In Kylia Quilor's defense, I imagine the confusion arose from the fasces that used to appear on the background of NPO's proboards forum, but those have been removed now from the archive.

Ultimately, these kinds of debates are why we do try to stray away from commending political systems in the SC; focusing, instead, on their leaders. It keeps the peace.

Well it didn't work and after seeking feedback from others to ensure that I was not off the mark with my concerns, one person I asked queried whether your post belonged in General because they felt the tone of it didn't belong in the SC forum; another said that your post made them feel like you were staring at them like the overly attached girlfriend. A third said that they were going to go back to "Got Issues" and never turn their eyes on {this} unholy place again.

I must say though, it's nice not to see a baseless claim that Empire was probably behind everything or that Solorni was an Empire Agent (like you've been saying about me for the past three years).

Oh and TNP did recently elect a King, btw.

Well, I’ve submitted my complaints with the resolution, offered my legislative advice including alternative textual suggestions, so I feel my role as a drafter here is basically done; you won’t have to deal with the (err) “overly attached girlfriend” anymore. I’ll note since I’ve submitted my textual suggestions, not a single commentator has actually discussed the text of the resolution. I’ve been fairly harsh, yes, throughout this thread and in part it’s because I know the OP didn’t come here really to draft anything. This was always a rubber stamp excerise for TNP/Euro. The text as it stands is more propaganda than it is a resolution - just the way, I would presume, the authors wanted it. That kind of disingenuousness deserves some level of harshness, mockery, and criticality. Cheers.

Not to contribute to any notion that I am at all sufficiently qualified in any of these things (pot, kettle, I've heard it a million times), however I think the maturity and humility we should need on the part of the commendee (is that a word?) to pass a commendation with Solorni doesn't exist. I have strong rooted convictions against certain aspects of her reign in Balder, but it isn't any dispute that overall there has been stability, for better or for worse. Having enjoyed a long residency in the region I had little complaints with the Queen herself, while I don't want to bring any personal grudges into the thread. However, "The Honest Defender" was pathetic and downright embarrassing, while her approach to diplomacy with people who aren't staunch ideological allies leaves much to be desired. Especially her recent role in helping to subvert and destroy the community of her fellow sinker. I think at the very least the resolution should, if it wants to be passed, stick to the facts as much as possible (springing off what Unibot said) and acknowledge the stumbling blocks. It's better to argue that someone deserves commendation in spite of obvious possible disqualifiers, instead of ignoring them outright.

Disagree. Politics remain entirely relevant in the SC. This isn't some magical entirely OOC realm where we all set aside our opinions and run through the fields holding hands.

I almost declared my vote in favor just reading that. The longer I look at it, the more I want to. Oh, how I want to be defined by one meaningless vote. How I want to see that pettiness. How I want to to be one of what will be other defenders that do vote in favor, simply because they don't give as much of a shit as you do, and join them as they get unfairly judged because of it. It's so fucking tempting. If only it would actually accomplish anything.

Ultimately, I'm against. Sorry Rach. It's not for the Lazarus situation, because we're not Commending Balder here. I genuinely don't think what's in this proposal is noteworthy enough. The inclusion of the 'world-renowned diplomat' and 'charismatic' lines don't help, because those are just inaccurate. A polarizing diplomat would be accurate, and Rach is not nearly as charismatic as usual in arguments, which are 99% of the forums are.
