[PASSED] Commend The Templar High Council

Postby Praeceps » Sat Nov 21, 2020 2:48 pm

Please find below a draft of my commendation proposal for The Templar High Council. They're a nation who has focused on P2TM RPing—an area of NS I believe has yet to be recognized by the SC. Given that P2TM is about fantasy roleplaying, I had to take some creative measures to ensure R4 compliance. Essentially, I am framing their RPing as stories being done by their authors and that the authors in their nations are so good at writing that they should be commended. Templar was recommended to me by a couple of mentors, has previously won awards within the community, and has done an extensive amount of RPing.

Feedback would be appreciated.
Praeceps wrote:The Security Council,

Realizing that throughout the universe there are nations which specifically focus on contributing significantly to building the international literary collective,

Believing that epistolaries contribute significantly to the enjoyment of an innumerable number of beings, creates more activity in the multiverse, and that significant, consistent contributions of an appropriately high quality to this area should be recognized by the Security Council,

Acknowledging that The Templar High Council is a nation which has focused on developing the international literary collective, particularly in the genre of fantasy,

Appreciating The Templar High Council’s efforts in protecting The Council of the Multiverse by quickly organizing a refounding of the region when the previous founder was unwilling to protect the group, then subsequently as its founder, ultimately ensuring that the collaborative literary group can further the international art of storytelling,

Lauding that this Council of the Multiverse has, under the direction of The Templar High Council:
  1. Helped international authors improve in their authorship of fictional realms that they wish to build by providing pre-publication feedback,
  2. Helped in the publicization of collaborative fictional universes that authors have an opportunity to contribute to,
  3. Compiled vast resources for authors from all nations that may be used to develop their settings,

Approving of The Templar High Council’s authors who have started the groundwork for expansive and widely-known anthologies, including:
  1. A world of Martial Magic, focusing on the dojo of Ray Williams as he attempts to train children in the art of chi,
  2. The story of Thalia West’s studies at the Mana Academy,
  3. The aftermath of the fall of a region full of pocket-sized monsters and how a valiant rebellion rises to oppose them,

Admiring The Templar High Council’s authors, who took a leading role in supporting the authors who established the beginning of universal collaborative stories such as:
  1. The resulting effects of when victims of a massive explosion unexpectedly survived and received superpowers,
  2. The progress on a journey of thousands of players of a game who got sucked into and trapped in the online game world,
  3. The heroic exploits of teams of hunters and huntresses who fought to protect humanity from a grim demise at the hands of monsters,
  4. A world where demons are fighting in a war of the gods to determine the future of humanity,
  5. The adventures of a group of heroes who fought against the darkspawn which threatened to inflict blight across the world and members of a mercenary band seeking fame and fortune,
  6. A mercenary school dedicated to the art of warfare in all aspects and in training up the next generation of soldiers and generals,

Appreciating the stories which have been written in The Templar High Council in collaboration with authors from other nations including but most certainly not limited to:
  1. Arcturus Reticio’s adventures as a loyal soldier while hiding a secret affinity for magic,
  2. Maiso Shitai’s studies in becoming a grim reaper and ferrying dead souls to the afterlife,
  3. Zoe Foster a vector and inertia manipulator who is in training to become a professional hero,
  4. The heroics of various super-powered members of the Justice Queens in their fight against evil,

Concluding that The Templar High Council’s authors are incredibly skilled and have significantly contributed to the fictional writing sphere through their immense literary prowess,

Hereby commends The Templar High Council.

As a note, I have submitted this for a legality ruling, after feedback and revisions I will properly submit and campaign for it.

Minor quibble, but the first clause has the subpoints not-capitalized and the rest do have the subpoints capitalized. I'm certainly not one to be a grammarian, but I would fix that one way or the other.
Then save me, or the passed day will shine…

Thanks. I have made all of the sub-clauses capitalized by changing the first list.

It's a little hard to read the code block, so here's the text in the more conventional format:

I love it. I can't speak to the accuracy of the details, but this is shaping up to be a great commendation.

This is a great draft, and I'm glad more and more areas of NS are being recognized in the SC. RP proposals are always the most fun to read, and this one is no exception. I might have a small comments later, but it looks quite good to me.

Edit: Also, you really shouldn't put the commendation text in a code block, it makes it much harder to read it

I like this, it’s an interesting departure from the normal run of C&Cs. Full disclosure - Praetor asked me to have a look at an earlier version of the draft so this is not a surprise to me. Fully support this branching out of the SC into a new part of the NS universe.

Prae knows I support this, and I've already given extensive feedback.

Upon looking at this again, it does strike me as somewhat list-y, but it probably is the perfect type of proposal for that. Just something for you to keep in mind.

The "Appreciating" clause has been amended to include that Templar organized a refounding of the region when the previous founder was upset and wanting to quit.

Thanks for your support Star, Goober, and Morover!

It was little to confusing to me, but I think a lot of that is just simply because I'm not familiar with the person being commended.

Is there anyways I could a summary without all the WA Procedural frills? Between those and addeding RP specific terms O think I know what we're discussing but I also just want to make sure.

I wouldn't have been opposed to removing them had your concerns been raised earlier. I do appreciate your vote For however. :)

Sure, Temp is a P2TM RPer, P2TM is focused more on fantasy/science-fiction/alternate history. Temp in particular mainly does (I didn't see all of their RPs since they have a ton) character RP. It would be hard to fit this into R4 so the alternative I decided on was framing it through a literary framework—I don't believe there is a resolution on P2TM that has been written before. Temp was recommended by a couple of RP Mentors to me and has previously won community awards for his work. He refounded his region (which focuses on P2TM RPing) when the previous founder was going to leave, in his time, he established resources to help those who want to do P2TM RPing. Lastly, he has been a prolific OP (someone who sets up the story for people to RP in, make sure it goes smoothly, helps the story along, etc.) and Co-OP as well as participant in RPing as well. If you have any more questions or require clarification, feel free to let me know.

Is there a record for largest vote percentage margin voting to pass (not defeat) a resolution? If so, what is it and is this resolution on track to surpass that?

If this Commendation passes, there will be 334 Security Council resolutions. Not only is this proposal (currently trending at 90.4%) highly unlikely to break the record of 94.6% support that Kuriko set with SC#261 "Repeal "Liberate The Communal Confederacy,"" but it would only be the 24th-most popular SC resolution of all time if voting ended right now, thus placing it among the top 7% most popular resolutions:
MOST POPULAR SC RESOLUTIONS OF ALL TIME:
  1. Repeal "Liberate The Communal Confederacy" (94.6%; September 2018)
