I would not be at all surprised if Quebec was right. My post was fueled by nostalgia and a quick look at Greece's region page.

I stopped having any involvement with Greece a couple months after its refounding, at that time my understanding was that Tim had access to the founder account. My leaving NS for a couple years between then and now means that my knowledge of Greece since refounding is spotty at best, especially since nearly all the players I knew from before that seem to be gone and I have no offsite contacts for any of them (at least not in a post-IRC world )

In any case, whoever is running Greece is hardly doing then any more favours than the Sassanian Empire/Yauna did in terms of regional development, if not regional stability. While people like Karpathos had more of a vision of community-development. Although that may be a discussion for a different thread than this one.

The snarky comments about how ineffectual my posts are could do better to remain unsaid though since my goal was hardly to sway votes, especially at this point; for once in my life I was reminiscing rather than agendaposting, a paradigm which Quebec has displayed little ability to move out of.

Thanks! Interesting that Nikolaos was one of the more involved original natives who I worked with. I thought he would've grown the region much more based on his historic position on that. The nation that I knew him under has long CTEd so I've been assuming that it isn't him running the account but I can't rightfully say I know for certain.

And finally I was a member of Tim's Nday faction, largely due to my previous role in Canopy when they joined. The last Nday, because Tim decided to boot most of the smaller regions from the faction, and I was informed of this a mere 5 days before the event started, and missed out on a good 5 weeks of planning, and he did this while using my guide for his own faction without permission(the last of which was admittedly an accident and shouldn't be held against him, but still stung. like getting uninvited from the party and coming home to find they took your booze). Still I could forgive all that, if not for the fact that this also broke Canopies record of finishing the event without radiation.

I don't really care about the other salt and bickering, but as someone who was in the command rooms during this, it's pretty dishonest. The decision to down-size was made by both mega-factions. It is our bad that Palatine wasn't directly informed, but to pretend Tim alone was responsible for the down-sizing as some ploy to boot smaller regions is ridiculous and bitter.

Speaking of the guide, CARD also used a guide inspired by yours, I believe? Even so, as I understand it, your guide was adapted to Potato when Canopy largely joined it. We then continued using it, since it was pre-existing Potato material as we understood it. It's ironic you complain about us not informing you of the down-sizing quickly enough, you used this to strong-arm us into an NAP with Palatine at the absolute last minute just days before the event.

You're well within your right to request your guide is no longer used if you're no longer in Potato, but to pretend we kicked you to the curb at Tim's behest and attempted to continue to use your resources is completely detached from reality. We, the same as CoTA, engaged in good-faith downsizing and continued to use what we understood to be Potato materials at the time.

If you're gonna be mad at Tim and bitter, at least keep it about vague things or a skewed retelling of a refound in 2017, and a twisted version of one half of a story about an N-Day of all things.

I never made any statement about the intent of the decision, i can't know that, as I was not privy to the decision making. Merely the effect of the decision on Potato's allies under Tim's leadership, the thing he is being commended for in this proposal.
As for licensing of my work to and under what terms, Tim's involvement there was neither commendable nor disqualifying. Tim made an honest mistake and we were able to reach an agreement despite time constraints. If you have issues with my decisions, we can hash it out via discord, telegram or GP. None the less I thank you for informing me of CARD's use of it. That one annoys me even more.

Regarding Greece. The refutation, that he is not presently in control of the region, is a refutation of a strawman, and does not change that he resisted native calls for the region to be returned. Defenders should not need to be strongarmed into returning regions to native control.

It is odd though that you would talk of salt and bickering and then devote a full three paragraphs to my least severe objection.

Tim did not resist giving the region to natives. He resisted giving it to a specific native who went on to CTE in favor of a less rushed approach.

Haganham's description of the commendee driving his friends off of NationStates matched mine, despite Haganham hanging out in completely different communities than I have (10KI, Forest, TEP after 2018). The author called it "salt and bickering".

The author already admitted that nothing said here will change the vote, so why are they still minimizing the conduct of the player they're commending?

Because I believe Tim is a good person and player, that the posts of several individuals are baseless attempts at character assassination, and because I stand up for/defend my friends regardless of whether they're getting a badge in the end either way.

I admire that you stand up for and defend your friends regardless of circumstance. If it's baseless character assassination and Tim really is a good person, that's even more reason to speak up against what anyone says here. But as useless as it is to tell you this, Quebec, it's not baseless.
