions such as Age of Darkness, where players can take control of such factions as the Brotherhood of Corvus or the Taiyang Dynasty, as they explore a world of magic and gather resources, construct settlements, and expand into new territories. The game received critical acclaim for its detailed and original worldbuilding, and went on to spawn numerous sequel expansions.
  • Mass Effect Factions, based on an incredibly popular science fiction series, where players, using their unique faction bonuses, can construct planetary facilities, purchase starships, and install upgrades, all with the aim to decide the fate of this fictional galaxy. The game was very well-received and brought joy to many of its players.
  • Homeworld, a cooperative survival game, where players take command of various spaceships and must work together to explore new areas, mine resources, and brave the procedurally generated threats to their ships' survival. The game was praised for its modular ship design and extensive technology progression tree, as well as for its difficulty and the tension created by its random encounters.

Acknowledging the G-Tech Corporation's involvement and leadership in the region of Ankh Mauta, one of the first regions to embrace portal exploration and once home to a vibrant community of multiversal nations, and that during a time of uncertainty following the disappearance of the region's founding nation, the G-Tech Corporation took charge to help preserve Ankh Mauta's legacy, in part by barring entry to the region to those without a password and the recommendation of nations within Ankh Mauta, in order to prevent incursions by roving bands of raiders,

Hereby Commends G-Tech Corporation.

My lone qualm is a very small one. Why “the portals that enable access”? I would just drop the “the”.

What notable things did they do in the position? If there's nothing exceptional, you should honestly just scrap this because G-Tech's roleplaying is very commendable anyway.

Fair enough. From my understanding, they had to retake the region after it became founderless and got raided, but I don't believe this incident was particularly worthy of mention in the Commendation. I can scrap that clause, it was mainly included to add a little more to the length of the Commendation.

Oh how wonderful! I’m so happy to see someone finally recognizing G-Tech’s work in P2TM :) Just for my curiosity’s sake, have they consented to a commendation?

I have to imagine you could probably write a better condemn for them too, their vibes were never exactly on the hero side iirc :p

Yes. I consulted with G-Tech before beginning drafting and he seemed positive to the idea. Even helped point me to specific RPs he was fond of to include in the Commendation.

I have to imagine you could probably write a better condemn for them too, their vibes were never exactly on the hero side iirc :p

Definitely possible (G-Tech described himself as a kindred soul to Lex Luthor), but I think the Commendation fits too.

Also, very happy to see you comment, since I used your Commendation of Zarkenis Ultima as a guideline for this proposal!

Strong support for RP commendations.

I think it could be a little longer though. Maybe go into one G-Tech is particularly fond of and elaborate a lot more on the world and details?

Also, Ankh Mauta seems to be a region with a lot of other P2TMers, so I don't think that should be excluded, though maybe you could use another angle for its inclusion

OOC: The part I’ve bolded could be a real-life reference concern, unless you intended to use those nation names in a non real-life context.

Those were the names of the nations that G-Tech RPed in Forge of Empires. I understand that the Mughal Empire is a real world Empire, but surely roleplaying as a nation that bears the name of a real life thing can still be mentioned in the context of NationStates?

Since it’s referencing an NS thing, it’s perfectly legal. I’m not a mod, but this was a name from an in-universe country they role played and that’s within the SC rules.

When asked, G-Tech said he was most fond of the New Civilizations RPs, which have been going on for several years now. I can go into greater detail on those ones, I suppose.

Different World was also pointed out as a good one, and it really does look good, but the way I framed the mechanics based RPs as board games makes it a little difficult to go into detail on exact RP interactions. I'll see what I can do.

Also, Ankh Mauta seems to be a region with a lot of other P2TMers, so I don't think that should be excluded, though maybe you could use another angle for its inclusion

This is true. According to the regional factbook, it was even the first region to use the P2TM tag, though I don't know if G-Tech was responsible for that.

Just wanted clarification on that, no other complaints from me at this time ;)

Did you mean "innumerable" (i.e. uncountable) here instead of "enumerable" (i.e. countable)? It seemed a bit odd to specify that the other dimensions are countable, but maybe I'm missing some P2TM reference here!

Despite being based on an existing property, the game was nevertheless well-received and brought joy to many of its players.

Compared to the very enthusiastic praise for the other two roleplays in this section, this sentence stuck out to me as being a bit vague/ungenerous in its accolade.

Praising the G-Tech Corporation for their many-years work in guiding newly founded nations and helping them to grow, by calling upon the G-Tech Corporation's vast experience gained from exploring the multiverse,

Grammatically, I think this should be "many years' work" or "many years of work". Also, perhaps it's just me but the second half of this sentence reads a bit awkward to me - maybe "gained from" can be replaced by "of"?

That’s how it was for Zark’s commend when I ran into a similar question so I assume the ruling stands

EDIT: Or was it Gholgoth? I can’t remember, but I did for one of em

Yes, I did, and it has been fixed.

Compared to the very enthusiastic praise for the other two roleplays in this section, this sentence stuck out to me as being a bit vague/ungenerous in its accolade.

Yes, on further consideration, it did seem a little negative considering this is supposed to be a recognition of G-Tech's achievements. I removed the mention of being based on an existing property, I could perhaps be less vague but I will need to learn more about the RP and/or ask participants.

Grammatically, I think this should be "many years' work" or "many years of work". Also, perhaps it's just me but the second half of this sentence reads a bit awkward to me - maybe "gained from" can be replaced by "of"?

I took your first suggestion, but I think I would like to leave "gained from". Or maybe "gleaned from"? Using "of" just seems so basic.

I have added the clause back in, with additional details on the significance of Ankh Mauta as a region in regards to this Commendation. What do you think of the clause as it is now?

What did this army do? This isn't bad as-is, but it would really be good if you could find an example of something the army did, eg defeat some opponent in battle or whatever.

"Preserve Ankh Mauta's legacy" how? This could also use greater detail.

Good luck!

Upon further reading, they got their asses kicked by unicorns, apparently. I have added some additional details of further events in this RP.

G-Tech became delegate and password locked the region to prevent a takeover by raiders. He also implemented a system where newcomers needed a current resident to vouch for them to gain entry. It is unknown to me whether there was ever any real attempt by a raider organization to take the region or if these were just precautions. I have added this information to the current draft.
