Repeal first. Then, that can be worked out.

That... doesn't answer the question. If I remember correctly, a similar situation can occur in Humans, with one zygote eliminating or absorbing another in the Womb, or somesuch. So, it is a legitimate concern even if you don't care for nonstandard RP.

*sigh* here we go again

Thytian law, independent of any WA resolution, does not recognise the concept that the unborn are alive. Life does not begin until birth, and this a foetus cannot be murdered. It can be destroyed, which is a different thing, but not murdered. We were, are, and will be, opposed to this and similar resolutions.

Due to voting taking place soon, we will leave an additional message from our president.

Fellow WA members and delegates,
Thank you for this incredible victory! An uprising on the abortion issue, and definitely a sparking one. I am marveled and amazed. I really did underestimate our WA.

Now, next step is passing the vote. We recognize nations hold different beliefs, both morally, and scientifically. However, we must work out another solution. The fact that a nation is prohibited from obstructing termination of pregnancy is wrong. It's a violation of both freedoms, beliefs, and possibly the nations' values.

We must also recognize all that was stated. The prevention of human life, for reasons that can often be avoided, however recognizing there are reasons that this is a reasonable option. Remembering all this, we must vote and repeal this bill and work on a new resolution: liberals, conservatives, religious groups, atheists and moderates. We all must work on this topic and find a solution.

Thank you once again, and I wish the bill luck!

seriously no repeals will happen unless an agreed upon replacement is ready to roll. since at least one draft is around which encourages Reproductive freedoms. it is not going to happen

The republic of Dignatius is strongly against the resolution to reapeal GA #286. I believe that taking away all reproductive rights is a slap in the face to civil liberty and to freedom of choice.

"Abortion is an immoral act, in my opinion," said the Manticoran Ambassador. "It has it's uses, such as in cases when the mother's life is in danger or following a rape. However, late term abortions are akin to murder in any other case and abortion under any circumstances is denying a person their right to live. In the Empire, if the fetus can survive outside of the womb, then it is placed in an incubator and put up for adoption after they finish development. If it can't we have artificial wombs that will carry it to term instead and, again, it will be put up for adoption. There are other options for an unwanted child other than killing it and I implore the Assembly to explore those alternatives."

Your Excellencies,

We are a pro-choice nation in any cases. For us, GA#286 represents a step forward for human rights. So we are completely opposed to its repeal.

Sincerely yours.

"It is my understanding that several anti-human delegations will withdraw from the World Assembly in case this vote fails, like all the votes before on the same resolution did. That saddens us. Currently, human rights are protected and furthered in all World Assembly member states, and states withdrawing will be able to limit a womans right to choose. Simply throwing your rights out the window because of your anti-ethical stance on womens rights is akin to a childs temper-tantrum, and we invite delegations to stay and accept that Reproductive Freedoms indeed is the consensus, compromise solution that takes all valid considerations into account."

I think I have found a reason to rejoin The WA, albeit a possibly temporary one. Voting against this gorram awful repeal will make my life complete.

EDIT : And my vote is cast. While I would like to put forward my own proposal as a replacement, that was only a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency type thing, and not something I ever thought would ACTUALLY be used, and ensuring that this stays on the books is a far more important priority. (Can you use "important priority" without it being tautologous?

Anyway. Now I have a question - if I resign, will my vote still be registered, or do I have to at least stay until this abomination of a bill has been condemned to the rubbish bin of history it deserves?

OOC: Good luck with that. I predict a 99.999% chance that you'll be unpleasantly surprised. You've been told many times that the World Assembly would collectively rather repeal a ban on involuntary servitude than repeal GA#286, and that's saying something.
