The Right was right about what would eventually happen and is happening in front of us. I can't believe it, but they were right. It's such a shame as the original intentions were so noble.

the original intentions are still here, in the form of me, a leftist whose stuck to their guns and ended up radical because the entire movement made ideals like mine the outlier instead of being part of the general mix

I suppose that is true, but I've got the hell away from the Left. Free Speech is probably #1 in my book, even above social support. The left, as it stands now, has no interest whatsoever in the preservation of free speech, but they'll pay it lip service, if you're one to unconditionally and always say things they like.

They have, "Libertarian Socialist," but that really seems like too much of a contradiction. I've drifted a little bit less to the left on Economics anyway. I'm definitely still left of center. If anything, I'm a Libertarian who just really tries to advocate hard for charity. The far left (or what was far left) economical positions are, if I'm going to be extremely charitable, inadvisable.

If they want to do anything with the Minimum Wage, it should be to set an amount and index it to inflation thereafter, which is what they should have done in the first place. A deflationary year results in no change.

Of course, if you're the Democrats in the U.S.A., you need MW (actual spending value) to become worth less and less over the period of several years...otherwise you lose a talking point. So, inflation index isn't likely to happen.

Anyway, I'm extremely LEFT socially, but not to the point of eliminating Free Speech and, "Canceling," those with beliefs contrary to mine. They've pushed me out. I'll never vote for a Democrat for a Federal Office again as long as I live...and I used to be a registered Socialist!

I accept biological (gender) who then became (gender) and that's all fine with me. Largely because it's none of my business. But, if you can do that and everyone should be made to recognize the person as the desired gender...but someone can't make what used to be nothing more than an, "Inappropriate joke," about something? Nah. That's not going to fly with me. It's not equal and it's not free.

My personal political beliefs were directly relevant to the SC proposal for which this thread was created.

EDIT: Rereading, I did get into beliefs not directly related to free speech and apologize.

apologies. it only felt right to respond to prompt; especially considering that this particular proposal seems to driven by what people believe OOC and operating on the intention of barring from participation in NS on that basis.

I wasn't really referring to your post, more the stuff in Barometria's that veered off into US politics.
