The rule means that you cannot commend/condemn a site staff for actions that they do on a daily basis (admin work, site moderation, issues editing, etc.), but for stuff unrelated to that, you can still commend/condemn them.

Well, site staff duties (presumably) involve more than just banning nations. It means you can’t C/C for site staff actions. I’d assume it would be similarly illegal to commend a mod for adding new features to the game. So it encompasses more than just banning people.

It's like "[site staff member] should be condemned because they banned me for three days on the forum" compared to "[site staff member] should be condemned for leading a huge raiding network against harmless regions and being involved in countless raids."

The first one is illegal, but the second one is legal. I do know Jakker, a moderator, has a condemn badge because of their involvement in TBH and other raiding operations.

Fair enough I suppose. I simply think to act as though TUMS has experienced some extreme degree of antagonism unbefitting of the proposal is a bit odd to say the least. I really can’t see any specific harshness or dogpiling in this thread.

What dogpiling would that be? There was one comment that got smacked by New Vis and that was the sum of it. The author put their fingers in their ears and pressed forward even though they were told it was a terrible idea. If it was just a joke then that would have been fine, everyone could have had their fun and we could have moved on, but it's not. This is a badge hunt and you can tell that with the abysmal quality of the writing. Badge hunters are frowned up and will be called out by anyone who is paying attention. Given the fact the author tried to use the mods to silence any criticism is just the icing on the cake. So if you want to call out toxicity, you can start with the author on this one.

Notwithstanding that every proposal is a "badge hunt", as a process of actually playing the game to get some kind substantive value or reward out of the soul-crushing work one does on NS, this proposal is more of a meme than playing on a wave of populism to service one's self-interest. The SC has a long history of jokes and meme resolutions (I have waded through the records of all), and the viability of this one, with a cursory glance at TNP and TSP isn't that bad at the moment.

Oh it can be and will be called a badge hunt, as that is exactly what this is. This was totally trying to play on populism to service one's self-interest. This is the lowest possible hanging fruit on the tree at the moment, and was grabbed in hopes of scoring an authorship badge and possibly boosting ones Season 3 card value. The author can deny that all they want, but I have witnessed enough badge hunts in my time to spot one lightyears away. Now I will admit this hasn't been taken to Bitley levels yet, but I am not overly optimistic that the author wont try to buy the passage of this. Had the author wrote it and submitted for the lols just to see if it was legal and then withdrew it, things would be fine. But no, the author has full intentions of letting this go to vote to so we can waste three days watching it get slaughtered, or worse seeing it pass and watching the plethora of other badge hunters out there trip all over themselves trying to get a repeal of it passed so they can score an authorship badge on the lowest possible hanging fruit. Now you can call this endeavor whatever you want, but it sure walks and quacks like a duck to me, so I think we can all come to realize exactly what this is.
