As there is no evidence that this nation stood up for persecuted people following old religions or even condemned the genocides that happened with them in the past, we vote against this this motion.

There's been too much nastiness from both sides at points in this debate. Dial it back or refrain from posting.

Where?

You come here and you start throwing around unwarranted insults towards the author in question. There's no use playing dumb with me.

At the end of the day, you were hardly criticising the guy. You were being unnecessarily antagonistic from the very beginning. I understand that some people are blunt when it comes to things like these, but a line is drawn between blunt criticism and just downright insults. I will gladly go back and pick out which messages have been completely antagonistic towards the author who is frankly just putting an effort towards an online game, the smut he received was NOT necessary, whether you agree or disagree with this proposal. There are standards and most members should know that by now.

Again, this isn't about swinging the vote. It's about how the author received unwarranted foul behaviour from some of their peers.

Now that the voting is over:
Cappedore wrote:My sincerest apologies to TUMS who faced a horrific amount of toxicity - even from the older nations - in this thread. This whole thing could’ve been done without all the unwarranted bullshit.

Aside from the one person who got warned for flamebaiting, the feedback that The Unified Missourtama States received was not "toxic"; it was feedback on improving the proposal, and expressions of disapproval on a poor quality proposal being submitted without any drafting. When an author responds to that with sarky comments like "Great! I love you!", and claiming pride in their proposal (that they're only putting to vote as an experiment/bet) because "it is not total crap", it's not surprising that SCers are not impressed with their conduct. It was a waste of 4 days of voting time, at a moment when there is actually a queue of decent proposal waiting to be voted on. It didn't even have the defence that it was a funny joke proposal.

Aside from the flamebaiting, the debate in this thread was at a decent level until people started coming in complaining about the manner of criticism the author was receiving, at which point yes, it did turn unpleasant. But the narrative you and others are pushing that the SCers giving honest feedback on TUMS's timewasting is "toxic" is false.

Gorundu wrote:I encourage some people in this thread to read and reflect on this proverb: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all."

Bad advice. It's not nice to be told that your proposal is poor quality, undeserved or a waste of time, but if it is, the author should be told.

The SC does sometimes get heated, and there are some regulars (and irregulars) who can be overly snarky in their commentary at times. But there was none of that on show when people started jumping into the thread complaining about TUMS's treatment.

That's always been a foolish saying, used to hide from criticism more often than mean-spiritedness. This was a really bad resolution and it seems that the votes came down with that opinion.

This is not typically the interpretation. The voting page introduces these as "Resolution At Vote". A proposal is the stage of approval solicitation. When a proposal hits the voting floor, it is a resolution at that point.

This was a resolution that was failed.
