In less than 24 hours, the proposal has surpassed half of the delegate approvals needed to reach quorum. With around 48 hours to go, and at 67 approvals, the proposal now needs only 12 more delegates to approve of this legislation. Thank you, everyone, for your support! Hopefully this will make it to vote!

With a little less than 42 hours, we need four more votes to reach quorum!

Thank you guys! Hopefully, it will pass the vote, or at least not lose so terribly that I impulsively throw my laptop out of the window. :^)

"The Republic of Akila is intrigued by this proposal and, after some review, finds currently no compelling reason it should lack its support," Ambassador Twilight Sparkle said, the ink on her quill about to run dry as she wrote down the notes on the debate, "and is proud to say it will vote for a resolution to help solve such a potentially critical problem before it becomes a tragedy for so many."

"It is a great honor to have the support of so many distinguished World Assembly officials, such as yours," Ambassador Rollo said with a smile. "This calls for a celebration!" he continued, waving his chalice of wine into the air before drinking its contents.

Congratulations on making quorum and everything, but I urge you to withdraw and fix the many problems with this proposal before allowing it to go to vote.

It's about freshwater shortages but one of only two mandatory and non-committee clauses concerns dumping in the ocean. It's in a category described as improving the environment at the expense of industry yet the other mandatory clause is about public education. There's no clarity here.

Let's pick just one sentence - "Prohibits member nations or any businesses contained wherein from disposing hazardous waste into oceanic bodies, international waters, and the public drinking supply." You mean therein, not wherein. You should say disposing of hazardous waste. And what stops Pollution Inc from forming a not-for-profit subsidiary which, because it's not a business, can dump its parent company's waste wherever it likes? Can the military and other entities that are neither nations nor businesses also do as they please?

The rest of the resolution is equally riddled with grammatical and stylistic errors.

I support your intent, but this is simply not ready. I made a longer list of points prior to submission but sadly received no response.

OOC: Thank you, Uan. The clause's intent is to primarily target governmental and corporate entities, some of the greatest contributors of water pollution, from disposing of dangerous waste into oceanic bodies and international waters. However, the phrase, "member nation," should act as a blanket term for all of the organizations (including military and nonprofit groups) within the nation.

OOC: While I understand your concerns, this proposal has undergone months of drafting and review. Many active participants and delegations of the WA have helped in shaping this proposal, whether it be with grammar mistakes, clarity of its mandates, or modifying what the proposal does. And with the generous amount of help from seasoned WA member and author, Ara, and the God of Grammar, Kenmoria, I feel that this final draft is fit for submission. Thank you, however, for sharing your thoughts on this proposal.

I have the sense that the whole text up to Article 7 could have been deleted to little effect, but fluff aside I consider this a worthy endeavor. Unfortunately the Triumvirate has overruled me on the issue, so I must withhold Xanthalian approval and vote against on the grounds that the Federation considers this proposal to be an inefficient use of WA funds. Personally though I wish you good luck. Resolutions of this sort tend to pass without much trouble, so I doubt you need me anyway.

"We had fully approved this proposal years ag ... er... right now, and it has been quite beneficial for several yea... ah... that is I predict that it will be quite beneficial for several years to come. Sorry, got to go...", the Doctor said as he runs towards a blue "police box", opens the door and goes in. It suddenly makes some odd noises and disappears.

1)This resolution has very little actual effect.GA resolutions are supposed to be binding in their tone and proposal. This resolution mostly 'Encourages','urges', and 'recommends'.The tone is,for the most part, inappropriate.

2)The first 7 paragraphs are too wordy and can be more compact without having any real effect on the effectiveness of the resolution.

3)This is my biggest concern.
The resolution is misdirected. It targets industries and domestic entities to reduce water consumption while globally (real world),agriculture accounts for about 70% of water usage (wikipedia). So,do some research before you write. Also ,this resolution lacks focus on usage efficiency instead relying solely on regulatory measures which, again results from lack of sufficient thought and effort .

Thankyou

This isn't the real world :P

Well then, this game is supposed to loosely emulate the real world. Are you telling me that the largest consumer of water in real world doesn't even factor in the game world. Is the game a complete opposite of real world?
Indeed, I am a noob(sarcasm intended).

The reasons for agriculture being water intensive do not disappear in NationStates. And if you're really going to pull the 'this is not the real world' non-argument and non-response, then you should also admit that the entire Assembly is pointless: In NationStates, there might not be these water problems.

Michel just sat in his corner of the Assembly, reading the proposal that was being debated upon. He wondered why this is becoming a problem in other nations, as the United Kingdom had implemented a colossal sewerage treatment system that rendered the points that was stipulated upon in the proposal moot, at least in his eyes. As long as he was the King, he would not let his waters be polluted, as well as his lands. He stared at the whole assembly, and then at the proposal again. Why it had come to this, he wondered. He then threw back the file on his table, which landed perfectly on the organized mess on the left side, and then, scribbled something on a piece of paper. And then, with heavy thuds of his boots, he then walked out of the assembly, and then returned with a box. He then moved towards each of the tables of his fellow delegates, and then, reaching from the box each time, placed a piece of paper on their tables. It read:

The United Kingdom of Neo-Routhengard accepts wastewater from all WA delegates and converts it to freshwater free of charge. For details, consult Michel Nicole Demetrius, representative of the United Kingdom of Neo-Routhengard in the World Assembly.

P.S. Please return paper to the WA representative after reading.
