I'm not a Republican nor am I a Trump supporter, but the WA has always struck me as very left-wing, so this is not surprising.

So if the WA somehow manages to commend CCD, does that make them left-wing? Then again, some leftists may see the WA as right-wing depending on what's passed.

I guess from our respective analogies, we can conclude that the WA collectively is a raging schizophrenic; massively right- and left-wing at the same time?
Or, alternatively, it tends largely centrist (Sozialliberal for any fellow Continentals) except for a few areas where radical policies have been pushed through.
It's a toss-up!

As a leftist, the WA is unmistakably left-of-center. This is a good thing, and ought to be capitalized on to the fullest possible extent.

I was going for an exaggeration for effect, but a smidgen of self-insight allows me to recognise that I am perhaps a bit beyond the usual Overton Window on this, so replace "the Left WingTM" with "this particular Left WingTM". If I should make a more serious point, I would argue that the perceived leftism of the WA mostly stems from leftists and liberals generally agreeing on social, scientific and educational issues, whereas the stuff that really matters, the distribution of and power over material resources and its production, the WA guarantees a minimum living condition but does not challenge the capitalist mode of production -- in fact several WA resolutions uphold it -- which is hardly an example of "very left-wing" and even called into question by some definitions of "left-of-centre" (Anyone with a predominantly materialistic view of politics, for instance).

Do note, however, that we have gone well outside the bounds of any discussion of the proposal or its failure at this point.

I am disappointed that this did not pass, but I would be quite surprised if it ever did. The superdelegates (among others) do not tolerate wrongthink.

However, we did get a condemnation of a resolution that protested the third WA resolution focused on enshrining abortion as a fundamental right-- a resolution that CD signed onto. I think that's an acceptable consolation prize. I am thrilled that Heavens Reach thought that "Charter of International Alliance for the Preborn" was worth responding to and condemning. Go check it out!
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
James 1:26-27, Matthew 7:21-23

I wouldn't be so thrilled about only having earned the condemnation of a lightweight like Heavens Reach ; )

If by "wrongthink" you mean CD's noncompliance, then yes, why would we not only tolerate it but reward it with a commend?

To be honest, I think if they did not engage in noncompliance, the opposition would have instead cited something else. I doubt that is what stood between CD and a commendation.

A pity this didn't pass.

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

I beg to differ. Their noncompliance was one of the major factors in it. Of course the only real way to test your theory is if CD comes forth cap in hand and reneges on the noncompliance and apologises profusely, and afterwards another attempt made at a commend. But I very much doubt that the former will happen.

Considering how brutally this was defeated, I'm sure that there were many reasons this didn't pass.
