Well that kind of explains the lack of drafting thread etc. I guess...

Well, we've been told that the Federation is cleaning up its act - I still have my doubts about that, but I really hope I'm proved wrong. Apart from anything else, and in spite of many, many protestations to the contrary, this was never about targeting liberations at right wing regions - so here's hoping that the community is more successful than it has been in the past in its cleanup efforts and puts measures in place to ensure that what we saw on the discord doesn't happen again.

I shake my head at your constant use of asterisks. Honestly I kind of wish there was more evidence available for this whole thing, I want proof that the racism happened, and if so I want proof that FCN is improving.

Kuriko wrote:Its not just graffiti, its the destruction of communities that grew up over months and sometimes even years. You should get your facts straight before coming into the SC, which is highly anti-raider when it comes to raid occupations. Also, raiding and defending are not comparable to what you're comparing them to so you should stop. Raiders raid because they either want to have fun or because they like being internet bad guys, defenders defend because they either want to have fun or because they morraly think its wrong to raid and destroy communities. There's no ideology involved unless its left vs right, or similar things like a made up NS ideology against another NS ideology.

Yes, obviously raiding and defending are not as bad as racism and homophobia. I'm not saying that raiding is evil and bad, or that defenders are racist. I'm arguing that if combatting raiding is worth the efforts of the Security Council, homophobia and racism are too. Yes, obviously we should liberate raided regions. I was attempting to point out that regions under the control of terrible people shouldn't be considered any more sacrosanct than regions under the control of raiders, and that the Security Council shouldn't hesitate to liberate them where possible.

Also, I would argue that raiding, defending, independents, whatever the fuck the eternal knights were, etc. are all ideologies. They're not IRL ideologies, sure, but they're ideologies.

Despite Our being a nation in line with Socialist principles, We vote AGAINST the liberation of this region on the grounds that We believe in the right of Fascist regions to exist in the interest of free-speech.

I'm guessing you never heard of Predator. Or the United Nations cease and desist letter. Or Jolt. Or NationStates 2. Or... I can keep going. This doesn't even make the top ten.

Yeah, thankfully I've read about the UN letter. While I personally found it amusing, it's pretty cool that an online political game made by an author got the attention of such a huge organization. "in the five years the game has been running, they’ve implemented privacy safeguards, promoted religious tolerance, passed a universal bill of rights, and outlawed child labor, amongst 240 other resolutions.

Clearly this wasn’t anything the real UN wanted to be associated with"

Good, it was a pretty stupid revenge proposal.

For the very least, it did there things- the first, of course, exposing a WA double, the second, the FCN acknowledgement of the SC's watchful eye, the third and last is pointing out the disconnect between GA regulars and casual WA nations.

Some players joked at the time that the RL-UN was motivated by envy, because the NS-UN could actually pass legally-binding international legislation on such matters...
