Wow. Thank you all so much. I'm so moved, you could even say this has forced me to be moved.
To Ransium, thank you for striving to write a proposal that reflects what I value in the game, especially the chess puns. My younger self would be very proud, and I'd like to think I've come back around to not being embarrassed.
To all the sports roleplayers who helped guide this, thank you for thinking so highly of me. There are a lot of storytellers whose influence I value and I couldn't start naming them here for fear of missing some, to say nothing of those who'll come after me, so to earn recognition not just for luck of the draw or longevity but for the characters and settings I was able to craft is something that means more to me than you know. To Cassadaigua in particular, you are very welcome for whatever influence I was able to give--I looked back and couldn't remember what RP sparked this subplot, be it humorous or serious, but I'm glad to know it struck a chord.
To those of you not versed in our sports community, I hope you've gotten to seen in some small way what kind of a hilarious, deep, and creative world we've built over the decades. If it hadn't been for the more complete archives that surfaced later, for all I know I might have been pestering Ransium to list my work archiving stuff from the Jolt forums as one of my achievements, because the internal canon that's endured and been added to for years was too great of a treasure trove to lose. Whether or not you supported me, I'd like to believe that contributing to this incredible saga is noteworthy in its own right. I'm humbled to be a torchbearer.
And I guess I'll stop here before I'm tempted to lapse into a song parody.
