Unfortunately not, however Imgur seems to respond reasonably quickly to such material when they get reports about stuff like that on Imgur. Guess they don't want it on their site either.

it won't work on the approved sites because you have the .webp version. You need the .gif version for it to display correctly

What about some users/regions who self-host their images? For instances, we in TNP have all our image repository in the regional domain, and these images can no longer be embedded following these change. Would it be possible for such users/regions to apply for a whitelist too?

My apologies for not asking this when [v] made her original post three weeks ago, but why can players not be trusted to upload images from websites controlled by themselves or other players, even if those websites have no direct connection to NationStates? What makes websites controlled by non-players such as Imgur inherently more trustworthy than player-controlled websites, or is this due to the fact that - for example - Imgur swiftly removes inappropriate images while player-controlled image hosts might not?

I can't be super specific because it's a security issue, but when you hotlink an image, the forum goes ahead and downloads that image to test it's okay. The way it does this isn't ideal, not because of the image, but because of the download request. So we need to avoid making download requests to arbitrary user-selected and -controlled servers.

To anticipate the next question, the reason this isn't being fixed properly is because the forum needs to be replaced, and I don't want to delay the replacement while I patch holes in this thing, which then gets obsoleted.
