The Communist Bloc is a big region that's been around for a long while, and in that time, it has rightly faced its share of controversies brought on by its problematic leadership. (One such instance - wherein a once-amiable administration became radically exclusionary even to other communists - led to the very creation of the region in which I reside.) For any piece of its sordid history, however minuscule or distant, to be forever enshrined in the records of passed Security Council proposals would be to realize justice hitherto avoided by the festering corruption that pervades their community. I had, and continue to have, exceedingly low standards for any bill that, if passed, would force them - even if only in an exceedingly small way - to face reality and answer for their transgressions against any they feel do not sufficiently prostrate themselves before the foot of Stalin.

This proposal, defying all reason, has failed to meet even the lowest of these standards. I would go so far as to say that it is unequivocally unprincipled to cast a vote for it without jest. I challenge the author to succinctly write a bill with the express purpose of permitting me to breathe air in such a way that even I would vote against it, as I'm starting to suspect that this may actually be possible.

While I’m enjoying a good shitposting here, I do want to take a second to talk about this. As someone that is committed to pan-leftist and anti-sectarian principles, such as we have in TLA, I recognise those same principles in the modern TCB. It is filled with leftists of all stripes, and, far from being a “Stalinist”, TCB’s current First Minister is an anarchist.

Certainly, TCB has had a chequered past, and was excluded from the interregional Left for a long time as a result, but the modern TCB has been working for years now to shed any remnant of that past, and has done so very successfully, in my eyes. You may wish to reconsider allowing an old grudge to cloud your view of what is currently an open and inclusive pan-leftist community.

Ye, I specifically asked him why that wasn't in the proposal (one by telegram, other via this forum) and have yet to get a response, I'm still leaving the vote in favour of AGAINST, though if a 2nd one was made and isn't as crude as this one and HAS good arguments I will consider voting for

It has never ceased at pretending to be so; all that varies is their commitment to the bit. It was precisely their first attempts to fully ingratiate themselves with what they perceived as the "Interregional Left" that led to mass marginalization within their own community - not to mention the creation of splinter regions like mine. They do indeed seem cognizant of what has transpired. They do indeed appear remorseful. They have, on more than one occasion, convinced me as an onlooker that they'd mended their ways and striven to become more accepting of others' diversity, even and especially within the left in particular... and on more than one occasion disappointed me by reverting to form whenever they thought no one would notice or care. Do forgive me if I find it difficult to believe that they've really changed.

Mentioning any one of these incidents in particular would have been enough to win a FOR vote from me, and that's coming from someone who - at the time that it happened, anyway - took great pride in the raid on CAPS. That is to say, the bar the proposal needed to clear was buried deep below the ground; the author apparently desired instead to pay a visit to the Earth's core on their way to ratify it.

Just the final act alone would have my vigorous support if it's named in the resolution - genocide denial is a serious issue - but nah, this proposal is so shit I decided to vote Against in the end and retracted what I said earlier.
