That telegram is oddly longer than the proposal itself. In fact, this is way better than the proposal itself. Should that be the proposal instead of that 2 lined condemnation of communist bloc. Well I guess we would all still hate it since Kazakhstan 3 already did that but still.

If I remember correctly, that person was in support of this. I think saying "punch a nazi, kill a fascist" is a pretty communist thing to say. I was active when this happened.

Uh, no, because them being a communist would mean they oppose this proposal.

That telegram is about 100 times better than the proposal it supports. Still doesn't merit condemnation, though. These matters are not worthy of SC recognition, but of recognition by the community OOCly and, where necessary, by site staff.

Imo it's ridiculous to vote for this resolution because you don't like TCB. You should vote based on the quality of a proposal, not based on how much you agree or disagree with the vague opinion behind it (whether that's "tcb bad" or "communist bad" or anything else). I just don't think it's a great idea to back poorly written proposals solely bc you like the sentiment.

You wouldn't get deleted for debating a proposal, it'd take flaming at the very least. WA or not, you are entitled to an opinion.

Understandable. I like to speak my mind, haven't gotten in any trouble yet. I'd like to keep it that way, too. I will probably make no further reply here other than reporting the abysmally low amount of votes for, and the incredibly high against.

Very concerned that there is the impression that debate of a proposal, including disagreeing with it, is the road to getting deleted. I'm further concerned that these impressions come from the resolution author's telegram sponsor, indicated by the previously screenshot campaign message.

I would clarify that the posts that were deleted from this thread were a collection of large spam images posted to this and every other thread within arms' reach, both in the SC board and in the GA board. It was not the result of a good faith debate of the subject. Hinting about a chilling effect is a severe overreaction.

Just going to chime in that debate and discussion is not going to get anybody deleted. Just keep said debate focused on the proposal and the arguments instead of attacking the person making the arguments or making snide insinuations about your opponents' intelligence/age/etc. I missed the spam attack, but the person who got nuked was a pure spammer spewing garbage on every thread they could hit. Not the first time we've had one of those, won't be the last. It's just rare a spammer specifically targets the WA forums like that.
