If I had to say, probably not, although I've only been in the WA for about 6 weeks - a more experienced ambassador should know better. The "Toddgate" saga - if this resolution does end up being influenced by Aelitia, which it looks likely to be (it's losing by less than 100 votes) - concerns the democratic transition of TEP's delegate from a pro-FPA one to an anti-FPA one, and the subsequent shift in TEP's vote.

Nope. Just happened three hours ago.

And this is now failing by the ultra-slim margin of 50 votes. This could certainly be an issue after the vote.

The aide from the Astrolinian delegation walks up, coughs, and says, "Dr. Romero is on holiday, but he's sent us this." She shrugs and puts it on Dr. Romero's customary desk before leaving the way she walked in.

IIRC, WSA only holds third place for that title, and this already has a wider margin.

Actually, the majority of delegates also support this resolution. It's just that most of the more powerful and prominent ones do not.

The current record-holders for closest voting margins (though both are now repealed) are:

38 votes: GA #127 Conscientous Objector Act
63 votes: GA #113 The Gem Trading Accord

On the other extreme, GA #320 holds the GA record (but not the overall WA record) for highest margin of passage, with 93.6% in favour.

TO ALL DELEGATES:

We, the Zjau-yl nation, urge the delegates of the World Assembly to vote against this proposition. It violates national sovereignty and self-determination by creating a universal patent. It halts the poorer nations from expanding their economies. It stops the wealthier nations from new investments. It is a system that will make the world economy even more sluggish and unresponsive.

We urge you, for the sake of free trade and the world economy,
for the sake of nations big and small,
for the sake of entrepreneurs and developers,

VOTE AGAINST this resolution.

Well, this one is certainly getting good turnout- 18,682 total votes so far- 7,767 of which are non delegate votes. Is there a campaign going or something? Also, the new pie chart that comes up if you click "Show Delegate Votes" looks pretty nice.

I have the feeling that the narrow nature of the vote has encouraged participation. Even non-delegates perceive a greater value to their vote.
