Semantically, one could argue that growing your meat supplies in "vats" -- as this occurs in factories, rather than 'on the land' -- counts... :p

lol

Anyway, will be submitting tommorrow now for real.

The title of this has also been changed.

The one defined in the proposal is not factory farming the way the word is commonly understood, and "all forms" suggests it refers to forms not defined.

But since you DO define factory farming as a specific thing for the proposal, the above problem would go away just by taking away "all forms", as then it would only apply to what you define.

No? Unless you can state exactly what forms of factory farming are missing...

OOC: All of them? It was pointed out to you earlier that you were wanting to ban very specific kinds of cages, based on your self-provided link and definitions. You calling it factory farming in the proposal doesn't change the fact that you're calling apples oranges instead. You can do that, you're allowed to make up terms and define things incorrectly, but that doesn't change the fact that they are incorrectly defined.

Links to Wikipedia were provided earlier.

So when you say "all forms of this", does that mean you also mean forms other than what you defined for the proposal?

Our delegation is disappointed that this resolution was submitted in this condition. We will not support its passage. We are concerned at the ill thought-out definitions, especially regarding factory farming and battery cages. Also, given the diversity of agricultural systems in WA nations, the resolution should offer countermeasures to the disruptions this would cause to economies, labor markets, regulations, and indeed the environment. Factory farming may be bad for the environment but shutting down farms that supply natural fertilizer, meat for scavenger animals, the livestock themselves and the communities that revolve around the farms would be a drastic move to ask agrarian nations to make. In short, you have felt your judgement about animal cruelty and the environment is so important that we should damn the struggling agrarian nations eh?

I guess you know what's best for them. And there's no need to offer aid or a transition window more than two years to make this feasible, let's just disrupt world economies practically overnight. I'm sure it will be fine /s.

Hello, delegate %NATION%!

I am The Python, a past WA author, and I kindly ask you to approve Greater Cesnica's and mine's GA proposal to ban factory farming, titled Factory Farming Ban. This proposal intends to ban one of the most cruel, barbaric current practices in our world currently, one that is an affront to the inherent dignity that farm animals possess. This has been worked on for more than a month now, and it would be great if you could approve!

Thanks!
Python

Good afternoon, delegate %NATION%,
I see that you recently approved Ban on Factory Farming, a proposal in the GA queue. I'm hoping to get you to withdraw your approval.
Factory farming is a pretty awful practice, but the proposal does a terrible way of defining the practice, and ensures that some practices used in factory farming go unregulated while some common agricultural practices are banned whether or not they are a problem. The proposal needs way more time and work, but it can't get any if it goes to vote and passes.
I would really appreciate it if you would withdraw your approval so we can improve on the concept. Would you please withdraw your approval?
Thank you for your kind attention, and I look forward to working with you again in the future. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
Best,
Sep

I do find it interesting that the countercampaign TG advocates the author to withdraw it and work on issues they feel about the draft. It's too late now but I bet a lot of concerns are due to what's in the resolution and less of the actual topic of banning or reducing factory farming as completely off the table.

Funny since those issues could be addressed with a second resolution.

As promised :p

Also, though it was a teensy bit late (my apologies), I did decide to draw up an IFV in hopes of helping push back against the initial stomp. Good luck, Python.

Ooc: right, the worst possible way to handle a drafting issue. GA proposals are held to high standards. The solution to issue isn't to address it again later unless it's impossible to address otherwise.

OOC: That is true, but now that this is at vote, I think I might as well support it, since I don’t see the issues raised important enough to be immediately addressed by the Assembly, but rather domestically and in a more flexible manner.

"Ambassador, allow me to put you in touch with Thassala's Secretary of International Trade," says Ambassador Callan, looking up from the proposal and over her half-moon spectacles. "We have long since mastered the art of vat-grown meat. I'm sure that Quantum Farms could meet all your culinary requirements without the need to resort to factory farming conditions."

She returns to reading through the proposal, the scrolling data on the inside of her spectacles barely visible.
