[PASSED] Condemn Gatesville Inc

Interestingly, “Condemn Gatesville” was the first resolution voted on by the security council.

The Security Council,

Believing that posthumous condemnations ought not to be invalidated by the Security Council for its nominee’s demise, as condemnations serve to recognize and provide an example of unethical actions as well as create a moral basis behind liberations and future condemnations,

Recognizing Gatesville Inc to be the remnants of Gatesville, a militaristic organization zealously devoted to the creation of chaos and misery,

Scolding Gatesville Inc for its perpetration of a month-long coup d’etat of Osiris in 2013, in which Osiris’ rogue delegate, the Dourian Embassy, as a desperate attempt to keep its position and prevent the legitimate delegate from taking power, chose to align itself with Gatesville Inc, who preceded to eject prominent natives, suppress the Regional Message Board which had been dominated by members of the Osiran community and lawful government, replace the distressed region’s flag - a prominent symbol of Osiran culture - with Gateville’s flag, and eventually indirectly destroy the Kemetic Republic of Osiris,

Admonishing Gatesville, the predecessor to Gatesville Inc made up of many of them same members, organizational structure, and leadership as Gatesville Inc, for its roles in promoting the instability of numerous prominent, efficient, and developed regions, such as:
  1. The 2008 rogue delegacy in The North Pacific by its contemporary delegate Lewis and Clark (Westwind), in which Gatesville supported Westwind’s choice to dissolve the constitution, change the communication method used in the North Pacific, disband the North Pacific Army, and establish the “Crimson Order” as the new government. Gatesville threatened to “terminate the interests” of the legitimate North Pacific community, supported the rogue delegate with over 30 endorsements, and even supported attempted invasions of the Rejected Realms and Lazarus (twice) to distract soldiers from fighting for the North Pacific’s freedom,
  2. Threatening the sovereignty of the North Pacific a year before the Lewis and Clark coup in supporting an Emperor Matthius rogue delegacy, in which a group of un-endorsement campaigners depleted the legitimate delegate Great Bright Mum’s endorsements and endorsed vice-delegate Emperor Matthius, illegally forcing it into the delegacy. Emperor Matthius then used this event as a platform to eject its endorsers into the Rejected Realms, move there itself, and nearly overthrow the Rejected Realms’ delegacy,
  3. Causing great fear and consternation in the previously content community of the East Pacific, in which Gatesville provided significant military assistance to the Empire that terrorized the East Pacific for a long and arduous 4 months, ejecting natives and demeaning them through propaganda,
  4. A third major act of aggression against the North Pacific; when Gatesville supported the establishment of the North Pacific Directorate, a coup in which Pierconium seized the nation of Pixiedance, the North Pacific’s delegate, suspended the constitution, and instituted martial law, before the Pixiedance retook control over its nation. When Pixiedance did the exact same thing as Pierconium had previously, Pierconium replaced the North Pacific’s government with a corrupt dictatorship known as the North Pacific Directorate, and Gatesville used its military might to support such,

Disgusted by Gatesville’s meddling hands which attempted to influence the governments of foreign regions via a vast intelligence network which reported confidential information to Gatesville and acted only in Gatesville’s interest, rather than the targeted region’s,

Acknowledging one of the notable spies under Gatesville: Lots of Ants, which, cunningly and with masterful deception, proved to be a useful new nation in the West Pacific, taking on important roles in the region before eventually becoming delegate, at which point the nation mysteriously dropped out of activity. This event, which intentionally and successfully destabilized the West Pacific, was found to have been orchestrated by Darkesia, a prominent member of Gatesville intelligence, but it is entirely unknown as to whether or not Darkesia always controlled Lots of Ants,

Aware of the hundreds of invasions perpetrated by Gatesville forces, including massive raids of Palestine and Rajahland involving hundreds of soldiers,

Noting that Gatesville acted zealously against the World Assembly, and used its political influence to combat it,

Horrified by Gatesville’s long and appalling history of subverting and bullying prominent and happy regions into submission via dastardly intelligent covert operations and its massive terrorist army, just to satisfy its childish dislike for this Security Council and its own self-interests,

Hereby condemns Gatesville Inc.

Couple of points on the content:

  • The mention of RMB posts in Item 1 is illegal.
  • Lots of Ants was a properly elected Delegate of TWP - what we didn’t know was that at some stage Darkesia took over - they were the Gatesville operative. See Condemn Darkesia for more details.

It’s a well written proposal (though I think LoA/Dark deserve a bit more than a footnote), but I am not convinced that we should be condemning Gateville Inc. for all the stuff a now non-existent region did.

Would “suppress the Regional Message Board” be fine?

I’ll make sure to add more about LoA in the next draft.

Gatesville currently exists, but whoever owns it is unknown. Gatesville Inc was the successor region with many of the same prominent members, and Gatesville Inc was the region that couped Osiris. Would the original Gatesville be a better nominee, as they are the cause of Gatesville Inc and the other events in the proposal?

I know that, in the case of the Joint Systems Alliance, the commendation was repealed when Mall took it over, but that was emotional, supported by a native, and I believe Mall would have been branding the region like the does to it now. The current Gatesville doesn’t meet that standard. It just looks like a sleepy old retired region, so I think it’s a very viable nominee.

Edit: See what happens when I actually think: I’ve convinced myself that Gatesville is a better nominee than Gatesville Inc. If anyone wants to debate about that now, please do.

I believe so - it’s the reference to posts that’s illegal.

And you’ve done the opposite to me mainly because of the Osiris coup being done by Gatesville Inc. I think you need to separate that one out from the others and assign it to G. Inc.

Draft 2. Only BBD's changes ofc.

I've added in the nation tags because the lack of interest suggests I may be able to just submit it soon without much more drafting.

For what it's worth, I don't agree with condemning Gatesville rather than Gatesville Inc. Gatesville Inc is the successor region to Gatesville; it's where the community went, however briefly it may have been active, and it's where Gatesville's last big hurrah, the 2013 Osiris coup, took place.

No condemnation of Gatesville would be complete without inclusion of the 2013 Osiris coup, but that happened under Gatesville Inc, not Gatesville. So if you condemn only Gatesville, you'd really need to omit the Osiris coup, which seems wrong. I think given Gatesville Inc is the successor region, and some hostile party is currently holding Gatesville as an empty region devoid of the original community, it's only appropriate to condemn Gatesville Inc for the full range of things the Gatesville community did. I think that's the only way a full and complete condemnation makes sense.

Also, this is long overdue, and I'm supportive of it in principle pending whatever changes people suggest, etc.

Thanks Cormac. I've decided to stick with GV Inc.

If no one else has advice or suggestions, I’ll try to submit this on Monday, Jan 27th, which should be a few days into the voting of “Condemn Norrlands”.

This will probably pass because it's well-written but it sure does make me throw up a little bit. Gatesville has been a great big enormous load of nothing for as long as I've ever known them and it sickens me to see them formally recognized for that. The only thing they were ever good at was telling everybody how good they were at everything.

There was a period of time - three years to be exact - where GV was indeed one of the most powerful regions in the game. They hosted a region-wide conference in 2007-2008 that more or less demonstrated how connected they were and how GCR's in particular were very concerned about how much influence they had. I could be wrong (I probably am), but I think GV in some way birthed The Empire.

They do have one thing in common with you though, they couped a sinker. Thing is they didn't get tossed to the wolves for it.

So whats the point of this? Both regions seem to be shitty at causing harm and it seems more like a condemnation of Gatesville rather than Gatesville inc

1) If you could explain where you're getting that both regions were "shitty at causing harm", that would help- assuming you're trying to make a point.
2) Read the thread to find out why it's GV Inc instead of GV. Hell, you could read the proposal.

I did read it but you need to be clear. The second to last part mentions Gatesville only to be followed by the final statement condemning Gatesville Inc. I dont necessarily disagree with you I just feel that common voters are gonna be confused.

Also the reasoning is a mess. Even if Gatesville Inc is the contuation, they havent dont stuff in their current state therefore they shouldn't be condemned. Its like blaming a kid for their parents actions.

Why don't you tell that to The North Pacific, which Durk couped and damn near emptied out? Or how about Osiris when Douria handed over control of his nation to Durk and he would have purged it as well?

I think you need to consider it more like “I robbed a liquor store. I then clone myself (bear beer with me), and rob another liquor store. I’m basically the same person (assume same conscience), so I should probably be charged with both crimes”. Rather than condemning the child for their parents actions, the child is an independent entity not run by the same thing and governed the same way and sharing the same name, etc. Another example would be commending the actions of the Bruce Wayne-run Wayne Interprises for the actions taken when Thomas Wayne was in charge- it’s still the same company.

Definitely support this.

There's one part that rubs me the wrong way, though, so I'll mention it here:
Bormiar wrote:Believing that posthumous condemnations ought not to be invalidated by the Security Council for its nominee’s demise

I understand making preemptive statements against criticisms you anticipate being brought up in the draft thread, but I feel like those statements should be made in the thread, not tacked onto the front of the proposal itself.

I don't generally disagree with the proposal, however, a small thing that irked me was the fact that (and correct me if I'm wrong) there's a typo in the resolution, namely:

...replace the distressed region’s flag - a prominent symbol of Osiran culture - with Gateville’s flag

Good point. I left it in because I thought it was going to be brought up in drafting and I could think about it then, but it wasn’t so I figured it was fine.

 that’s embarrassing. I hope it gets the message across adequately, though.

Condemning an inactive and obscure Region for activities which may have occurred 12 years ago serves no purpose in the present other than to booster the ego of the self-righteous.

As such, Mikeswill voted against the World Assembly Resolution "Condemn Gatesville Inc".

You also make reference to "Great Bright Mum" as the victim of the Emperor Matthuis coup. That also hasn't stopped me from voting in favour :P
