I must say, we don't need all the weapons in the world to defend ourselves from foreign attacks...

As long as there is peace in the world, these are unecessary

Lovik quietly chuckled behind her desk at the remark.

"Peace through force, ambassador, peace through force. It would've been a happy fun time if that statement of yours was possible, but we sure as hell ain't gonna try it out to see if it works, considerin' how our entire galaxy is filled with nations that need a buncha guns pointed at 'em in order to bugger off, and sometimes, those guns need to be 'bout as gruesome as possible. For the sake of our national security, there ain't a chance I'd vote for something like this proposal."

I must say this alone is what worries me. We can sit here and philosophise about how pleasant a world free of war and strife would be, and how useless weapons would become, but that future is not feasible. What can hold back the waves of tyranny or the strikes of evil more than weaponry? Tecrossh is small and weak. We depend on our weaponry to keep us safe from those who seek to do us harm.

I understand this proposal is to only ban inhumane weaponry, but its writing is loose and its articles flexible. Who is to say if an automatic rifle is humane or no? Who is to judge which weapons can be used and which cannot? If gas or bombs will protect Tecrossh than they will be used. They should be used. Agressors should be punished and detered, and sometimes bullets will not do.

"With a stunning 25-point loss, I am forced to wonder if this resolution would ever have a chance at passing even if the unclear and ambiguous language was resolved."

Can someone explain what a humane weapon is anyway? A weapon designed to be humane is pretty funny to me.

A gun that shoots a bullet which gently tickles you until you surrender or 10 minutes go by, at which point it kills you instantly and with no pain.
