OOC: It often means that they know their proposal would get shot down, and just want to ram it through.
Because sometimes even national leaders just want to hang out

I don't think that this region has really accomplished enough to be commended, and I really don't want dictatorial governance to spread. Because of this I will vote against this resolution (assuming it even comes to the floor for a vote).

I don't think the author cares if it passes or not, only that it gets to be voted on. I imagine this is a publicity stunt, nothing more. It is a region that spent money on 30000 TG stamps to pump its numbers by about 200% in a couple of months. Pretty sure they just want more recruits.

They said on the RMB somewhere that 300 nations in the region means they qualify for "deserving a Commendation". They have people who seem to genuinely believe they deserve to be recognized by the SC.

That nation is a) an idiot and b) no longer a member of the Confederation. Whatever he may or may not have said is no longer relevant, for he no longer represents our region.

This is just the latest example of trolling from similarly-minded nations that I've seen recently.
They're just trying to get a rise out you.
I firmly believe the best course of action is to mostly ignore such proposals. You give them too much credence by being drawn into arguments. My advice would be to voice your opposition, simply, and then move on. Most of these will die away on their own without the flames being fed by argument.
Cheers

Oh, you finally figured the first part out. I'd prefer it didn't crash and burn.Cosmopolitan borovan wrote:This is going to be at vote
I would hope so, yes.Caracasus wrote:I don't think the author cares if it passes or not, only that it gets to be voted on. I imagine this is a publicity stunt, nothing more. Not true, we've always intended for the resolution to pass. Look at the hostile response we've received in this thread - I'm not super keen on having these same people help draft the proposal.

Well put. Why engage with a community that won't support our proposals in the first place because they are obsessively prejudiced against what we stand for? What a beautiful community to be a part of.Caracasus wrote:

We'd like to comment on this toxic commentary on spending money on telegram stamps. First of all, what, you think the huge regions don't use telegram stamps? Mmm. Those nations all just got there somehow. *Woosh!* Nations appearing out of thin air! Extraordinary! Secondly, if you're going to quantify how much we've spent, you should get your numbers right. 30,000 is a cute estimate at best.
Quite frankly, if you aren't prepared to fund a Mr Max Barry's lunches, we bloody well are - and we see absolutely no logical comparison between our telegram stamps and criticism concerning this proposal.

You should probably post it to the forum now so that you can begin drafting it nice and early. That's bound to exponentially increase the chance of it passing.
