I encourage all WA members to vote against the proposal, although I expect that most of them won't even visit this debate; much less read this post.

I believe these were the reasons why the resolution actually passed.

Nonetheless, the WA shouldn't use humanitarian aid to enter into its member countries and force domestic policy. The original resolution gave host nations a blanket "security checks" option, but also stated that host nations couldn't interfere with humanitarian work. With no standards to guide host nations, the WA could abuse its powers by calling a valid "security check" "interference." If the WA wants to provide aid, they'll need stricter guidelines than a broad grant of power.

This repeal has Persepo's full support.

I agree. I think most people just log in and look in the WA and vote with the masses, and the mass tends to vote "for" resolutions.

Merakio's Foreign Council has voted for this repeal, and, due to the tendencies of the WA, we expect it to pass. It's discouraging that we've had to waste this time to strike the resolution.

The Second Moon Rising has voted in favor of this Repeal, as it felt the target Resolution (which The Second Moon Rising opposed) overstepped sovereignty by only allowing the hosting nation to deny access based on a concept of "security check", and that if the aid effort was poorly funded the host nation might be forced to divert strained resources, such as fuel, from emergency services in order to transport the aid personnel for inspections. At the time, The Second Moon Rising did not even consider quarantine issues or being required to rebuild in locations that may not be safe.
The Riser delegate stands at just over six and a half feet tall and bears a vaguely humanoid shape. All other features are obscured by layers upon layers of elaborate robes and veils in varying patterns and weaves of silver, the hands are covered with meticulously wrapped strips of cloth so that only the tips of short nails are exposed, and even the voice is ambiguous. The plate on the Riser delegate's desk bears the Romanization "M'yullouand'inthouahuynn y yht Shoa Vouaniya A'alayoulin Luath'louad". Stuck to that, there is a large blue Post-it note with elegant handwriting that reads "Do not bother to try and pronounce this one's title. This one is simply the Riser delegate.".

Neville enters the Voting ChamberTM for the first time.

"For reasons which should be self-explanatory from the text of the repeal, we have decided to vote FOR."

Neville packs up his papers and quickly leaves, hoping that he didn't commit some sort of faux pas.

Most WA members would vote for a proposal to repeal our declaration of human rights if given a seemingly legitimate reason for it. Most WA members are, indeed, very gullible.

Right. Sometimes WA members don't even read and just vote for. I doubt that they will read this, pretty much.

Tue Jul 19 2016: GAR #380 is passed, 10,684 to 6,221.
Thu Jul 28 2016: GAR #380 is repealed, 10,879 to 3,533.

At this point we are starting to believe this Assembly is passing resolutions only for the sake of repealing them.

That is a strange and dishonest notion. I would have thought that after a long time participating in the WA that you would know that is not how this works.

The delegation of the Atlae Isles is disappointed that the act has been repealed, especially by such a huge margin. It wishes the General Assembly to find another resolution to vote on, and hopefully make meaningful progress.

OOC: In fairness, in past years, the proportion of repeals passed has exploded and the rate at which resolutions are insta-repealed is stunning. It's obviously not some type of conspiracy - and TKE was obviously being coy to demonstrate their point - but it is definitely highly unusual.

OOC: It's much easier to write repeals. I mean just look at "Repeal Language Preservation," horrible Repeal and whoever wrote it should feel ashamed...
