[DEFEATED] Condemn Deruuu

The Security Council resolution "Condemn Deruuu" was defeated 21,292 votes to 2,176 - 90.7% to 9.3%

Apologies to those whose various drafts I did not read before sidestepping said process and submitting this.

The World Assembly,

ASSERTING that, despite what popularly-reported statistics may claim, Deruuu has a crippling traffic problem,

CONCEDING that this traffic problem would be none of the World Assembly’s concern, were it contained within the borders of Deruuu,

NOTING, however, that Deruuu’s abysmal traffic nightmare has, despite international efforts to contain it, spilled well beyond the confines of this nation’s territory through apparent negligence of some inconceivable scale,

BEWILDERED by the origins of such an immense explosion of traffic originating from a small nation that was only hastily cobbled together by violent segregationists not even one month ago,

BEMOANING the fact that the mayhem resulting from this nation’s irresponsible explosion of emigration directly caused the brief shutdown of all global infrastructure,

BELIEVING that the economic damage caused to some nations by this brief but absolute shutdown may take years to undo, and that this collapse of global infrastructure has certainly resulted in an unnecessary loss of life due to the temporary failure of numerous healthcare facilities,

HURRIEDLY ATTEMPTING to accommodate enormous droves of confused refugees emanating from this awkward and unprepared nation,

HEREBY CONDEMNS Deruuu.

"As we all know, the nation of Deruuu, which was recently featured on a popular YouTube channel, caused a sudden explosion of traffic which temporarily crashed all global infrastructure yesterday. [OOC: too many people joined at once. The Nationstates website crashed.] I need not go into extensive detail regarding the stress and terrible hardship that this has caused us all. As the World Assembly, it is obvious that we must formulate a swift response to this intensely destructive and negligent action. I have written a proposal to Condemn Deruuu, to which I hope you will give your support, so that we may show this bizarrely irresponsible and destructive influence that the World Assembly does not stand idly by while nations like Deruuu go about, breaking things willy-nilly with nary a care in the world."

I find it curious that the usual crowd of SC fools who proclaim "BADGE HUNT" whenever any poor proposal gets drafted are silent on this rush of proposals to Condemn Deruuu.

Of course for the OP specifically, it's less the case, but I can't help feeling that the SEVEN (yes, seven) proposals to condemn Deruuu on the front page of the SC forum are by far the worst example of "badge hunting" I've ever seen outside a CCD proposal.

Strongly Opposed. There is no reason to do this. For one, Reppy has said the lag was less the fault of the flood and more the fault of a server glitch:

For two - the current trend of diluting genuine proposals with garbage and jokes is stopping genuinely good candidates from receiving the accolades they deserve.
For three - everyone knows what happened and there's no reason to promote Drew further. As has been suggested in other threads, YouTubers feed off each other, so there's a significant likelihood that more will come. Will you rush to condemn every half-brained content creator who brings a flood of new nations onboard? Will you rush to condemn the next redditor who mentions NationStates in a post?
For four - do you genuinely believe that this topic (and by extension, the nation) is worth "immortalising" with a SC resolution? What makes you think this resolution passes the test of time - in two months, when all these new nations have CTE'd, this is just going to give someone a really easy target to Repeal.

EDIT: Checked queue, and there's another Condemn Deruuu in there... It's illegal, but still - my count is 8 proposals to condemn him.

Condemning Deruuu won't help the newbies... giving them advice will. This resolution does exactly nothing to combat the problem you just described.

How dare you. I have labored tirelessly to combat this problem in my home region of TEP - one of the regions most direly affected by this crisis. You should see the toll it has taken on our poor most Handsome delegate. He is beside himself. He may have received around 200 endorsements due to all this, but at what cost?

Condmenings and Commendings should be for people who put in the time and effort into this game, not just someone who has a large social media following and can get the masses to blindly join. We just gonna reward every youtuber who get some people to join with a 5 min video? 5 minuets of effort gets you a badge while others have put decades into this game.
