[DEFEATED] Repeal SC#188 "Condemn Vandoosa"

Postby Tinhampton » Tue May 26, 2020 5:55 pm

This resolution was at vote between the 19th and 23rd of June, 2020.
It was defeated by a margin of 11,918 votes (about 75%) to 4,006 (about 25%).

This proposal has been filed to the Security Council Repeals Board.
NOTE: on 15th June 2020, this proposal attained the 75 necessary approvals twice in the space of an evening (BST).

Character count: 3,392
Word count: 535
The target resolution is inaccurate, poorly written (by Tir-Na-Nog-Ta's admission), and was published at a time when contact tracing meant something other than downloading an app on your smartphone. It should be n00ked. This draft was written independently of any other proposals that may have the same name.

In compliance with the SC Compendium, I seek a Modly Ruling on the legality of the first two clauses of this proposal. whatever

Repeal "Condemn Vandoosa"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.
Category: Repeal
Resolution: SC#188
Proposed by: Tinhampton

Security Council Resolution #188 “Condemn Vandoosa” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

THE SECURITY COUNCIL:

DISPUTING SC#188's lamentation that "the high efficiency of Cimmeria... could have been avoided without the presence of Vandoosa," when such advances were in fact largely the result of an illegal [resolution=SC#227]imported[/resolution] superweapon called "Predator" that was predominantly deployed by self-proclaimed "Witch-Queen of Cimmeria" Cora II;

RECOGNISING that Vandoosa (along with the regions of Cimmeria and DEN) had previously used Predator while serving in DEN, although on a much smaller scale compared to many other nations; as a result, the governments of all three entities were permanently disbanded by force just 100 days after the passage of the target resolution, while the administration of Cora II was convicted of war crimes so heinous that its members are now permanently barred from taking public office in any other country;

ADAMANT that the restoration of Vandoosa's government under the much more diligent banner of Vando0sa, and likewise the relocation of Glorious Nations of Iwaku to [region=The Glorious Nations of Iwaku], does not appear to have had a great impact on recruitment and activity levels for the latter region;

AWARE that Vando0sa, the founder of The Glorious Nations of Iwaku, is not currently sullied with a Condemnation, and resultantly struggling to see how would-be immigrants into said region could possibly be deterred by the continued application of SC#188;

DISMAYED at the target resolution's failure to explain why many of the raids carried out by Vandoosa that it recalls (such as the annihilation of Territory of Finland, in which Glorious Nations of Iwaku was a minor participant) are at all significant or noteworthy beyond being carried out by a raider; in particular, citing the relatively small number of 522 tag raids over three months that Vandoosa took part in with the Cimmerian Merc Unit;

NOTING that the author of SC#188, during a debate on Wallenburg's failed attempt to repeal it in March 2016, asserted that it was "poorly written;" and citing some of its innumerable mistakes as:
  • arguing that Vandoosa had ousted "the rightful rulers of in well over five hundred regions" (which is not only a SPaG error but also a factual misstatement: Vandoosa had only actually displaced around 350 WA Delegates with Cimmeria at the time) and decrying their mistreatment of "native[s] of invaded regions region;"
  • misspelling "record" as "ecord," before mysteriously claiming that Vandoosa had worked to "reinstate the organisation" of The Black Riders under the aegis of Black Riders (in fact, it was Cora II that essentially rebranded Cimmeria as Black Riders in early December 2015, contradicting Vandoosa's statement mere weeks earlier that "TBR is DEN now!");
  • claiming that residents of Vandoosa's native region were horrified by "their founders evildoings;"
  • wrongly referring to the region of Alternative History World as "Alternative World History;" and
  • inserting at least eleven unnecessary commas (and a phantom linebreak in the second clause) ad hoc; and

[resolution=SC#161]REAFFIRMING[/resolution] its belief that any resolution which exaggerates the achievements of its nominee as grossly as SC#188 does - as even the government of Vando0sa itself has publicly admitted - should be nullified:

HEREBY REPEALS SC#188 "Condemn Vandoosa."

It's a widely held belief that Vandy deserves this condemnation still, which is why other attempts are never made.

Are you going to write a replacement?

Either way, I think this repeal is a good idea.

Firstly, where do people "believe that Vandy deserves" SC#188? Secondly, I very clearly make one reference to an attempted repeal of SC#188 in my proposal; there is another, more detailed draft by Tim and I will gleefully abandon my proposal if he decides that he wants to have a serious crack at it.
McMasterdonia wrote:Are you going to write a replacement?

Not presently. Cimmeria's Gameplay thread identifies Vandoosa as a Cimmerian Blood Drinker with "29 active updates+, 522+ team hits, 366+ Cimmerian points (1 O[verthrown] WAD), 18 Team Tags, 6+ reinforcements, 16+ WA-kills, 2 inv." - in the space of some three months. There are plenty of Black Hawks, such as Corporal Refuge Isle and Lieutenant Aquilanion, who hit about 500 regions every couple of months; where are their shiny things? RiderSyl has taken part in at least 2,500 tags (a thousand in her first two months) - maybe more, EPSA wouldn't allow her to list their raids - and did all of that before joining TGW for a bit; where's her shiny thing?

draft updated accordingly. thank you for the inadvertent reminder ;p

Eh, it seems that most who were against it then are CTE now. Vandoosa has done a lot in the raiding world though, and I mean a lot. A lot more than you may think. It would be good for him to have a replacement, but I also don't think we should have a repeal so focused on spelling errors and extra commas? Like, really? Lol

awwwwww, thanks :blush: I haven't forgotten about this draft and intend to submit it in The Future, lol

RE "we should[n't] have a repeal so focused on spelling errors," regardless of whether Vandy deserves a Condemnation, I remain adamant that he doesn't deserve this Condemnation. Why? You'll have to read my draft to find out :P

okay, real talk, going after Vandoosa's badge is a really shitty thing to do. Vandy is such a sweetie. Some of you are letting your raider hate get the better of you, and normally I'd be all "meh" about that, but not when Vandy is in the line of fire.

obviously against, and will be campaigning against if this gets anywhere near a vote.

Agreed. Tin really needs to find something better to do with all of this free time she obviously must have. This screams of a repeal, just for the sake of a repeal. Pretty typical Tinhampton philosophy.
Sarcasm dispensed moderately.

"522 tag raids over three months that Vandoosa took part in"

More like over 10,000 or maybe even more.. but tag raids don't count anyways. It's the ones who triggered that need condemnation not us lower ranked raiders who set the fires and burned the villages.. they made us do it! I might have really enjoyed doing it but still it was orders and stuff..

Also there is no proof in the former condemnation that I was involved in Territory of Finland.. but also left out that I might have had Iwaku raid Syria.. We tried our best on that one.. raided so hard!

At least the point record at that time of 80 delegate elections will never be beaten due to changes in gameplay rules. Noone will ever be delegate of 80 regions simultaneously without cheating.. heck maybe I should be commended for that!

Oh yea I'm delegate of Yggdrasil now.. one of 10000 Islands allies! Maybe XKI can un-ban me now..

Just add a bunch of technicalities and twisting of words and:

I've done nothing noteworthy enough for a condemnation so full support!

Thanks, Vandy - I was only counting Cimmeria's raids as Tir-Na-Nog-Ta did =P

Slight adaptations made accordingly. If nobody has any more substantiative comments to make, I plan to submit this before the week's out.

Given the amount you do - even outside raiding - I don't think a commendation for you would be at all outside the realm of possibility...

Really, you should be shooting for being the first with both a commend and condemn, Vandy :p
